A Study on Improving Usability focused User Interface in the BIM tool sets - Focused on Preliminary-Design and Schematic-Design in Architecture - (BlM 도구의 사용자 인터페이스 개선사항에 관한 연구 - 건축기획과 계획 설계 과정을 중심으로 -)

  • This study is intended to suggest methodologies in theory that is dedicated to improve existing features in BlM tool sets and introduce a new horizon for developing new features in the future so that more functionality can be provided to the work process of architect. To be more utilized of BlM tool sets in a useful way, it is important to make sure to program a calculation method used in the design process which is based on the information provided by architect, such as design item with detailed process and transformed parametric information on warranty data. Finding pros and cons in the usability from the well-known 3D modeling applications and taking highly usable UI features from the existing applications, and using a common wording were carried out. Design architect identifies reusable parametric information and then finds an algorithm between each items so that BlM tool sets can contribute to design field in the future. Therefore, the formula has been developed for the items considering business aspects and architecturing size in the preliminary-design, and design aspects in the schematic design with idendifying inputs and outputs that is necessary to become fixed factors.

  • When Deterministic Design Optimization (DDO) methods are used, deterministic optimum designs are frequently pushed to the design constraint boundary, leaving little or no room for tolerances (or uncertainties) in design, manufacture, and operating processes. In the Reliability-Based Design Optimization (RBDO) model for robust system design, the mean values of uncertain system variables are usually used as design variables, and the cost is optimized subject to prescribed probabilistic constraints as defined by a nonlinear mathematical programming problem. Therefore, a RBDO solution that reduces the structural weight in uncritical regions does not only provide an improved design but also a higher level of confidence in the design. In this work, we seek to improve the quality of RBDO processes using efficient optimization techniques with object of improving the resulting objective function and satisfying the required constraints. Our recent RBDO developments show its efficiency and applicability in this context. So we present some recent structural engineering applications demonstrate the efficiency of these developed RBDO methods.

  • At this present, the world is in the era of digital and culture.Tourist resources through cultural infrastructure have been a crucial factor of a country's competitiveness. A Museum is tourism resource facility like one of core cultural infrastructures which provides experiential culture, history and tradition. The field of a planning and a design for a museum should be recognized like professional design industry.n Korea, the government has various laws and systems to support the design promotion policy but it is not sufficient. If you plan to extend the scope of the maintenance of law and institutions As today 'Exhibition Industry Development Act, which is responsible for maintenance, including a permanent exhibition area in the exhibition industry facilities will be efficient alternative. And also, it would like to analyze states of the orders in the exhibition design industry for past five years (2010 ~ 2014) and show the problems and alternatives. Exhibition business-related orders investigation into the recent five years to analyze and suggest improvements. In the delivery method it was found three types of goods, the services, the delivery method through the analysis of the enforcement order to the Corporation and that are mixed.If these alternatives has been reviewed and used for basic data to promote professional companies and designers for museums, it must be expected to be well worth a careful study.

  • Design process is the essential technology for development of industry in nation, but contrary to its significance the trial for development of design technology is not so active because it requires a lot of time and efforts to educate design engineers. For that reason, most of enterprises concentrated their efforts for improving product technologies to get instant effects in short periods, and through these trials considerable results could be achieved. Recently, however, many people realized that industrial development through only product technology without design technology has limits, accordingly, a lot of efforts, to educate machine designers whom have enough knowledge and ability on design through advanced design technology, concentrated for industrial development. In general, the curriculum of conventional education for machine design in most universities is mainly compose of three subjects, the theory for elements design, geometric modeling practice for mating engineering drawings using CAD software, and analysis of elements using CAE software fur determining whether proposed solution is correct or rational. Furthermore, because these three subject are provided for students as the completely separated subjects, most of students who have educated with this method have no enough ability to Integrate all design process into a comprehensive whole process. This paper proposes a new design education methodology through reverse engineering that can overcome these problems of conventional education method.

  • Website usability has been considered as a critical success factor for e-business. It has been widely acknowledged that website design with high level of usability results in positive outcomes including the increased number of visitors and vigorous user activities. Navigation which is an action for accessing and finding information is closely related with web usability when user access website providing information. The purpose of this study is to obtain design insights for improving website navigability of Korean Ministry of Health and Welfare (MHW). Action research and gaze analysis methods were applied, and we found design issues with regard to navigability in MHW website and the way how to improve. The lessons and implementation experiences will be beneficial in stimulating further theoretical work from researchers in the area of web usability. We also expect our study provide significant insights for design practitioners.

Development of Aircap Wall Module through the Lamination of Aircap (에어캡 적층을 통한 에어캡 벽 모듈 개발)

  • The insulation performance of aircaps has been recognized and various studies regarding the aircap as a solution to increased building energy consumption are being carried out. However, the aircap is not durable and therefore it cannot play the role of an independent finishing material. Accordingly, the purpose of this study is to suggest an aircap wall module with improved durability through the lamination of the aircap and verify its effectiveness by evaluating its energy saving performance for lighting and air conditioning through a full-scale testbed. The conclusions of this study are as follows. 1) The aircap wall module featuring a laminated aircap that is being proposed in this study can save lighting energy due to the permeability of the aircap in comparison to previous insulating materials. 2) The aircap wall module with a laminated aircap is effective in improving heating and air-conditioning energy saving when it is more than 15 cm-thick during summer and winter in comparison to a 5 cm-thick prefabricated panel. 3) The aircap wall module featuring a laminated aircap is effective in improving lighting and heating and air-conditioning energy saving when it is 10 cm- and 5 cm-thick during summer and winter, respectively, in comparison to a 5 cm-thick prefabricated panel.

  • The thesis is for the analysis of the current trend adapted for the method of the test information exchange in the environment of the internal circuit in case of PCB design, The design process is most powerful for improving test characteristics among the entire process of PCB. The PCB is more and more difficult to test as the processes proceed because the nodes become more and more complicated. The data exchange for improving PCB test performance should be easy in order to provide more reliable products in the shorter period. The design technology oriented for the test makes the PCB and its components tested reliably and quickly so that it can effectively improve the quality of the PCB and largely reduce the time and cost of the test development, In addition it can make the substantial standardization In improve the speed of the repeated test and treatment so that the Period of development can be shorter. Also, it helps to effectively detect the potential defects of the products, so that highly reliable PCB can be produced.

Website Design for Improving Web Accessibility of Disabled People (장애인의 웹 접근성 향상을 위한 웹사이트 설계)

  • Public institutions or libraries urgently prepare comprehensive measures to improve web accessibility of their websites as booting web dependability and web utilization of disabled people. The purpose of this study is to propose the design guidelines for improving web accessibility of disabled people. The study, first, analyzed various web accessibility requirements based on web standards, web accessibility guidelines, and the related researches and proposed a web accessibility checklist with 42 requirement. Next, the study evaluated 15 websites of public institutions such as government departments, association of disabled people, and public libraries using the checklist. Finally, the study revealed non-adherence requirements and suggested website design guidelines in terms of contents configuration, sound, colour, keyboard handling, mouse handling, access, image processing, text processing, and code processing.

Effects of Programming-Based TPACK Education Program on TPACK of Pre-service Teachers (프로그래밍 기반 TPACK 교육 프로그램이 예비 교사의 TPACK에 미치는 효과)

  • This study aims to verify the effectiveness of the programming-based TPACK educational program developed by Kim and Lee (2019) in improving the TPACK of pre-service teachers. The treatment used ICT-based (control) and programming-based TPACK educational programs (first, second, third, and final cycle) developed through design-based research. TPACK test tools were implemented pre and post treatment, and the test results were analyzed using ANCOVA. Therefore, the TPACK of pre-service teachers who implemented the programming-based TPACK educational program was significantly higher compared to the ICT-based TPACK educational program. Furthermore, through this design-based research, the effect of the developed final educational program on the TPACK of pre-service teachers was particularly the most outstanding. Therefore, it can be concluded that the programming-based TPACK education program developed through design-based research is effective in improving the TPACK of pre-service teachers.

Application of Programming based TPACK Education Program to Increase TPACK of Pre-service Teachers

  • This study verified the effects that a programming-based TPACK education program, through design-based research on TPACK, had on pre-service teachers. The research subjects were pre-service teachers attending teacher training at a university in Korea, and 129 control groups and 126 experimental groups were recruited through lectures. The treatment used a TPACK educational program developed in a design-based study (Kim & Lee, 2019). A TPACK test tool developed by Park and Kang (2014) was used. The test results were analyzed via independent sample t-test and paired sample t-test. The results show that the programming-based TPACK education program (first cycle) was only effective in improving TPK and TPACK, but an effective educational program was developed to improve PCK, TCK, TK (second cycle), PK (third cycle), and CK (final cycle). This design-based research therefore confirmed the development of a programming-based TPACK education program that was effective for improving the TPACK of pre-service teachers.
