Design of Sound Quality Index for Laser Printers and Its Application for Improvement Study (프린터의 음질 인덱스 제작과 음질개선에 대한 응용)

  • The sound quality based on design optimization, throughout the development process of various electronic office equipments, needs to be considered in order to respond the increased needs for the emotional satisfaction of customers in terms of psycho-acoustics. This paper focuses on how to describe the characteristics of operating sound radiated from laser printers by using various sound attributes, and to model the sound quality index that can properly evaluate the subjective preference on modification conditions in the improvement study quantitatively. Especially, the proposed verification process, in the form of combining the correlation based method and the decision error based method, was applied to improve the generality and reliability of a group of participants in the jury evaluation. The modified Aures tonality model was also proposed to improve the correlation coefficient with the mean response of participants by optimizing some parameters. As a result, the loudness, articulation index, roughness, tonality, fluctuation strength were used to model the sound quality index for laser printers by using the multiple-linear regression method. Through the improvement study, it was confirmed that replacing the absorbing materials is effective to reduce the tonalness radiated from the side of a reference printer model. Based on above results, it can be concluded that the proposed model has enough usefulness as quantitative evaluation index to evaluate the difference between modification conditions in the improvement study.

Fuzzy Techniques to Establish Improvement Priorities of Water Pipes (상수관로 개량 우선순위 수립을 위한 퍼지 기법)

  • In this paper important factors in determining improvement priorities for water pipes were categorized into the effects of a pipe failure to entire pipe network and the characteristics of individual pipe. Subsequently, mathematical models that can quantify these factors were developed using the Fuzzy techniques. The effects of a pipe failure to entire pipe network and the characteristics of individual pipe that were estimated byFuzzy techniques were coined as Fuzzy Importance Index and Fuzzy Characteristic Index, respectively. The Fuzzy Characteristic Index was further categorized into Fuzzy Deterioration Index and Fuzzy Difficulty Index. Considerations were given to applying weights to specific factors in the developed model depending on the circumstances of model applications. To provide an example of the methodology an example pipe network, Net3, of the EPANET program was used. The Fuzzy Importance Index (FII) and Fuzzy Deterioration Index (FDI) were calculated for the Net3 network by considering the hydraulic effects of a pipe failure on the entire pipe network and the pipe deterioration as one of the individual pipe characteristics. Subsequently, the improvement priorities of the pipes in the Net3 pipe network were established based on the FII and FDI.

  • Many railway safety measures reduce railway fatalities into half for last 10 years. But more improvement in railway safety is required to meet the social need after railway fire accident in Daegue. Reasonable railway safety index is needed to find out the weak point and efficiencies of various safety measures. But we still have only 2 kinds of safety index which are set for 10 years ago. In order to derive guideline for setting up safety index, we analyze accident cause, previous studies for railway safety improvement in Korea, and other countries safety plan. As a result some proposal for safety index was driven in this study.

  • Objective : The purpose of this report is to usee more Chuna treatment clinically by comparing the improvement of Back pain and Sciatica between Common treatment Group and Common treatment with Chuna treatment Group. Methods : This study was carried out on 30 patients with Back pain and Sciatica who ere hospitalized in Dongshin Univ. Oriental Hospital form April 2001 to December, 2002. Group A of 15 patients wer taken both common treatment and Chuna treatment. And Group B of 15 patients were only taken common treatment. And after 10 days of admission, we checked and compared VAS(Visual Analogue Scale) and improvement index out of these two groups. Results : The result of the VAS(Visual Analogue Scale) and improvement index of comparison analysis between two groups after 10 days, shows that the improvement of Back pain and Sciatica in Common treatment with Chuna treatment Group is more effective than that in Common treatment Group.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to assess the service quality attributes of Korean airlines service for Chinese passengers and suggest revised model to count potential improvement. Methods: Using the Kano and Timko models based on survey questionnaire to classify the quality attributes and to calculate the customer satisfaction index for each service attributes. And the revised potential customers satisfaction index(R-PCSI) are used to access the improvement possibilities by Kano model's attributes. Results: The attributes by Kano model, the relative importance, and the priorities for improvement for 30 airline service quality characteristics are identified. The most important item for improvement is 'Loses and delays compensations service'. Conclusion: According to the PCSI calculation results, this paper can help for Korean Airlines to improve customer satisfaction for Chinese passengers. And R-PCSI model suggested by this paper can be used for other service quality analysis.

  • This study is to improve the quantitative estimation index of biotop area ratio, which is an environmental planning index and environmental ecological planning technique, as a planning means that can induce the improvement of ecological soundness in the spatial planning stage. It is intended to identify the relative importance of space types and calculation indicators currently in operation, and to find alternatives through opinion analysis on improvement of space types and weights. As the method of this study, AHP analysis was performed to evaluate the relative importance of spatial types for in-depth analysis of spatial types and calculation indicators. In order to secure the reliability and objectivity of the study, 50 experts participated. Through this study, it can be linked with the improvement of technologies and construction methods, maintenance efficiency, economic feasibility, and construction technology, which are developed through analysis on the limitations and improvements by type of biotop area ratio. And it is expected to contribute to the improvement of the urban environment and vitalization of the biotop area ratio through the application of the biotop area ratio.

Water Quality Assessment for Reservoirs using the Korean Trophic State Index (한국형 부영양화 지수를 이용한 저수지 수질평가)

  • Man-made reservoirs over 95% in Korea are shallower than 10 meters in depth, which is apt to cause eutrophication. This study has characterized long-term trends in water quality factors for the selected six reservoir points in the Kum River watersheds, and then estimated the seasonal trophic state index for each reservoir. The reservoir trophic state was evaluated at four trophic levels using the Korean trophic state index, TSIKO. It is observed from seasonal results for six reservoirs that the highest value of the trophic state index is estimated in summer while the trophic state index value is low in spring and winter seasons. Especially, the Boryeong Lake has a relatively lower trophic state index since this reservoir has been managed properly for water withdrawal and irrigation. It is expected that the seasonal trophic state index resulted from this study can contribute toward long-term water quality improvement plans for reservoirs.

Comparision of the Improvement of Back pain and Sciatica between Common Acupuncture treatment Group and Common Acupuncture with Shin Jong Gyuk of Ohaeng Acupuncture treatment Group (요통(腰痛) 및 요각통(腰脚痛) 환자(患者)의 체침요법(體鍼療法)과 오행침법(五行鍼法)의 현정격병용(賢正格倂用)에 의한 증상호전 비교)

  • Objective : The purpose of this report is to use more Shin Jong Gyuk of Ohaeng Acupuncture acupunture treatment clinically by comparing the Improvement of Back pain and Sciatica between Common Acupuncture treatment Group and Common Acupuncture with Shin Jong Gyuk of Ohaeng Acupuncture treatment Group. Methods : This study was carried out on 40 patients with Back pain and Sciatica who were hospitalized in Dongshin Univ. Oriental Hospital from 1st, April, 2001 to Tenth, November, 2001. Group A of 20 patients were taken both common acupunture treatment and Shin Jong Gyuk of Ohaeng Acupuncture treatment. And Group B of 20 patients were only taken common acupunture treatment. And after 10 days of admission, we checked and compared VAS(Visual Analogue Scale) and improvement index out of these two groups. SPSS(Statistical Program for Sdcial Science) for Window was used for a statistical analysis and the independent T-test was performed to gauge the improvement of VAS(Visual Analogue Scale) and improvement index out of these two groups, in which case, value of P below 0.05 is considered as useful. Results : The result of the VAS(Visual Analogue Scale) and improvement index of comparision analysis between two groups after 10 days, shows that the improvement of Back pain and Sciatica in Common Acupuncture treatment with Shin Tong Gyuk of Ohaeng Acupuncture treatment Group is more effective than that in Common Acupuncture treatment Group. (independent T-test improvement index P=0.21, VAS P=0.00)

  • Purpose: A main aims to classify quality attributes for quality assurance activities of military supplies by company size, and to derive the necessity for business improvement by company size to improve customer satisfaction through customer satisfaction coeffiecient and PCSI Index. Methods: Through a survey of defense and general businesses located in Busan and South Gyeongsang Province, the quality of service elements are classified and the client satisfaction factor and PCSI is calculated for the quality assurance activities. Results: Determine the current level of customer satisfaction with the quality of the Defence quality assurance service and present operational factors that need improvement by size of the company. Conclusion: The attractive quality of service factors for quality assurance work were in common and different and the need for improvement was identified based on differences in PCSI Index by Company size.

  • This paper attempts to evaluate the impact of power plant penetration on constraints of a transmission network and proposes a methodology based on risk level, which can evaluate the condition of the network and facilities intuitionally. Furthermore, based on this methodology, RLII(Risk Level Improvement Index) is proposed in order to establish comprehensive TNEP(Transmission Network Expansion Planning) from a viewpoint of ISO(Independent System Operator). In order to verify the proposed methods in this paper, real power systems in Incheon and Shiheung areas, south Korea are applied to the case study.
