Purpose: This study investigated changes in neurocognitive function over a 2-month period of board game therapy in patients with schizophrenia. Method: Twenty-one schizophrenic patients treated with board game therapy and nineteen control schizophrenic patients were evaluated with neuropsychological and clinical tests, such as the Wisconsin Card Shorting Test (WCST). The same tests were re-administered after 2 months of board game therapy. Results: At the first series of neuropsychological tests, no difference was seen in performance, demographical aspects, or clinical severity among both patient groups. After 2 months, the group receiving board game therapy showed significant improvement of WCST performances compared to the controls. However, no difference was observed in clinical symptoms between the groups. Conclusion: The results of cognitive enhancement in patients playing board games indicates that board game play, easily used in an inpatient setting, is a promising tool for executive function improvement in chronic schizophrenic patients.

This study aimed at the improvement of the conventional methods of Velue Engineering Function Analysis, the most important phase of VE processes, through Quality Function Development and Analytic Hierarchy Process. This study was performed in both theory and study. In the theoretical study, the necessity and the fitness of the connection between VE and QC techniques were studied. The use of Function Requirement Coefficients in Quality Function Development makes the more objective Function Evaluation possible.

This study aimed at the improvement of the conventional methods of VE Function Analysis, the most important phase of VE process, through Quality Function Development. The use of Function Requirement Coefficients in Quality Function Development makes the Function Development more objective, and it was found that VE techniques, when used in combination with QC techniques. In this paper we introduced a new score generating function for the rank dispersion function in a multiple linear model. Based on the new score function, we derived the asymptotic relative efficiency, ARE(11, rs), of our score function with respect to the Wilcoxon scores for the generalized F distributions which show very flexible distributions with a variety of shape and tail behaviors. We thoroughly explored the selection of r and s of our new score function that provides improvement over the Wilcoxon scores.

This paper presents a performance improvement of distributed fuzzy control system by changing the triangular membership function widths according to the input variables. The control region consists of 4 parts according to the sign of error and change of error terms. Each control part is operated by the suitable nonuniform triangular membership function. As an aging population has increased vastly and nuclear families have been a dominating family type in modern Korean society, the numbers of the elderly who suffer Empty Nest Syndrome and LID (Loss Isolation Depression) syndrome have been accelerated. These syndromes involve psychological instability, melancholy, and lethargy. To make the elderly get out of this phenomenon and live actively, the scheme of converting their existing house into shared housing was set as a hypothetical solution in this study. This study sets out to find out responses of the elderly to alter their own house's function in housing improvement area. A Small Workshop Panel method was used and the elderly aged 55 years upwards took part and they own a detached house in a housing improvement area that is relatively large for the elderly or the elderly couple to live alone. Through the workshop, problems that the elderly have been experiencing within their houses were looked into and responses of the elderly on altering their house to shared housing by introducing developed schematic plans. Although, the first response was negative, positive responses from the house owners were carried out when a visual support i.e. developed shared housing plan was provided. The positive response was based on the fact that subsidies from the government on house renovation and tenants matching programs are supported as shared housing could provide home owners economical support with rents and help them to feel less lonely. This is a way of relieving the elderly from being neglected and supporting them to live and age actively in their later lives. Furthermore, by providing a visual media to the elder residents in housing improvement area, their greater understandings on the development and addressing their opinions were possible. Therefore, more tools that promote elder residents' participation are needed for future housing improvement projects and an aging society.

This study aimed to provide basic data for future management of roadside trees by analyzing problems associated with plantation and management of roadside trees through categorization of functions and organizational structure, plantation and management, and management regulations and generating improvement opportunities based on the result of a survey on the awareness of government officials who are directly in charge of managing roadside trees in 31 cities & counties within Kyonggi province. The summary of key results of this study is as follows. First, "roadside tree-related function" is still not considered to be independent. About a half of government officials in charge did not majored in this field and they spent only about "2.09hours", in average, in the roadside tree-related function out of 8 working hours per day. Second, regarding problems and improvement opportunities in roadside tree-related function, lack of time was considered to be the biggest problem in overall management of roadside trees. As for improvement opportunities, "increase of dedicated manpower" and "system development" to facilitate efficient processing were suggested. Third, an annual budget for roadside tree-related affairs was merely 92 million won per city/county. A registry for management of roadside trees was kept manually. As for the roles of roadside trees, improvement of landscape and securing of green area itself were valued highly. Fourth, Ginkgo biloba, Zelkova serrata, and Prunus yedoensis were suggested to be the most appropriate species for roadside tree and Platanus occidentalis, Populus albaglandulosa, Populus euramericana, and Robinia pseudo-acacia were mentioned to be the least appropriate species.

Objectives: The purpose of this study is to investigate the perception of Korean Medicine (KM) doctors toward infertility treatment evaluation tools and develop a standard evaluation tool for mental and physical function improvement following Korean medicine treatment. Methods: An online survey (Moaform) was conducted, and responses were analyzed for members of the Society of Korean Medicine Obstetrics and Gynecology and KM doctors who participated in the 2021-2022 traditional Korean medicine treatment infertility support program in Gyeonggi-do. Results: In fertility treatment, the most effective indicators that KM doctors wanted to evaluate other than pregnancy and childbirth were reproductive health indicators, overall health improvement, and stress improvement (33.1%, 21.2%, 18.9%). Furthermore, 45.1% of the respondents had experience using the presented infertility stress evaluation tools. For each evaluation tool, 52.1% and 54.6% of the respondents answered that it 'does not reflect the changing circumstances of the times' and that there were 'too many questions'. As for the developing a standard evaluation tool for infertility treatment in KM, KM doctors expected a simple and clear tool focusing on the pregnancy rate. They also wanted the tool to include a reproductive health index, overall function improvement and stress improvements. Conclusions: The survey confirmed the need to evaluate indicators for reproductive health, mental health, and infertility stress in addition to pregnancy rate to assess the effectiveness of KM infertility treatment. It also confirms the necessity of developing an infertility stress evaluation tool with simplified questions that reflects the changing time.

Background: The purpose of this study was to investigate the usefulness of quadriceps exercise for improvement of knee extensor muscular function after cruciate ligament reconstruction. Methods: Participate in 18 of patients with cruciate ligament reconstruction, ACL & PCL reconstruction was 9 of patients, respectively. All subjects instructed that quadriceps exercise repeated daily, composed to QSE(quadriceps femoris setting exercise) and SLR(straight leg raises). Knee extensor muscular function was measured before and after quadriceps exercise. Initial test was measured before cruciate ligament reconstruction, and retest was measured 6month after cruciate ligament reconstruction. Results: Knee extensor muscular function significantly increased in both ACL and PCL reconstruction(P<0.05). Conclusion: The results of this study indicated that quadriceps exercise useful for improve knee extensor muscular function in patients with cruciate ligament reconstruction.

The importance of design value engineering in construction projects recently is rising, which deal about in reduction of cost and improvement of quality. Especially, From half of this year 2005, It is predicted that the value engineering is necessary to be carried out in the projects having project cost more than 10 billion won. In increasing importance of value engineering, we require a way by which we accomplish value engineering systemically and effectively though it is not common in domestic situation. So, this case study shows a way in carrying out value engineering effectively. As the way is to apply QFD(Quality Function Deployment) in pre-study work of design value engineering, this is expected to contribute as function analysis and reflect the requirement of users or owners.
