The purpose of this study is to suggest improvement directions and strategies for the minimization of ex-post damage and prevention of the generation of derelict fishing gear which lead to decreased fisheries resources and deteriorated marine ecosystem through ghost fishing and damaging spawning and growth grounds. Current problems related to derelict fishing gear in Korea are lack of reliable data on the generation amount of derelict fishing gear, absence of life-cycle monitoring and management system, insufficient supports for derelict fishing gear collection programs and R&D investment in environmentally friendly fishing gear, etc. Thus, this study suggests three basic improvement directions to prevent the generation and minimize the damage of derelict fishing gear. Such improvement directions contain more detailed strategies such as establishment of fishing gear management law and life-cycle management system, strengthening entry regulations on fisheries causing serious ghost fishing problems, increased supports for R&D investment and dissemination of bio-degradable fishing nets, and promotion of voluntary agreements among competing fishermen's groups.

The Government is making every effort to improve the quality of statistics as well as the statistical system as a part in the sixth Five-year Economic and Social Development Plan which started from 1987. With regard to development plan, this paper is aiming to show the directions for improvement and development of the government statistical activities conforming to new socio-economic situation by reviewing and analysing the developing stage and the current circumstances and problems of statistics.

This paper presents the directions for the settling environment improvement of 244 Eups and Myeons in the Kyung buk province. Depending on their regional types. The analysis results are as follows : 1) According to the index of general estimation each regional group is classified into the developing country. suburban country. flatland country or mountain country. 2) The regional type is classified into densly-inhabitated district. less-dense district. non-developing district or perishing district. 3) The results of the dwelling environment estimation pointed out that social protection. living convenience. and neighborship are important factors for environmental improvement, depending on the regional type. From above, each region has different regional characteristics and environmental estimation structure. It is suggested to establish improvement directions. based on them.

The purpose of this study is to suggest basic data to establish policy directions for improvement on quality of rural housing in Korea. A literature survey were used fur study The contents of survey includes policy supports in rural Korea and rural America. The results of the study grasped the situations that the newly built and repair, a vacant house, landscape and welfare with the support of rural housing policy in Korea. Also rural affordable housing policy examined supports of RHS programs in USDA variously. Based on the results, some policy directions to rural housing and community were suggested.

The report of the Korean Board of Audit and Inspection(BAI) on May 2007 indicates the problems of Life Cycle Cost (LCC) analysis and evaluation in the Design-Build(Turn-Key) and alternative bidding system. The point which the report indicates is that the cost estimation system for LCC analysis has nothing in common each other and there's no consistency among the repair cycle and ratio per facilities parts. For solving these problems, BAI demands the establishment of the guidelines for LCC analysis and evaluation from the competent authority Korean Ministry of Construction And Transportation(MOCT). The objective of this study is to develop the improvement directions for LCC analysis and evaluation which are suitable to the public construction projects especially for the Design-Build and alternative bidding system in Korea. For this study, the LCC related raws and regulations, LCC analysis guidelines of public cooperations, actual condition of LCC analysis and evaluation which include, the elements of LCC, the estimation rules of the initial cost and the maintenance cost, the analysis standards of time value of money, etc. are investigated to provide the improvement directions for LCC analysis and evaluation.

The purpose of this study is to find directions for the improvement of amenities for Jinan according to Eup and Myun through an analysis of survey data on rural amenity resources. This survey was performed over a period of 4 years(from 2005 to 2008). The data were collected by field survey, interview, and internet site. Analyses of descriptive statistics, regression and correlation were performed to identify the characteristics of each Eup/Myun in Jinan County and the relationship between each resource. Rank analysis was performed to classify the type of each region. Through this, directions for the improvement of amenities in Jinan according to Eup and Myun are presented.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the characteristics and suggest the Improvement directions of the facilities in Recreational Forests. This study adopted such various analysis methods as reviewing related documents, surveying the existing sites, and using questionnaire to visitors and managers. The result of this study can be summarized as follows ; 1) The major facilities of Recreational Forests are the lodging, recreation, and sports ones. 2) The primary factor for the visitor's satisfaction is the quality of natural environment, but that for their dissatisfaction is the lack of variety of the available facility. 3) The major problems of facilities in Recreational Forests are their number and design. This study suggests the improvement of accessibility and design of the facilities in the Recreational Forests.
