This study proposes a new calculation method for generating real nighttime lamp-lit images. In order to improve the color appearance in the prediction of a nighttime lamp-lighted scene, the lamp-lit image is synthesized based on spectral distribution using the estimated local spectral distribution of the headlamps and the surface reflectance of every object. The Principal component analysis method is introduced to estimate the surface color of an object, and the local spectral distribution of the headlamps is calculated based on the illuminance data and spectral distribution of the illuminating headlamps. HID and halogen lamps are utilized to create beam patterns and captured road scenes are used as background images to simulate actual headlamp-lit images on a monitor. As a result, the reproduced images presented a color appearance that was very close to a real nighttime road image illuminated by single and multiple headlamps compared to the conventional graphic-based algorithm.
This study is designed to understand current wearing conditions of air force mechanic parkas and evaluate their functionality by examining the wearing conditions and wearers' subjective assessment. By doing so, it also intends to identify issues that require improvements; and to provide basic data for future development of air force mechanic parkas. A survey was conducted as a study methodology, and the collected 1,628 questionnaires were analyzed. Findings of this study are as follows. 1. In the usability assessment, it was found that visibility of body sides was needed to be enhanced since reflective tapes were attached only to the front and back of the body; pockets were too big, but not convenient to keep mechanic tools; the design of hiding hood was not suitable for water-proof clothing; and a new design of size-controllable hood was called for since the hood blocked eye sight. With respect to the fabric, dissatisfaction was identified with durability, cold-proof and fire-proof features. 2. In the mobility assessment, respondents showed low satisfaction with collar heights and neck girths. Mobility score was over moderate level on average, except the parka length that obstructs wearers' movement, and neck and collar size. 3. In the wearability assessment, respondents presented moderate satisfaction with pleasantness, weight, pressure and dampness. However, insulation was found unsatisfactory. Based on the result, this study proposed improvement plans on design, pattern and fabric; and is expected to serve as basic data for developing more effective and functional air force mechanic parkas.

In this research the current situations of libraries of 119 rural elementary schools are examined. These schools are the applicants for the 'Campaign for Libraries for Rural Schools' sponsored by Chosun Ilbo in 2009. Through the content analysis of their applications, the factors of facilities, collection, and environment are described. One the surface, most of these applicants look fine with the current size of collection and annual additions. They, however, commonly document the extremely poor conditions of facilities, unbalanced and low quality of books, lack of financial support, and cultural isolation. Even though they are not the typical rural school libraries, it seems urgent to improve their inferior conditions that any library statistics never shows in numbers. In this research, it is considered significant to make local governments and offices of education change their attitude toward rural school libraries and increase their financial support to them. The suggestions are as follows: First, let them know that school library policies concern the voters in communities; Second, use the visibility of various authoritative library assessments and awards; Third, strengthen the qualitative aspect of library evaluations.
Although it is expected to provide fundamental data for advanced VTS system by analyzing traffic accidents in VTS area, there is no quantitative analysis to find it.. In this research, it is examined and analyzed marine casualties records(1999-2004), data of Port-MIS and data of each VTS center. The results of this research are as below. 1) It is necessary to reduce traffic accident and to improve VTS operating system. 2) It is discovered for statistical discrepancy between vessels controlled by VTS and vessels not controlled by VTS in accident cause, visibility, perception distance and cause of late perception in collision accidents 3) It is necessary for VTS assistance to be positive and to made in ample time consecutively. 4) As the result of traffic accident prediction model, it is necessary to develop a system improving VTS operators' ability to identify dangerous ships.
Land fire receives additional extinguishing methods easily by professional extinguisher. But because of isolation and independence from land when sailing on the sea, ships are difficult to get special help from land. Generally, the death ratio by suffocation is higher than the death rate by flame and to reduce suffocation death ratio, fast evacuation is required. This paper aims to improve survival ratio at ship fires by soot density reduction. This study examines soot density and visibility using FDS. And also examines evacuation time by Pathfinder. The FDS(Fire Dynamic Simulator) is a 3 zone model(Field Model) analysis tool and the patherfinder is a useful analysis tool for evacuation. This research examined about evacuation time using the current regulations of the ship's corridor width and exit width first. And then studied evacuation time again when ship's structure was changed according to the method that is proposed in this paper. And finally compared the results each other.

The main purpose of tunnel ventilation system is to maintain CO pollutant and VI (visibility index) under an adequate level to provide drivers with safe driving condition. Moreover, it is necessary to minimize power consumption used to operate ventilation system. To achieve the objectives, the control algorithm used in this research is reinforcement teaming (RL) method. RL is a goal-directed teaming of a mapping from situations to actions. The goal of RL is to maximize a reward which is an evaluative feedback from the environment. Constructing the reward of the tunnel ventilation system, two objectives listed above are included. RL algorithm based on actor-critic architecture and natural gradient method is adopted to the system. Also, the recursive least-squares (RLS) is employed to the learning process to improve the efficiency of the use of data. The simulation results performed with real data collected from existing tunnel are provided in this paper. It is confirmed that with the suggested controller, the pollutant level inside the tunnel was well maintained under allowable limit and the performance of energy consumption was improved compared to conventional control scheme.

To deduce 3D linear information which express shapes of buildings out of airphoto by fusion of airphoto and LiDAR data, this research went through 2 process. First, research made LiDAR data into projected data of 2D based on airphoto. For this, the virtual points were added to solve the visual problem of building boundary area which has poor information because the attribute in LiDAR data. Research construct irregular triangular nets from modified LiDAR data and judge visual triangular nets out of image. Through this, research can make reference to information of triangular nets in each image pixel. Second, 3D information was extracted from stereo images segments by combining extracted information of visible region and 2D irregular triangular nets. Matching way based on TIN for segments from stereo images was used. Matching condition based on TIN can improve about 20% of edge matching accuracy compared to existing quadrilateral condition of epipolar geometry.

The purpose of this study is to conduct a questionnaire survey on the actual conditions of the working uniform and protective equipment put on by street cleaners, then to identify their inconvenience and problems and to draw solutions to improve them, and finally to design a spring-and-autumn street cleaner uniform which has enhanced functionalities such as motional flexibility, safety and soil proof. The questionnaire survey of this study was done by street cleaners who were in charge of street cleaning and collecting the recyclable waste. The result of this study, easily worn-out parts of the working clothing were the sleeve hems and the front part on the upper uniform, and the trouser hems and zipper on the lower uniform. Easily soiled parts were the sleeve hems, parts of arm on the upper uniform, and the trouser hems and knee parts on the lower uniform. Based on the results of the questionnaire survey, the sample uniforms were designed in consideration of material, design and pattern. A soil-proof material was used for easily soiled parts such as sleeve hems, knee parts and trouser hems. Reflective material was applied to the parts such as chest, back and the side lines of sleeves and trousers to raise visibility in working and to ensure safety. A crease was given to each side of the back. The height of sleeve cap was lowered to lift the motional flexibility of back and arm parts. Darts were applied to elbow and knee parts for a three-dimensional design. Gussets were inserted in the thigh part to give it activity. Then quantitative evaluation and a sensory evaluation, which was composed of outward appearance, motional flexibility and fitness for field operation, were conducted. According to these evaluations, the sample uniform was found to be more satisfactory than current uniform.

GPS adapter kit (GAK) is a GPS/INS guided range extension system to improve the accuracy and availability of existing dumb bombs. In this paper, a van test result of GPS/INS navigation module (NM) for guided bomb with GAK has been presented. The NM consists of a commercial MEMS IMU, embedded GPS receiver and navigation computer unit (NCU). The GPS receiver of NM was designed to use multiple antennas for satellite visibility and GPS attitude determination. The real-time navigation software was designed by modularized structure to guarantee the maintainability and extensibility. In order to evaluate the performance of the NM, a van test was preformed by using a high performance INS - Honeywell H-726 MAPS(Modular Azimuth Position System). The van test results show that the GAK NM with GPS attitude measurement gives better navigation performance than a conventional GPS/INS integration and good coasting capabilities under jamming environment.
When up-scaling algorithms for visible light images are applied to infrared (IR) images, they rarely work because IR images are usually blurred. In order to solve such a problem, this paper proposes an up-scaling algorithm for IR images. We employ adaptive dynamic range encoding (ADRC) as a simple classifier based on the observation that IR images have weak details. Also, since human visual systems are more sensitive to edges, our algorithm focuses on edges. Then, we add pre-processing in learning phase. As a result, we can improve visibility of IR images without increasing computational cost. Comparing with Anchored neighborhood regression (A+), the proposed algorithm provides better results. In terms of just noticeable blur, the proposed algorithm shows higher values by 0.0201 than the A+, respectively.
