  • 미국 건설시장은 미국 전체 경제에 지대한 영향을 미치고 있다. 최근 통계에 의하면 미국 건설산업은 연간 약 4천억 달러 규모로 미국 GDP의 $4.5\%$을 차지하고 있다. 그리고 건설산업내의 치열한 경쟁 때문에 성과와 프로세스의 개선을 위해 벤치마킹이 관심을 끌고 있다. 본 글에서는 CII Benchmarking and Metrics 프로그램의 전반적인 소개와 현재까지 수집된 데이터베이스 그리고 데이터를 통계적으로 분석하여 회원사에게 제공하는 결과물을 소개하고 있다. 벤치마킹을 한국 건설시장에 도입하는 것은 한국 건설산업의 경쟁력 제고를 위한 한 방안이 될 것이다.

  • In recent years, dramatic advances in information technology have motivated the construction industry to improve its productivity. Most construction companies are trying to utilize some new information technologies for enhancing the structure quality, shortening construction time, and reducing the construction cost. Digital Mock-Up (DMU) technology utilizes 3D CAD/CAM system that shows the shape of a structure on the computer screen. By modeling and assembling the structure in 3D dimensional environments, some errors in design can be found before or during construction. In this paper, DMU technology was applied to the detail design and construction of In-Cheon Bridge and its effectiveness was evaluated. All components of a PSC box girder segment were modeled and assembled by using of 3D CAD tools and then, some interferences between components and errors were found and revised appropriately before construction. Consequently, DMU technology would improve the quality of the structure and reduce time and cost for construction.

  • Change requests occur persistently in the construction phase of a construction project. The law requires that the contract amount be adjusted in accordance with the relevant regulations when there is a change in the construction amount due to the design change in the construction contract. SAVE international, on the other hand, defines the value methodology as a systematic and structured approach to improving projects, products and processes. Design Changes in the construction projects require organizational efforts to improve value and quality. However, the law does not include change requests in which the VE object is fixed and related data is collected and function analysis can be derived in a short time. Therefore, it is necessary to apply VE to the design change procedure, which can further improve the value of construction work. The application derived from this study need to be presented as simply as possible without compromising the basic concept of VE. If the application is extended to the field and proved to be effective, it is expected to contribute to the overall value of construction work.

  • The application of knowledge management concepts as a way to improve project success is an emerging topic for project management researches around the world. The Construction Extension to the PMBOK® Guide Third Edition documents the knowledge and practices that are generally recognized as good practices for managing engineering and construction projects. However, it is not unusual to see that engineering and construction projects suffer from poor performance. Based on a critical literature review, a theoretical framework is developed for the application of knowledge management in engineering and construction projects. This framework is subsequently applied as a lens to examine the construction extension to the PMBOK® Guide, aiming to identify the key characteristics of knowledge management in this standard. This research also aims to highlight those aspects of the construction extension to the PMBOK® Guide that can be improved from the knowledge management perspective. Recommendations are made to improve this standard by means of applying knowledge management concept so that better project outcomes can be achieved.

  • New non-hybrid approaches to improve energy efficiency of construction machineries are reviewed in this paper. Hydraulic systems are classified into four classes according to Backe's classification and commercially promising new technologies are carefully chosen in each class. IMV, 3-Line CPR, Closed Circuit Displacement Control of Differential Cylinder, and Throttle-less Secondary Control are chosen as representative non-hybrid new technologies. Key principle of each technology is explained and representative references which run through each technology are selected. Advantages and weaknesses of each technology are discussed and compared from the view point of construction machinery manufacturers.

  • Apartments, which are typical residential spaces, are reconstructed or remodeled according to aging. However, reconstruction or remodeling of apartment complexes or an individual building requires following relevant laws and policies and requires a lot of time. Therefore, there are cases where apartment residents choose remodeling that improves the living environment by renovating only the interior of their household. In order to improve the interior space of an apartment, various materials such as windows, toilets, walls, and floors are replaced, and lots of matters must be considered in this process. Several problems arise in the process of selecting a remodeling company and carrying out construction, and the problem must be resolved through owner's decision-making. This study analyzes the problems through the case of apartment interior remodeling and suggests ways to improve them.

건설기술자 이미지에 대한 일반 국민과 건설기술자의 인식 비교 연구 (Comparative Study of General Public's and Construction Engineers' Perception on Images of Construction Engineers)

  • 건설기술자는 건설산업의 지속적인 성장을 위한 핵심자원이며, 건설기술자에 대한 긍정적인 이미지는 유능한 인재의 유입과 보유에 많은 영향을 끼친다. 비록 기존 연구를 통해 건설산업의 이미지는 부정적으로 진단된 경향이 있지만, 현재까지 건설기술자의 이미지에 대한 현 주소는 정확하게 진단되지 못하였다. 본 연구의 목적은 건설기술자의 이미지를 일반 국민과 건설기술자를 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하여 비교 분석하고 주요 특징 및 시사점을 도출하는데 있다. 연구 결과, 일반국민 보다 건설기술자 스스로가 건설기술자의 이미지에 대해 부정적인 경향이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 건설기술자의 이미지에 대한 일반 국민의 인식을 제고하기 위해서는 건설기술자의 정체성과 역할에 대한 이해 증진과 도덕성 제고가 가장 중요한 현안으로 나타났으며, 건설기술자의 자기 이미지 제고를 위해서는 건설산업의 생태계를 회복하는 근본적인 처방이 필요한 것으로 나타났다.

  • 건설업의 사망만인률은 더이상 줄어들지 않고 답보상태에 있으며 이를 개선하기 위한 발주, 설계, 시공, 건설사업관리 등 다양한 건설참여자 주체의 노력이 있다. 정부에서는 타 산업 대비 높은 건설업의 중대재해를 줄이기 위해 건설참여자들의 안전수준을 평가하고 이를 공표하여 경각심을 갖도록 하고 있다. 그러나 안전관리 수준평가의 항목, 기준, 절차에 있어서 현장 상황에 맞지 않는 점들이 나타나고 있어 이들의 개선이 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 안전관리에 가장 열악한 상황에 있는 건설기술용역사업자에 대한 안전관리 수준평가의 개선을 위해 기존 안전관리 수준평가 결과분석, 평가자 및 피평가자 심층인터뷰(FGI)를 시행하였으며 이를 근거로 평가의 개선방향을 도출하였다.

  • Recent opening of the era of local government and management randers study tasks concerning the improvement of the housing conditions by improving the problems in the residential conditions of the cheju Island region so as to help improve the life qualities of this legion make the area as an international resort place, and thus develop the indentify in the heat of the people in this region. The suggestions based on the study for the improvement of housing environment are summarized as follows: (1) To improve the collective housing. housing construction plan shall b made in harmony with the skylines of the Hanra mountain alongside the East-West rides across the long diameter of the oval shape of the Island, which includes 1) the construction of housing complex in harmony with and taking advantage of the natural scene of the area. and 2) the construction of variable housing readjustable in accordance with each family structure of variable housings for multi-families, which are believed not to provide quality housing conditions. Shall be entrained. (2) Encouraging the construction of detached house : 1) construction of housings in which three generations can reside together according to the traditional family structure in the region. 2) construction of the pastoral housings. 3) construction of tenement housings partitioned for each two families. 4) development of sliver town in the rural area. (3) Using the construction mateials produced in the Cheju I land will help promote the development of identity in the heart of the people in this region.

RFID Technology Applications with PMIS for Managing RMC Truck Operations

  • This research presents a strategy and information system to manage the logistics of delivery ready mixed concrete (RMC) under the integrated environment of PMIS+RFID. PMIS is system tool and technique used in construction sectors to delivery information. Information that can be extracted electronically in real time is more valuable than data gathered and maintained manually. RFID technology can help to improve data accuracy through supply chains and by identifying products and objects at specific points through automatic identification. The objectives of these two implementations can be able to improve the efficiency of logistics management for RMC truck process, and to verify the technical and practical feasibility of PMIS+RFID application in construction industry. This may be realistic given the dynamics of daily activities on construction sites. This research is focused on examples on real world case study, applications and research theme related and connected to PMIS+RFID technology. It demonstrated that PMIS+RFID technology has been automatically implemented and has shown process information about the RMC truck and the overall status information about it, both quickly and accurately. As a result, the construction site where needs 300 $m^3$ pouring (50 RMC trucks) per day can be reduced total 250 minutes. Moreover, this time saving is related to the labour cost saving. From the case studies, RFID+PMIS system was proven in terms of effectiveness rather than current method.
