  • A stochastic approach has been presented for superplastic deformation of Ti-6AJ-4V alloy, and probability function are used to heterogeneous phase distributions. The experimentally observed spatial correlation function are developed, and microstructural evolutions together with superplastic deformation behavior have investigated by means of the probability function. The result have shown that the probability varies approximately linearly with separation with distance, and significant deformation enhanced probability changes during the deformation. The stress-strain behavior with the evolutions of probability function can be correctly predicted by the model. The finite clement implementation using Monte Carlo simulation associated with phase re-distributions shows that better agreement with experimental data of failure strain on the test specimen.

  • This paper proposes an optimal dynamic resource allocation method in IoT (Internet of Things) parking guidance system using Q-learning resource allocation model. In the proposed method, a resource allocation using a forecasting model based on Q-learning is employed for optimal utilization of parking guidance system. To demonstrate efficiency and availability of the proposed method, it is verified by computer simulation and practical testbed. Through simulation results, this paper proves that the proposed method can enhance total throughput, decrease penalty fee issued by SLA (Service Level Agreement) and reduce response time with the dynamic number of users.

  • This paper presents a modem approach for speed control of a PMSM using the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm to optimize the parameters of the PI-Controller. The overall system simulated under various operating conditions and an experimental setup is prepared. The use of PSO as an optimization algorithm makes the drive robust, with faster dynamic response, higher accuracy and insensitive to load variation. Comparison between different controllers is achieved, using a PI controller which is tuned by two methods, firstly manually and secondly using the PSO technique. The system is tested under variable operating conditions. Implementation of the experimental setup is done. The simulation results show good dynamic response with fast recovery time and good agreement with experimental controller.

  • An experimental 2400bps modem emlpoying 4-phase DPSK in compliance with the CCITT recommendation V.26 is developed. Integrated circuits are used throughtout the circuit implementation, including active filters and a semiconductor delay line. A new timing recovery scheme is proposed and adopted successfully. The error rate perfromance is found to be in fair agreement with the theoretical prediction.

  • This study is focused on the design and performance test of shaking table using stepping motor. Stepping motor can control the motion accurately with generated pulses and is applied to the shaking table. Earthquakes like El Centro and Taft are used as inputs to the shaking table. First, the number of pulses are calculated and sent to pulse generator. Then, the generator controls the table according to the pulse signs. It is shown that the measured signals from the table are in very good agreement with input signals of scale-downed earthquakes of El Centro and Taft. This table will be used for the experimental study of small-scaled building structures with tuned mass dampers under earthquakes.

  • The occurrence of the shift work disorder (SWD) in health-care workers (HCWs) employed in 24/7 hospital wards is a major concern through the world. In accordance with literature, SWD is the most frequent work-related disturb in HCWs working on shift schedules including night shift. In agreement with the Luxembourg Declaration on workplace health promotion (WHP) in the European Union, a WHP program has been developed in a large Hospital, involving both individual-oriented and organizational-oriented measures, with the aim to prevent the occurrence of SWD in nurses working on shifts including night shift. The objective assessment of rotating shift work risk and the excessive sleepiness were detected before and after the implementation of the WHP program, by using the Rotating Shiftwork-questionnaire and the Epworth Sleepiness Scale. The findings of this study showed the effectiveness of the implemented WHP program in minimizing the impact of shift work on workers' health and in preventing the misalignment between sleep-wake rhythm and shift working.

  • When carbon-filled rubber specimens are subjected to cyclic loading, they do not return to their initial state after loading and subsequent unloading, but exhibit a residual strain or permanent deformation. We propose a specific form of the pseudo-elastic energy function to represent cyclic loading for incompressible, isotropic materials with stress softening and residual strain. The essence of the pseudo-elasticity theory is that material behaviour in the primary loading path is described by a common elastic strain energy function, and in unloading, reloading or secondary unloading paths by a different strain energy function. The switch between strain energy functions is controlled by the incorporation of a damage variable into the strain energy function. An extra term is added to describe the permanent deformation. The finite element implementation of the proposed model is presented in this paper. All parameters in the proposed model and elastic law can be easily estimated based on experimental data. The numerical analyses show that the results are in good agreement with experimental data.

  • In this paper, the SPICE 2.G6 JFET subroutine and other related subroutines are modified for circuit simulation of GaAs MESFET IC's. The hyperbolic tangent model is used for the drain current-voltage characteristics of GaAs MESFET's and derived channel-conductance and drain-conductance model from the above current model are implemented into small-signal model of GaAs MESFET's. And, device capacitance model which consider after-pinch-off state are modified, and device charge model for SPICE 2G.6 are proposed. The result of modification is shown to be suitable for GaAs circuit simulator, showing good agreement with experimetal results. Forthermore the DC convergence of this paper is better than that of SPICE 2.G JFET subroutine. GaAs MESFET model in this paper is applied for both depletion mode GaAs MESFET and enhancement-mode GaAs MESFET without difficulty.

  • The boundary of a typical period-2 component in the degree-3 bifurcation set is formulated by a parametrization of its image which is the unit circle under the multiplier map. Some properties on the geometry of the boundary are investigated including the root point, the cusp and the length as well as the area bounded by the boundary curve. The centroid of the area for the period-2 component was numerically found with high accuracy and compared with its center. An algorithm drawing the boundary curve with Mathematica codes is proposed and its implementation exhibits a good agreement with the analysis presented here.

  • In this paper, a new synapse cell with nonvolatile SONOS semiconductor memory device is proposed and it's fundamental function electronically implemented SONOS NVSM has shown characteristics that the memory value, synaptic weights, can be increased or decreased incrementally. A novel SONOS synapse is used to read out the stored analog value. For the purpose of synapse implementation using SONOS NVSM, this work has investigated multiplying characteristics including weight updating characteristics and neuron output characteristics. It is concluded that SONOS synapse cell has good agreement for use as a synapse in artificial neural networks.
