원심펌프 계통의 고장검출진단시스템 : 등가관계 접근법 (Fault Detection and lsolation System for centrifugal-Pump Systems: Parity Relation Approach)

  • This paper deals with a fault detection and isolation scheme for a DC motor driven centrifugal pump system. The emphasis is placed on the design and implementation of the residual generatorm, based on parity relation, that provides decision logic unit with residuals that will be further processed to detect and isolate three important faults in the system;brush fault, impeller fault, and the speed sensor fault. Two process faults are modelled as multiplicative type faults, while the sensor fault as an additive one. With multiplicative fault, the implementation of the residual generator needs the time varying transformation matrix that must be computed on-line. Typical implementation methods lack in generality because only a numerical approximation around the assumed fault levels is employed. In this paper, a new implementation method using well tranined neural network is proposed to improve the generality of the residual generator. Application results show that the fault detection and isolation scheme with the proposed residual generator effectively isolates three major faults in the centrifugal pump system even with a wide range of fault magnitude.

자동차용 워터펌프의 스퀼소음 저감을 위한 영향도 분석 (Parametric Study for the Squeal Noise Reduction of an Automobile Water Pump)

  • In this study, a parametric study is performed to investigate the squeal noise of an automobile water pump. The squeal noise studied in this paper is generated by the self-excited torsional resonance of the rotating shaft, and this noise is related to the stick-slip phenomenon of the mechanical seal in the water pump. The mechanical seal friction has the characteristics of the negative velocity-gradient. The equations of motion of multiple-degree-of-freedom torsional vibration model is constructed by the Holzer's method and then the equation is transformed to an equivalent single-degree-of-freedom torsional resonance simulation model. A squeal noise criteria is determined by the simulation model to perform the parametric study. The design parameters(the mass moment of inertia of the pulley, the mass moment of inertia of the impeller, the length of the shafts, the radius of the shafts, spinning speed of the shafts, the position of the mechanical seal, radius of the mechanical seal, and normal load of the mechanical seal) are investigated to confirm the stability for the squeal noise.

재생펌프 소음특성의 측정 및 해석에 관한 연구 (The measurement and analysis of Regenerative Pump Noise)

  • In this paper, the characteristic of the regenerative pump is reviewed by the measurement and the analysis. The dominant noise sources are harmonic components of the rotating impeller frequency. The acoustic characteristics and the noise source position at the dump are identified. In order to reduce the high-level peak noise, the interior flow of the pump chamber is analyzed by CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics). Acoustic pressure is calculated with Ffowscs Williams and Hawkings equation. As the result of the analysis new design of the pump chamber is recommended. The recommended pump is compared with original pump by evaluating the RMS value of a interior static pressure and the sound pressure level. The new pump chamber recommended by analysis results is proved by a process of the measurement. The overall SPL of a recommended pump is reduced about 3 dBA.

수륙양용장갑차용 워터젯 추진기 캐비테이션 성능 평가 (Evaluation of Waterjet Cavitating Performances for a Amphibious Vehicle )

  • Cavitation tests for a waterjet propulsor of an amphibious vehicle are carried out in the Large Cavitation Tunnel. Waterjet pump performances and cavitation characteristics including thrust breakdown performances are investigated in the tests. In addition, cavitation characteristics for waterjet propulsors working inside the intake are calculated by using a commercial CFD code, Star-CCM+. Sliding mesh is implemented to a rotating impeller and the k-epsilon turbulence model is chosen. Cavitation bubble growth and collapse are estimated using the Schnerr-Sauer cavitation model based on Rayleigh-Plasset equation. Calculated results agree fairly well with experimental results. The re-design of the waterjet propulsor is performed to enhance waterjet cavitating performances and calculated results show that waterjet thrust breakdown characteristics are significantly improved.

Study on the cantilever ratio optimization of high-temperature molten salt pump for molten salt reactor based on structural integrity

  • The high-temperature molten salt pump is the core equipment in the small modular molten salt reactor with media temperatures up to 700 ℃. The cantilever ratio of the molten salt pump is usually large. Excessively large cantilever ratios cause increased deformations and rotational amplitudes at the impeller, thus affecting the operational stability of the main pump; small cantilever ratios cause heavy temperature gradients, thus affecting the structural integrity evaluation. This paper used numerical simulation methods to calculate and analyze the temperature field, stress, and structural integrity, optimized the pump shaft cantilever length of the original scheme based on structural integrity using the dichotomy method, and analyzed the rotor dynamics of the optimization results. The results of this study show that the thermal expansion load caused by the temperature difference has a significant mechanical effect on the structure; the first-order critical speed of the rotor system of the optimized schemes has been improved, and the amplitude of the unbalanced response has been significantly reduced, which not only improves the operational stability of the rotor, also contributes to the compact design of the main pump of a small modular molten salt reactor.

Comparative study on the performance of Pod type waterjet by experiment and computation

  • A comparative study between a computation and an experiment has been conducted to predict the performance of a Pod type waterjet for cm amphibious wheeled vehicle. The Pod type waterjet has been chosen on the basis of the required specific speed of more than 2500. As the Pod type waterjet is an extreme type of axial flow type waterjet, theoretical as well as experimental works about Pod type waterjets are very rare. The main purpose of the present study is to validate and compare to the experimental results of the Pod type waterjet with the developed CFD in-house code based on the RANS equations. The developed code has been validated by comparing with the experimental results of the well-known turbine problem. The validation also extended to the flush type waterjet where the pressures along the duct surface and also velocities at nozzle area have been compared with experimental results. The Pod type waterjet has been designed and the performance of the designed waterjet system including duct, impeller and stator was analyzed by the previously mentioned m-house CFD Code. The pressure distributions and limiting streamlines on the blade surfaces were computed to confirm the performance of the designed waterjets. In addition, the torque and momentum were computed to find the entire efficiency and these were compared with the model test results. Measurements were taken of the flow rate at the nozzle exit, static pressure at the various sections along the duct and also the nozzle, revolution of the impeller, torque, thrust and towing forces at various advance speed's for the prediction of performance as well as for comparison with the computations. Based on these measurements, the performance was analyzed according to the ITTC96 standard analysis method. The full-scale effective and the delivered power of the wheeled vehicle were estimated for the prediction of the service speed. This paper emphasizes the confirmation of the ITTC96 analysis method and the developed analysis code for the design and analysis of the Pod type waterjet system.

저소음 청소기 개발 (Low Noise Vacuum Cleaner Design)

  • Vacuum cleaner is a close life product that can remove various dusts from our surroundings. However well vacuum cleaner clean our environments, many people are looking away from it, due to its loud noise. Its noise causes a big trouble in the usual life, for example, catch calls, TV watching and discussing etc. To reduce these inconveniences, noise reduction methods and systematic design of low noise vacuum cleaner are studied in this paper. At first, sound quality investigation is performed to get the noise level and quality that make people TV watching and catch calls available. Based on the European and domestic customer SQ survey result, sound power, peak noise level and target sound spectrum guideline are studied and introduced. As a second, precise product sound spectrums are designed into each part based on the sound quality result. Fan-motor, brush, mainbody, cyclone spectrums are decided to get the final target sound based on the contribution level. Fan-motor is the major noise source of vacuum cleaner. Specially, its peak sound, RPM peak and BPF Peak, cause the people nervous. To reduce these peak sounds, high rotating impeller and diffuser are focused due to its interaction. A lot of experimental and numerical tests, operation points are investigated and optimization of flow path area between diffusers is performed. As a bagless device, cyclones are one of the major noise sources of vacuum cleaner. To reduce its noise, previous research is used and adopted well. Brush is the most difficult part to reduce noise. Its noise sources are all comes from aero-acoustic phenomena. Numerical analysis helps the understanding of flow structure and pattern, and a lot of experimental test are performed to reduce the noise. Gaps between the carpet and brush are optimized and flow paths are re-designed to lower the noise. Reduction is performed with keeping the cleaning efficiency and handling power together and much reduction of noise is acquired. With all above parts, main-body design is studied. To do a systematic design, configuration design developments technique is introduced from airplane design and evolved with each component design. As a first configuration, fan-motor installation position is investigated and 10 configuration ideas are developed and tested. As a second step, reduced size and compressed configuration candidates are tested and evaluated by a lot of major factor. Noise, power, mass production availability, size, flow path are evaluated together. If noise reduction configuration results in other performance degrade, the noise reduction configuration is ineffective. As a third configuration, cyclones are introduced and the size is reduced one more time and fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh configuration are evolved with size and design image with noise and other performance indexes. Finally we can get a overall much noise level reduction configuration. All above investigations are adopted into vacuum cleaner design and final customer satisfaction tests in Europe are performed. 1st grade sound quality and lowest noise level of bagless vacuum cleaner are achieved.

수소 재순환 블로어 소음 진동 저감을 위한 설계 및 제어에 관한 연구 (The Study of the Design and Control for the Hydrogen Recirculation Blower Noise and Vibration Reduction)

  • At the fuel processing system (FPS) of fuel cell vehicle, hydrogen recirculation blower (HRB) is used for the recirculation of remained hydrogen after reaction. In this paper, noise and vibration improvement of HRB is studied by changing design and control. It is checked the campbell diagram and critical speed for stability of rotor, and housing stiffness is improved using simulation of frequency response function (FRF). A method is suggested that can decrease the unbalance amount of the rotor and impeller which main source of noise and vibration. In order to reduce the noise during deceleration of blower, electrical braking is applied and tested the risk impact of durability. Founded the optimum switching frequency of the motor control, and reduced the idle rpm by increasing of aerodynamic performance. The superiority of paper is proved by measurement of the improved product's noise and vibration.

항공기용 연료승압펌프 모터 조립체 설계에 대한 연구 (A Study on the Design and Analysis of the Fuel Boost Pump Motor Assembly for an Aircraft)

  • 항공기에서 사용되는 연료펌프를 민군겸용구성품개발사업을 통하여 국내 최초로, 국내 독자기술로 개발하였다. 연료승압펌프의 모터 조립체에 있어서 모터는 효율성, 내구성, 내폭발성 등의 관점에서 DC 브러시 모터보다 특성이 우수한 BLDC 형식을 채택하였다. Maxwell 방정식과 환경조건을 활용하고 자속밀도를 통하여 전자기해석을 수행하였다. 설계를 검증하기 위하여 유한요소법을 이용하여 부하에 따른 모터성능을 해석하였고 모터 드라이브와 EMI 필터를 설계하여 모터 조립체가 개발되었다. 연료승압펌프 모터 조립체의 성능시험 결과는 해석결과와 매우 일치하는 것으로 확인되었다.

선박용 터보차져 원심압축기의 성능향상 개발 (Upgrade Development of a Centrifugal Compressor for Marine Engine Turbochargers)

  • 선박용 디젤엔진에 정착되어 사용되는 기존의 터보차져 성능을 개량하기 위하여 압축기만의 수정개발을 수행한 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. (1) 터빈과의 싸이클 matching 작업을 통하여 기존의 압축기 성능에 비하여 $7\%$ 증가된 회전수와 $8\%$ 증가된 입구 공기유량으로 상향 조정되면서 효율의 큰 저하 없이 전압력비도 3.5 수준으로 증가되도록 설계점이 성공적으로 확정되었다. (2) 기존의 압축기 케이싱과 스크롤을 대부분 그대로 사용한다는 기하학적 제한조건하에서 3차원 공력 설계가 성공적으로 수행되었고, 설계된 임펠러는 3차원 압축성 난류 수치유동해석 과정을 통해 구체적인 내부 유동과 임펠러의 overall 성능을 확인하였다. (3) 터보차져 전용 시험리그에서 시제품을 성능시험한 결과, 전반적인 압축기의 성능곡선을 성공적으로 도출하였다. 대체적으로 전체 회전수별로 실험결과로 얻은 전압력비는 설계 예측치와 매우 잘 일치하는 모습을 볼 수 있었고, 단열효율의 경우, 실험치와 예측치가 서로 잘 일치하고 있었다. 설계의도대로 설계점에서의 압력비 상승과 유량의 증가 등은 만족스럽게 달성된 것으로 판단된다. (4) 베인디퓨져의 제작문제로 인하여 설계회전수에서의 surge와 choke margin이 설계의도와는 달리 좋지 않은 상태이다. 이는 본래 설계대로 베인디퓨져를 재제작하고 설치각의 크기를 조절함으로써 앞으로 진행될 추가시험에서 보완할 예정이다.
