The impact force on the single and overlap region of twin spray was experimentally evaluated using visualization method in full cone type swirl nozzle spray. Visualization of spray was conducted to obtain the spray angle and breakup process. The photography/imaging technique, based on Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) using high-speed camera, was adopted for the direct observation of droplet motion and axial velocity measurement, respectively. Droplet size was measured by Particle Motion Analyze System (PMAS). The purpose of this study is to provide fundamental information of spray characteristics, such as impact force, for higher etching factor in the practical wet etching system. It was found that the spray angle, axial velocity and impact force were increased with increasing the nozzle pressure while droplet size decreased with increasing the nozzle pressure. Droplet size increased as the distance from nozzle tip was decreased. The impact force of twin spray in the overlap region was about 63.29, 67.02, 52.41% higher than that of single spray at 40, 50 and 60 mm of nozzle pitch, respectively. Also, the nozzle pitch was one of the important factors in the twin spray characteristics.
Continuous operation of test and measurement is a new operating technique in the petroleum exploitation, which combines perforation with test and measurement effectively. In order to measure the original pressure of stratum layer exactly and prevent testing instrument from being impaired or damaged, a suitable shock absorber is urgently necessary to research. Based on the attempt on the FEM analysis and experiment research, a new shock absorber is designed and discussed in this paper. 3D finite element model is established and simulated accurately by LS-DYNA, the effect and the dynamic character of the shock absorber impact by half sinusoidal pulse force under the main lobe frequency are discussed both on theoretics and experiment. It is shown that the new designed shock absorber system has good capability of shock absorption for the impact load.

In this study, characteristics of impact force and impact sound of impact source such as bang machine, impact ball, and children's jumping were review. Results of review showed that impact ball has most similar characteristic to real impact sources in terms of objective properties such as impact force and impact sound. The effects of various isolator on floor impact sound were also investigated in apartment building and test facilities building using bang machine an impact ball. From the field measurement, it was found that the difference in reduction sound level between bang machine and impact ball was relatively large and the reduction sound level by impact ball was much larger than bang machine.

The aims of this study were to Investigate the floor impact noise isolation performance of floating floor with isolation materials and propose the improvement direction of floor impact noise measurement method and evaluation classes using impact ball. Reduction of light-weight impact sound pressure level can be achieved by the finishing materials, such as vinyl finishing material and wooden flooring with isolation materials. Floor impact noise Isolation material which satisfy the properties of the floor impact noise isolation materials cause resonance in the low frequency band and worsen heavy-weight impact sound pressure level. Heavy-weight impact sound level can be reduced by using noise reduction flooring, ceiling and increase of slab thickness. Strong impact force in low frequency bang below 63Hz of bang machine is not similar to human impact source and causes some problem in evaluating heavy-weight impact noise but heavy-weight impact noise measurement and evolution using impact ball which is very similar to human impact is more reliable than bang machine. Correction value on the background noise and sensitivity of residents should be considered on the floor impact noise evaluation classes.

A drop weight type impact test system is designed and set up to experimentally investigate impact responses of composite laminates subjected to the low-velocity impact. Using the test system, the impact velocity and the rebound velocity of the impactor as well as the impact force history are measured. An error of the measured data due to a difference in measuring position of the sensor is corrected and, for the estimation of real contact force history, a method of correcting an error due to friction forces is developed. Experimental methods to fix the boundary edgy of laminate specimens in impact testing are investigated and the impact tests on the specimens fixed by those methods are performed. Impact force histories and dynamic strains measured from the tests are compared with numerical results from the finite element analysis using the contact law. Consequently, the nonlinear numerical results considering the large deflection effects are agreed with the experimental results better than the linear ones.
This article deals with the reconstruction of an impact force. This requires to take measurements from the impacted structures and then to deconvolve those signals from the impulse response function. More precisely, the purpose of the work described here is to analyse the method of deconvolution and the problems that it implies. Thus, it is highlighted that the associated deconvolution problem depends on the location of the measurement points: it is possible or not to reconstruct the force of impact in function of the location of this point. Then, the role of the antiresonances is linked up with this problem. The singular value decomposition is used to understand these difficulties. Numerical predictions are compared and validated with experiments.

Impact between fruits and other materials is a major cause of product damage in harvesting and handling systems. The oriental pears are more susceptible to bruising than other fruits such as European pears and apples, and are required more careful handling. The interest in the handling of the pears for the processing systems has raised the question of the allowable drop height to which pears can be dropped without causing objectionable damage. Drop tests on pears were conducted using an impact device developed by authors to estimate the allowable drop height without bruising. The impact device was constructed to hold in a selected orientation and to release a fruit by vacuum for dropping on to a force transducer. The drop height was adjustable for zero to 60 cm to achieve the desired distance between the bottom of the fruits and the top of the impact force transducer. The transducer was secured to 150 kg$\sub$f/ concrete block. The transducer signal was sampled every 0.17 ms with a strain gage measurement board in the micro computer where it was digitaly stored for later analysis. The selected sample fruit was Niitaka cultivar of pears which is one of the most promising fruit for export in Korea. The pears were harvested during the 1998 harvest season from an orchard in Daejeon. The sample fruit was selected from two groups which were stored for 3 months and 5 months respectively by the method of current commercial practice. The pears were allowed to stabilize at environmental condition(18$^{\circ}C$, 65% rh) of the experimental room. One hundred fifty six pears were tested from the heights of 5, 7.5. 10 and 12.5 cm while measurement were made of impact peak force, contact time, time to peak force, dwell time, pear diameter and mass. The bioyield strength and modulus of elasticity were measured using UTM immediately after each drop test. The allowable drop height was estimated on the base of bioyield strength of the pears in two ways. One was assumed the peak force during impact test increasing linearly with time, and the other was based on the actual drop test results. The computer program was developed for measuring the impact characteristics of the pears and analyzing the data obtained in the study. The peak force increased while contact times decreased with increasing drop height and contact times of the sample from the hard tissue group. The allowable drop height increased with increasing bioyield strength and contact times, and also varied with Poisson\`s ratio, mass and equilibrium radius of the pears. The allowable drop height calculated by a theoretical method was in the range from 1 to 4 cm, meanwhile, the estimated drop height considering the result of the impact test was in the range from 1 to 6 cm. Since the physical properties of fruits affected significantly the allowable drop height, the physical properties of the fruits should be considered when estimating the allowable drop height.
This paper contributes to development of a new chip mounting head system for flip chip. Recently, the LDM(Linear DC Motor) has been widely used, because it has particular merits than the rotary type motors. In this paper, we proposed a macro/micro positioning system for force control of a chip mounting system. In the proposed macro/micro system, the macro actuator provide the system with a gross motion while the micro device yields fine tuned motion to reduce the harmful impact force that occurs between very small sized electronic parts and PCB surface. In order to prove the effectiveness of the proposed macro/micro chip mounting system, we compared the proposed chip mounting head with the conventional chip mounting head equipped with a macro actuator only. A series of experiments were executed under the mounting conditions of various access velocities and PCB stiffness. As a result of this study, a satisfactory voice coil actuator as the micro actuator has been developed, and its performance meet well the specifications desired for the design of the chip mounting head system and show good correspondence between theoretical analysis and experimental results.
In order to obtain the dynamic response behavior of the rock subjected to blasting loading, a shock-proof high sensitivity impact sensor which can measure high frequency dynamic force and strain events should be adopted. Because the impact sensors which uses quartz and piezoelectric element are costly, generally the strain measurement-based impact (SMI) sensors are applied to high speed loading devices. In this study, dynamic Brazilian tension tests of granitic rocks was conducted using the Nonex Rock Cracker (NRC) reaction driven-high speed loading device which adopts SMI sensors. The dynamic response of the granite specimens were monitored and the intermediate strain rate dependency of Brazilian tensile strengths was discussed.

To reduce the structure-born sound by floor impact source in an apartment building, it is necessary to identify the relationship between floor impact sound and vibration. Various impact sources which were made by a bang machine and an impact ball were used for measurement of impact sound and vibration. The experimental results show that the linear relationship between floor impact sound and vibration was in existence despite of various floor impact sources.
