Damage behaviors induced in silicon carbide by an impact of particle having different material and size were investigated. Especially, the influence of the impact velocity of particle on the cone crack shape developed was mainly discussed. The damage induced by spherical impact was different depending on the material and size of particles. Ring cracks on the surface of specimen were multiplied by increasing the impact velocity of particle. The steel particle impact produced larger ring cracks than that of SiC particle. In the case of high velocity impact of SiC particle, radial cracks were produced due to the inelastic deformation at the impact site. In the case of the larger particle impact, the damage morphology developed was similar to the case of smaller particle one, but a percussion cone was farmed from the back surface of specimen when the impact velocity exceeded a critical value. The zenithal angle of cone cracks developed into SiC material decreased monotonically with increasing of the particle impact velocity. The size and material of particle influenced more or less on the extent of cone crack shape. An empirical equation, $\theta$= $\theta$$\sub$st/, v$\sub$p/(90-$\theta$$\sub$st/)/500 R$\^$0.3/($\rho$$_1$/$\rho$$_2$)$\^$$\frac{1}{2}$/, was obtained as a function of impact velocity of the particle, based on the quasi-static zenithal angle of cone crack. It is expected that the empirical equation will be helpful to the computational simulation of residual strength in ceramic components damaged by the particle impact.
The purpose of this research was to analyze kinematic variables that appear during the instep shooting motion of female high school soccer players according to the angle of approach to find effective shooting motions. For this experiment, 5 female high school soccer players from the K city were participated in this study as the subject group, and as a through comparison and analysis of the resulting numbers of the variables, we came to the following conclusions. 1) Stride length and stride length/lower extremity length increased as the angle of approach increased. 2) As for C.O.G movement displacement, it was highest at an approach angle of $90^{\circ}$ during Right Foot Contact, at $135^{\circ}$ during Left Foot Contact, at $0^{\circ}$ during Rigth Toe Top, at $45^{\circ}$ during Impact, and at $0^{\circ}$ during Follow through. 3) The time required for each phase was longest at APP and shortest at BSP. The time required increased a little as the angle of approach increased, and the total time required also increased as the angle of approach increased. 4) The angle of the ankle joint was largest at an approach angle of $45^{\circ}$ for all events except Right Foot Contact. 5) The angle of the knee joint was largest at an approach angle of $135^{\circ}$ during Right Foot Contact, at $0^{\circ}$ during Left Foot Contact, at $45^{\circ}$ during Right Toe Top, at $135^{\circ}$ during Impact, and at $90^{\circ}$ during Follow through. 6) The angle of the hip joint was largest at an approach angle of $90^{\circ}$ during Right Foot Contact, at$0^{\circ}$ during Left Foot Contact, at $0^{\circ}$ during Right Toe Top, at $90^{\circ}$ during Impact, and at $0^{\circ}$ during Follow through.
To know the proper impact posture and changes for the various clubs, changes of impact variables according to the change of golf club length was investigated. Swing motions of three male low handicappers including a professional were taken using two high-speed video cameras. Four clubs iron 7, iron 5, iron 3 and driver (wood 1) were selected for this experiment. Three dimensional motion analysis techniques were used to get the kinematical variables. Mathcad and Kwon3D motion analysis program were used to analyze the position, distance and angle data in three dimensions. Major findings of this study were as follows. 1. Lateral position of the head remained more right side of the target up to 3.5cm compared to the setup as the length of the club increased. 2. Left shoulder raised up to 5cm and right shoulder lowered up to 2.5cm compared to setup. The shoulder line opened slightly (maximum 11 degrees) to the target line. 3. Forward lean angle of the trunk decreased up to 4 degrees (more erected) compared to setup. 4. Side lean angle of the trunk increased compared to setup and increased up to 16 degrees as the club length increased. 5. The pelvis moved to the target line direction horizontally and opened up to 31 degrees. Right hip moves laterally to the grip position at the setup. 6. Flexion of the left leg maintained almost constantly but the right leg flexed up to 11 degrees compared to setup. 7. Left arm is straightened but the right arm flexed about 20degrees compared to straight. 8. Center of the shoulders were in front of the knees and toes of the feet. 9. Hands moved to the left (8.7cm), forward (5.7cm) and upward (11.6cm) compared to the setup. This is because of the rotation of pelvis and shoulders. 10. Shaft angle to the ground was smaller than the lie angle of the clubs but it increased close to the lie of the clubs at impact.
The purpose of this study was to analyze kinematic variables in the badminton smash motion through 3-dimensional image analysis. The kinematic variables were velocity of joints in upper limbs, the angle of wrist in the impact, and the angular velocity of the top of racket head. The smash motions of four male badminton players in H University and four male students at department of the physical education in K University who were not majoring in badminton were analyzed kinematically and the attained conclusions were as follow. 1. The velocity of segments in upper limbs of the unskilled group was faster than that of the skilled group. The movement pattern was fast back swing-slow impact moment-fast fellow through in the unskilled group, but slow back swing-fast impact moment-slow follow through in the sullied group. 2. As the BS phases, the velocity of segment in right shoulder was different significantly between groups. Right elbow and right wrist segments, velocity of racket head was different significantly between groups(p<.05) by IP phases. As the FT phases, there was no significant difference. 3. The angle of right wrist at the impact, the angle of palm flexion and the angle of palm flexion in aspect were shown that the skilled group was higher than unskilled group. There was no significant difference. 4. The velocity of racket head was shown that the unskilled group has fast velocity, but the angle velocity was shown the unskilled group has slow. 5. The angle velocity of racket head in aspect were no significant difference between groups, but maximal angle velocity was different significantly between groups(p<.05).

This paper investigates the collapse characteristics of CF/Epoxy composite tubes subjected to axial loads as changing interlaminar number and outer ply orientation angle. The tubes are aften used for automobiles, aerospace vehicles, trains, ships, and elevators. We have performed static and dynamic impact collapse tests by a way of building impact test machine with vertical air compression. It is fanad that CF/Epoxy tube of the 6 interlaminar number (C-type) with 90$^{\circ}$ outer orientation angle and trigger absorbed more energy than the other tubes (A. B and D-types). Also collapse mode depended upon outer orientation angle of CF/Epoxy tubes and loading type as well; typical collapse modes of CF/Epoxy tubes are wedged, splayed and fragmentcl.
Falling related injuries are categorized as the most serious and common medical problems experienced by the elderly, hip joint fracture, one of the most serious consequences of falling in the elderly, occurs in only about 1% of falling. Nevertheless, hip fracture accounts for a considerable part of the disability, death, and medical costs associated with falling. In this study, we considered the impact angle and displacement rate in falling as another factor affecting femoral strength. Using a fresh-frozen human femur, we developed system to simulate the falling condition and then conducted the experiments changing the impact angle (0$^{\circ}$, 15$^{\circ}$, 30$^{\circ}$) of proximal femur. Also, in order to analyze the relative risk due to falling to normal situation in proximal femur, we did the static test simulating the two-legged stance condition. The results showed that the change in impact angle affected the strain distribution in proximal femur, and that a large deformation in femoral neck than in other sites. Furthermore despite low impact velocity, a large deformation in proximal femur occurred in the impact test and different strain distribution was observed compare to the static case.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the kinematic characteristics of Ice hockey slap shot. The subjects of this study were four professional ice hockey players. The reflective markers were attached on the anatomical boundary line of body and the subjects were asked to perform the shot. Ariel Performance Analysis System was used to capture and digitize the shooting image, the data were analyzed by LabView 6i. The results were as fellows. 1. The period of the back swing phase was $0.542{\pm}0.062sec$, the down swing phase was $0.28{\pm}0.056sec$ and the total swing time was $0.825{\pm}0.017sec$ 2. The maximum linear velocity of the stick blade for x direction was shown after 7% of impact, for y, z direction were shown before 2%, 8% of Impact. 3. The maximum velocity of each segment for the left arm was $2.35{\pm}0.05m/s$ in the upper arm, $3.56{\pm}0.34m/s$ in the forearm, $4.75{\pm}0.67m/s$ in the hand. 4. The maximum velocity of each segment for the right arm was $4.67{\pm}0.43m/s$ in the upper arm, $7.22{\pm}0.69m/s$ in the forearm, $9.42{\pm}0.89m/s$ in the hand. 5. The angle of left elbow was generally flexed from the ready stance to the impact and was $82.26{\pm}3.45^{\circ}$ the moment of Impact. 6. The angle of the left shoulder was increased ut the down swing phase and was $78.74{\pm}4.78^{\circ}$ on the moment of impact. 7. The angle of the right shoulder was decreased in the down swing phase and increased before the impact. and the angle was $51.28{\pm}3.54^{\circ}$ on the moment of impact.
The object of this paper is to investigate collapse characteristics of CF/Epoxy(Carbon Fiber/Epoxy resin) composite tubes on the change of interlaminar number and fiber orientation angle of outer and to evaluate reappearance of collapse characteristics on the change of tension strength of fibers under static and impact axial compression loads. When a CF/Epoxy composite tube is mushed, static/impact energy is consumed by friction between the loading plate and the splayed fiends of the tube, by fracture of the fibers, matrix and their interface. In general, CF/Epoxy tube with 6 interlaminar number(C-type) absorbed more energy than other tubes(A, B, D-types). The maximum collapse load seemed to increase as the interlaminar number of such tubes increases. The collapse mode depended upon orientation angle of outer of CF/Epoxy tubes and loading status(static/impact). Typical collapse modes of CF/Epoxy tubes are wedge collapse mode, splaying collapse mode and fragmentation collapse mode. The wedge collapse mode was shorn in case of CF/Epoxy tubes with 0$^{\circ}$ orientation angle of outer under static and impact loadings. The splaying collapse mode was shown in only case of CF/Epoxy tubes with 90$^{\circ}$ orientation angie or outer under static loadings, however in impact tests those were collapsed in fragmentation mode. So that CF/Epoxy tube with 6 interlaminar number and 90$^{\circ}$ outer orientation angle presented to the optimal collapse characteristics.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relations between the segments of the body, the three dimensional anatomical angle according to sweep shot in ice hockey. The subjects of this study were five professional ice hockey players. The reflective makers were attached on anatomical boundary line of body. For the movement analysis three dimensional cinematographical method(APAS) was used and for the calculation of the kinematic variables a self developed program was used with the LabVIEW 6.1 graphical programming(Johnson, 1999) program. By using Eular's equations the three dimensional anatomical Cardan angles of the joint and ice hockey stick were defined. 1. In three dimensional linear velocity of blade the Y axis showed maximum linear velocity almost impact, the X axis(horizontal direction) and the Z axis(vertical direction) maximum linear velocity of blade did not show at impact but after impact this will resulted influence upon hitting puck. 2. The resultant linear velocity of each segment of right arm showed maximum resultant linear velocity at impact. It could be suggest that the right arm swing patterns is kind of push-like movement. therefore the upper arm is the most important role in the right arm swing. 3. The three dimensional anatomical angular displacement of trunk in flexion-extension showed flexion all around the wrist shot. The angular displacement of trunk in internal-external rotation showed internal rotation angle at the backswing top and and increased the angle after the impact. while there is no significant adduction-abduction. 4. The three dimensional anatomical angular displacement of trunk showed most important role in wrist shot. and is follwed by shoulder joints, in addition the movement of elbow/wrist joints showed least to the shot. this study result showed upperlimb of left is more important role than upperlimb of right.
The kinematics involved in different landing strategies may be related to the occurrence of trauma. Several sources suggest that the angle of knee extension on touchdown and impact with the ground determines the magnitude of the impact force and, indirectly, knee loading. This study compared the initial knee angle and maximum knee flexion angle at the instant of impact on drop-landings between healthy men and women. In this study, 60 participants (30 males, 30 females) dropped from a height of 43 cm. A digital camera and video motion analysis software were used to analyze the kinematic data. When landing, there was significant difference between the two groups ($15.67{\pm}6.05^{\circ}$ in male, $24.10{\pm}6.34^{\circ}$ in female) in the mean knee flexion angle. The range of knee flexion on landing ($44.06{\pm}10.97^{\circ}$ in male, $36.96{\pm}9.99^{\circ}$ in female) also differed significantly (p<.05). The greater knee flexion that was observed in the male subjects would be expected to decrease their risk of injury. Women land with smaller range of knee flexion than men and this might increase the likelihood of a knee injury.
