  • The objective of this paper is to develop the new robust and adaptive control system against external environments as applying the probabilistic recognition which is one of the inherent properties of immune system, ability of learning and memorization, and regulation theory of immune network to the system under engineering point of view. In this paper, HIA(Humoral Immune Algorithm) PID controller using Neural Network Identifier was proposed to drive the autonomous guided vehicle(AGV) more effectively. To verify the performance of the proposed HIA PID controller, some experiments for the control of steering and speed of that AGV are performed.

  • An immune system has powerful abilities such as memory recognition and learning how to respond to invading antigens, and has been applied to many engineering algorithms in recent year. In this paper, the combined optimization algorithm (Immune-Genetic Algorithm: IGA) is proposed for multi-optimization problems by introduction the capability of the immune system that controls the proliferation of clones to the genetic algorithm. The new combined algorithm is applied to minimize the total weight of the rotor shaft and the transmitted forces at the bearings in order to demonstrate the merit of the combined algorithm. The inner diameter of the shaft and the bearing stiffness are chosen as the design variables. the results show that the combined algorithm can reduce both the weight of the shaft and the transmitted forces at the bearing with dynamic constraints.

  • PID controllers, which have been widely used in industry, have a simple structure and robustness to modeling error. But it is difficult to have uniformly good control performance in system parameters variation or different velocity command. In this paper, we propose a nonlinear adaptive PR controller based on an Immune feedback mechanism and a gradient descent teaming. This algorithm has a simple structure and robustness to system parameters variation. To verify performances of the proposed nonlinear adaptive PID controller, the speed control of nonlinear DC motor Is peformed. The simulation results show that the proposed control systems are effective in tracking a command velocity under system parameters variation

  • This research aims to unravel the significant features of the human immune system, which would be successfully employed for a novel network intrusion detection model. Several salient features of the human immune system, which detects intruding pathogens, are carefully studied and the possibility and the advantages of adopting these features for network intrusion detection are reviewed and assessed.

  • Although still poorly understood, accumulating evidence clearly supports that plants also have a good immune system which have been developed and acquired during the evolution. The lack of specific mobile immune cells like a B or T cell in plants additionally suggests that most plant cells have capacity for defending themselves against numerous pathogens. Rapidly growing advances in understanding plant defense responses implicate that plant and animal immune responses are evolutionarily convergent although their origins are thought to be different. On the basis of recent findings, here current understanding of plant defense responses will be discussed.

  • This study was undertaken to assess overall effects of bisphenol A, a monomer widely used in manufacturing polycarbonate plastics or epoxy resin, exposure on immune system of mice. For in vitro evaluation, serial concentration of SPA was added into culture of various immune cells from normal female ICR mice, and for in vivo or ex vivo assessment, mice were orally exposed to BPA dissolved in olive oil as doses of 500, 1000, 2000 mg/g b.w. for acute expose or 100, 500, 1000 mg/kg/day b.w. 5days a week for subacute exposure. • The term allergy was originally defined by Clemens Yon Pirquet as ‘an altered capacity of the body to react to foreign substance’, which was an extremely board definition that included all immunological reactions. Allergy is now defined in a much more restricted manner as ‘disease following an immune response to an otherwise innocuous antigen’. Allergy is a member of a class of immune responses that have been termed hypersensitivity reactions; these are harmful immune responses that produce tissue injury and may cause serious disease. • Over the past 40 years, flow cytometry has emerged as a leading, application-rich technology that supports high-resolution characterization of individual cells which function in complex cellular networks such as the immune system. This brief overview highlights advances in multiparameter flow cytometric technologies and reagent applications for characterization and functional analysis of cells modulating the immune network. These advances significantly support highthroughput and high-content analyses and enable an integrated understanding of the cellular and molecular interactions that underlie complex biological systems.

  • Effects of squalene on humoral immune system in mice were investigated. Squalene exhibited significant increases in the circulating leukocyte counts and relative spleen and thymus weights of the mice. However, the relative liver weight was slightly decreased. Hemagglutination titers (HA) were signficantly enhanced by squalene while Arthus reaction was not affected. Splenic plaque forming cells (PFC) were also greatly increased by squalene, especially at doses of 50 and 100 mg/kg of it.

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of Haeyeol-tang on infectious disease of respiratory system. Methods : Haeyeol-tang was used by cold storage after dilution with 1, 10 and $100{\mu}g/ml$ of PBS, from dried material as extracted material with extraction with 50% ethanol. Statistical significance was examined through measuring TNF-$\alpha$, RT-PCR, DPPH, nitric oxide(NO), and MTT of Raw264.7 cells activated with LPS. Results : For the toxicity experiment of Haeyeol-tang, almost no toxicity was shown on cells in the concentration ranges of 1, 10 and $100{\mu}g/ml$. For the effect of NO production, Haeyeol-tang showed significant (p<0.001) decrease of NO production, according to its concentration. For the effect on the eliminating activity of DPPH radical, Haeyeol-tang showed increasing tendency of eliminating activity of DPPH radical, according to its concentration. For the effect on revelation of NOS2 enzyme, Haeyeol-tang showed inhibiting tendency against the revelation of NOS2, according to its concentration. For the effect on the TNF-$\alpha$ production, Haeyeol-tang showed significant (p<0.001) decrease of TNF-$\alpha$ production. Conclusions : This result means that Haeyeol-tang is effective for anti-inflammation, as well as excellent effect for anti-oxidation and anti-aging.
