A Study on the Facial Image Synthesis Using Texture Mapping and Shading Effect (명암효과와 질감매핑을 이용한 얼굴영상 합성에 관한 연구)

  • Texture mapping is mostly used as an image synthesis method in the model-based coding system. An image synthesis using this method uses only the texture information of a front face-view. Therefore, when the model is rotated, texture mapping may produce an awkward image in point of shading. In this paper. a new texture mapping method considering shading effect is studied, and also the ear's wireframe and changes of hair are suplemented for the relation. The experimental results show that the proposed method yields the synthesized images with reasonably natural quality.

  • Spatially referenced mobile mapping (MM) images contain rich information of man-made objects , e.g. road centerlines, buildings, light poles, traffic signs ,billboards and line trees etc. Therefore, the applications in transportation, urban 3D reconstruction, utility management are implemented increasingly. It’s a fundamental issue lies in MM image process that how to orient this image in the object space including interior orientation of camera and the exterior orientation of image. In this paper, the algorithm of automatic acquirement of DC (Digital Camera) parameters based on MM images is illustrated. And then, the mapping between image space and object space for MM images is described.

  • A method to find the line of sight ray in space which corresponds to a point in an image plane is presented. The line of sight ray is defined by two points which are the intersections between the two calibration planes and the sight ray. The intersection point is found by the oblique coordinate mapping between the image plane and the calibration plane in the space. The proposed oblique coordinate mapping method has advantages over the transformation matrix method in the required memory space and computation time.

  • In this study the method of analysis for three-dimensional plane crack problem by fractional linear mapping is given. Using this method we can obtain the exact solutions of significantly different configurations of the crack. In the example image crack configurations by mapping of elliptic crack are illustrated. And the stress intensity factors along the image crack tips are calculated.

  • In this paper, we propose a filtering method that can improve the results of inverse tone-mapping using guided image filter. Inverse tone-mapping techniques have been proposed that convert LDR images to HDR. Recently, many algorithms have been studied to convert single LDR images into HDR images using CNN. Among them, there exists an algorithm for restoring pixel information using CNN which learned to restore saturated region. The algorithm does not suppress the noise in the non-saturation region and cannot restore the detail in the saturated region. The proposed algorithm suppresses the noise in the non-saturated region and restores the detail of the saturated region using a WGIF in the input image, and then applies it to the CNN to improve the quality of the final image. The proposed algorithm shows a higher quantitative image quality index than the existing algorithms when the HDR quantitative image quality index was measured.

An Efficient Algorithm for Mapping 360° Circular Images to Planar Images (360° 원형영상을 평면영상에 매핑하기 위한 효율적인 알고리즘)

  • In this paper, we propose an efficient algorithm for mapping a $360^{\circ}$ circular image to a planar image. The proposed algorithm consists of obtaining size of the planar image, calculating the distance between the camera and the planar image, calculating horizontal angle of camera and planar image, calculating vertical angle between camera and planar image, calculating the position of a pixel that matches pixels in a $360^{\circ}$ circular image to pixels in a planar image. Experiments were performed to evaluate the efficient algorithm for mapping the proposed $360^{\circ}$ circular image to the plane image. The reconstruction rate of the mapped plane image was confirmed 99% and the image quality of the mapped plane image was confirmed 72%. Since the results were higher than the standard values of commercial software, the effectiveness of the algorithm was confirmed.

Low-light Image Enhancement Based on Frame Difference and Tone Mapping (프레임 차와 톤 매핑을 이용한 저조도 영상 향상)

  • In this paper, we propose a new method to improve low light image. In order to improve the image quality of a night image with a moving object as much as the quality of a daytime image, the following tasks were performed. Firstly, we reduce the noisy of the input night image and improve the night image by the tone mapping method. Secondly, we segment the input night image into a foreground with motion and a background without motion. The motion is detected using both the difference between the current frame and the previous frame and the difference between the current frame and the night background image. The background region of the night image takes pixels from corresponding positions in the daytime image. The foreground regions of the night image take the pixels from the corresponding positions of the image which is improved by the tone mapping method. Experimental results show that the proposed method can improve the visual quality more clearly than the existing methods.

  • In landscape simulatin, it is necessary to express very realistic image generated by computer graphics. One solution is to use texture mapping; however, it needs a lot of work and time to obtain images for texture mapping since there are huge variety of images for buildings, roads, stations and so on, and the landscape image is diverse due to the weather and time. Especially, weathered images such as stain on walls, crack on roads and so forth, are needed to make the landscape image very realistic. These weathered images do not have to be strict so that it saves a lot of work and time for obtaining the images for texture mapping if we can generate a variety of weathered images automatically. Therefore, this paper describes how to generate a variety of weathered images automatically by changing the weathered shape of the original image.

  • In this paper, the predicted results were confirmed by label mapping for each class while implementing multi-class image classification to confirm accurate results for images in which the trained model failed classification. A CNN model was constructed and trained using Kaggle's Intel Image Classification dataset, and the mapped label values of multiple classes of images and the values classified by the model were compared by label mapping the images of the test dataset.

  • Tone mapping operator is designed to reproduce visibility of real-world scenes such as HDR images on limited dynamic range display devices. This paper presents and implements compare and to estimate some tone mapping algorithms commonly used. The evaluation is performed by applying tone mapping operators on 7 HDR images, and by presenting the results with subjective estimation. Reinhard tone mapping algorithm is the best in the visual experimental results. The goal of this work is to discuss what is visible of high dynamic range on a normal display device and to determine to which better algorithm is. This work motivates us to make more progress through the new proposal of tone mapping operator on future work.
