  • On the basis of comprehensive analysis and summarization of the image fusion algorithms provided by PCI Geomatica software, deficiencies in image fusion processing functions of this software are put forwarded in this paper. This limitation could be improved by further developing PCI Geomatica on the user’ side. Five effective algorithms could be added into PCI Geomatica. In this paper, the detailed description of how to customize and further develop PCI Geomatica by using Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0, PCI SDK Kit and GDB technique is also given. Through this way, the remote sensing imagery fusion functions of PCI Geomatica software can be extended.

  • This paper is concerned with the problem of how to detect paint type defects on painted slates using machine vision. We begin by outlining the motivations for this research and present a review of research in related areas before proceeding with a process description and a categorization of typical paint defects. We describe the test bed built to replicate factory conditions and the testing of image capture techniques. We discuss problems we confronted such as getting a sufficiently strong signal level from the slate, the effects of the slate surface profile on image capture and how we dealt with these problems. The third principal challenge was to generate a strong signal to noise ratio for each defect type so that a computationally inexpensive image processing method becomes viable. We demonstrate ...

  • The modeling analysis for objects placed in a given space can be described objectively when their visual image structure is grasped. It can't be answered without first analyzing the basic program, visual expression. And when the whole aspect of the visual image of the desired interior utensils is presented, the mindset of its designer can be deduced from that. Therefore, the study was based on the lemon juice squeezer, one of the interior kitchen utensils that Philippe Starck designed for Italy ALESSI company. For the study method, putting'The Elements of Dynamic Symmetry' by Prof. Jay Hambidge into practice, 'paradigm' analysis containing the whole'lemon juice squeezer'image was attempted. And to describe it, the visual mark description method by Prof. Bok-Young Kim was used. In conclusion, henceforth, the relationship between interior space and articles, the relationship between object and user, the modeling critique or analysis of the production itself shoud not be intended to be emotional. On the contrary, the study presented an art analyic methodology that can analyze and describe the visual image structure numerically, and confirm the relationship between form and content.

  • This article come to study the visualization representation technique of eye brain of person, basing on the ground of the dynamic graphics which is able to change the real time, manipulating the image as graphic factors of the multi-data. And the important thought in such realization is as follows ; corresponding the character points of human face and the parameter control value which obtains basing on the existing image recognition algorithm to the multi-dimensional data, synthesizing the image, it is to create the virtual image from the emotional expression according to the changing contraction expression. The proposed DyFIG system is realized that it as the completing module and we suggest the module of human face graphics which is able to express the emotional expression by manipulating and experimenting, resulting in realizing the emotional data expression description and technology.

  • Error concealment techniques are significant due to the growing interest in imagery transmission over error-prone channels. This paper presents a spatial error concealment technique for losslessly compressed images using least significant bit (LSB)-based data hiding to reconstruct a close approximation after the loss of image blocks during image transmission. Before transmission, block description information (BDI) is generated by applying quantization following discrete wavelet transform. This is then embedded into the LSB plane of the original image itself at the encoder. At the decoder, this BDI is used to conceal blocks that may have been dropped during the transmission. Although the original image is modified slightly by the message embedding process, no perceptible artifacts are introduced and the visual quality is sufficient for analysis and diagnosis. In comparisons with previous methods at various loss rates, the proposed technique is shown to be promising due to its good performance in the case of a loss of isolated and continuous blocks.

  • Since the early work of Tersoff and Hamann on the theory of the scanning tunneling microscope (STM), many theoretical approaches have been developed in order to gain further physical insight into the real space image that this technique provides. In this Paper, the STM image of Carbon nanotubes (CNT's) was calculated through the theoretical study. The optimized structure of CNT's was simulated using Brenner's hydrocarbon potential. The structure of simulation is (5. 5) armchair CNT and (10. 0) zigzag CNT. Also we have used that the extended Huckel tight binding (EHTB) theory already provides a fairly good qualitative description of the main processes that control the final contrast in the STM image. we found that the shape of the calculated images is hardly dependent on the exact electronic charge distribution at the surface. The STM images are not too sensitive to the precise electronic structure but, rather, they reflect its qualitative features. As a result of the simulation, The STM images of CNT's and the electronic density distribution were investigated. It found that the EHTB theory is appropriate for STM image calculation and that the STM images are in agreement with the result of Experiment.

  • This study proposed two multisensor fusion methods for segment-based image classification utilizing a region-growing segmentation. The proposed algorithms employ a Gaussian-PDF measure and an evidential measure respectively. In remote sensing application, segment-based approaches are used to extract more explicit information on spatial structure compared to pixel-based methods. Data from a single sensor may be insufficient to provide accurate description of a ground scene in image classification. Due to the redundant and complementary nature of multisensor data, a combination of information from multiple sensors can make reduce classification error rate. The Gaussian-PDF method defines a regional measure as the PDF average of pixels belonging to the region, and assigns a region into a class associated with the maximum of regional measure. The evidential fusion method uses two measures of plausibility and belief, which are derived from a mass function of the Beta distribution for the basic probability assignment of every hypothesis about region classes. The proposed methods were applied to the SPOT XS and ENVISAT data, which were acquired over Iksan area of of Korean peninsula. The experiment results showed that the segment-based method of evidential measure is greatly effective on improving the classification via multisensor fusion.

  • The continuous increase of the spatial resolution of remote sensing images brings great challenge to image analysis and processing. Traditional prior knowledge-based region detection and target recognition algorithms for processing high resolution remote sensing images generally employ a global searching solution, which results in prohibitive computational complexity. In this paper, a more efficient region of interest (ROI) detection algorithm based on visual attention and threshold segmentation (VA-TS) is proposed, wherein a visual attention mechanism is used to eliminate image segmentation and feature detection to the entire image. The input image is subsampled to decrease the amount of data and the discrete moment transform (DMT) feature is extracted to provide a finer description of the edges. The feature maps are combined with weights according to the amount of the "strong points" and the "salient points". A threshold segmentation strategy is employed to obtain more accurate region of interest shape information with the very low computational complexity. Experimental statistics have shown that the proposed algorithm is computational efficient and provide more visually accurate detection results. The calculation time is only about 0.7% of the traditional Itti's model.
