A study on the 3D image processing for electronic catalogs (전자 카탈로그 시스템을 위한 3D image 처리 연구)

  • Until recently, there have been fundamental changes in many fields of industries. Especially, the mass-production is being changed into mass-customization. In order to construct a 3D e-catalog system far the utilization of mass-customization, there are several matters to consider. Setting realistic 3D image should be effective fur providing the customers with the product information with reality and raising their interest. This study explains the whole process to convert CAD data formed from the production activities into VRML data used in virtual reality environment. Examples are given and discussed to validate the proposed activity.

A Study on the Color Change in a Union Fabric simulated using a 3-dimensional CAD Software and Image Analysis

  • Colors of textile products or fashionable clothing play one of the most important roles. From the point of visual cues, the realism of an image is the result of a good interaction of local light scattering or transmittance model applied. A 3-dimensional CAD software was used to construct a solid plain fabric model. In order to simulate a union fabric with different warp and filling colors, rendering was performed on the fabric model. It was demonstrated that the iridescent effect, pearl effect, or superficial color change effect of the union fabric during wearer's movement could be explained using the fabric models at inclined fabric positions during viewer's observation.

  • This paper proposes a new algorithm that detects and separates the occluding and occluded objects in a 2D image. An input image is represented by the attributed graph where a node corresponds to a surface and an arc connecting two nodes describes the adjacency of the nodes in the image. Each end of arc is weighted by relation value which tells the number of edges connected to the surface represented by the node in the opposite side of the arc. In attributed graph homogeneous nodes pertained to the same object always construct one of three special patterns which can be simply classified by comparison of relation values of the arcs.   • The purpose of this paper is to construct a system that matches the patient's image disease information with the medical image viewer in providing the medical image information to the medical staff. Currently, medical image information systems that are commercialized mostly provide only one image viewer with various image information of diseases or use incompatible exclusive viewers. For this reason, we designed and implemented a medical image information viewer matching system that integrates and provides specialized viewers that can be selected by diseases' image information. That is, it is a system to match and view medical image viewers based on disease information extracted from tag information stored as the metadata in DICOM file, which is medical image information standard, for disease-specific viewer matching. We analyzed the execution performances through our retrieval service of medical image information from our implementation system, and showed compatibility and control with various viewers.

A Study on Development of Brand Positioning Map for Ladies' Ready-to-Wear Utilizing Multidimensional Scaling Method (다차원척도법을 이용한 여성기성복 상표 포지셔닝 연구)

  • The purpose of the study was to develope brand positioning map for ladies' ready-to-wear, to find out evaluative criteria in perception and preference to brands, and to persent the relationship between consumer's characteristics and brand preference. Subjects were selected for the housewives of middle and high socioeconomic classes living in Seoul area. A questionnaire including items of life style, self image, similarity between brands, preference degree to brands, and demographic variables was developed for the empirical study. The questionnaire was administrated to 137 housewives during fall in 1989. Data were analyzed by cluster analysis and multidimensional scaling method. The study had two research problems. The first research problem was to construct a brand perceptual map for ladies' ready-to-wear brands, selected for the study The perceptual map was constructed on the basis of brand similarity scores by multidimensional scaling method. As a result, brands were grouped into 4 clusters, and evaluative criteria for perceptual map were found to be fashionability (classic- fashionable) and familiarity (familiar-unfamiliar). The second problem was to construct a brand preference map for ladies' ready-to-wear brands, selected for the study. The preference map was constructed on the basis of brand preference scores by multidimensional scaling method. As a result, the brands were grouped into 4 clusters and evaluative critiera for preference map were found to be fashionability (unfashionable-fashionable) and image to age (mature-young directed). Also was shown the relationship among self image, age, socioeconomic class, and brand preference. The multidimensional scaling method was found to be useful as well as valid instrument for brand positioning research and the result can be utilized for establishing strategies for ladies' ready-to-wear brands.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop FVU, which enables teachers effectively to construct self-page on the screen, to reduce the size of file for teaching, and to correct many different kinds of event which was already made in the previous. The instrument used in the development of this Editor is UML(Unified Modeling Language), which is object-oriented methodology. The Authoring tool developed in this study is named FVU. The first page which is needed in class can be constructed by using VUEditor in FVU. Using VUEditor can get Instructional Syllabus exported into VUAuthor through Vector-transformation. Through this procedure, the size of image file comes to be reduced into forming low band width, which results in solving the problem of network traffic. Also, Instructor can create image, shape and text, and delete and correct errors or mistakes which make in the course of constructing materials for teaching. In conclusion, this VUEditor enables program designer to construct the first page, even without using such applied program as Image Tool and Power Point. This VUEditor makes instructor to make some contents for teaching easily.

The Desired Self-Images and the Fashion Product Unities of Male College Students according to Situation (남자대학생의 의복 착용상황별 추구이미지와 패션상품통일체)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the desired seIf-images of male college students according to situations, and to construct fashion product unities bought by male college students for different situations. Empirical data were collected by self-administered questionnaires distributed to male students at 4 universities and 2 colleges in Daegu and Gyeongbuk area during June 2005, and 346 were analyzed, eliminating incomplete ones. Subjects were required to respond to 32 desired image words in 4 different situations respectively: school, meeting girlfriends, ceremonies, and exercises. As a result of factor analysis on desired self-image words, 5 factors were determined: refined image, sporty image, classic image, natural image and simple image. Based on the desired self-image factors, male college students were classified into 3 groups: selective image management group, passive image management group, and active Image management group. Fashion product unity of male college students for the school setting was consisted of round shirts, jeans, running shoes, bags and watches. Aloha shirts/knitted shirts/V-neck shirts, cotton pants/jeans/semi -formal pants, formal shoes/running shoes and watches were the fashion product unity for the setting of meeting girlfriends. For the setting of ceremonies, the fashion product unity included Y-shirts, formal dress, formal shoes, neckties and watches. And for the setting of exercises, the fashion product unity included cotton shirts, training suits, running shoes/jogging shoes/basketball shoes, armguard and caps.

Examining City Image from the Application of Country Image: The Case of Daegu City (국가이미지를 응용한 도시이미지 연구: 대구시를 중심으로)

  • Applying the construct of country image this study examined city image for Daegu in Korea. Study 1 measured the city image for Daegu and Seoul, identified the city image dimensions, and compared the images of the two cities. Study 2 confirmed the city image dimensions and examined the Daegu image by residency and demographic characteristics of respondents in Daegu and Seoul regions. The study extracted 4 dimensions of city image including economy, people, conservatism, and development capability. High conservatism and low economic prosper represented the image of Daegu while the opposite did of Seoul. Regardless of residency, single and Young respondents with high income and education had negative images for Daegu, and residents in Daegu rather than in Seoul had more negative images.

Model Construction of Sexual Satisfaction in Patients with a Colostomy (결장루 보유자의 성만족 구조모형)

  • Purpose: This study was designed to construct and test the structural equation model on sexual satisfaction in patients with a colostomy. Methods: The model construction was based upon Roy's adaptation model. Stoma-related discomfort (SRD), age, frequency of sexual intercourse, treatment modality, and gender affect sexual satisfaction and are mediated by physical, psychosocial, and interdependence modes. Each mode was conceptualized as sexual function, body image/ depression, and marital intimacy. The patients were 112 colostomates with colorectal cancer who were asked to complete a mail-back survey on their demographic data, SRD, body image, depression, marital intimacy, sexual function, and sexual satisfaction. Data were analyzed using SPSS WIN 15.0 and AMOS WIN 7.0. Results: Significant variables for sexual satisfaction in the final model were body image affected by SRD, depression affected by body image and SRD, marital intimacy affected by depression, and sexual function affected by marital intimacy. Conclusion: The results of this study suggest that specific guidelines for SRD are necessary to improve sexual satisfaction among colostomates. Nurses should be vigilant in monitoring depression and body image disturbance, and providing appropriate interventions to increase marital intimacy. Treatment modality, gender, and age should be considered in developing education programs pertaining to sexuality.

  • Nowadays, the design and development of footwear are focused on not only to protect feet against some injuries also to satisfy its personality and high-quality based on customer' subjective sensibilities. Many image source based human sensibility is needed to establish concept of footwear by new idea in design process. For satisfying costumer's and designer's disires, this study is concerned to evaluate and analyze images using human sensibility and construct image source D/B according to the result. The image evaluation performed by internet is used 1,000 Images classified into four groups(structure or architecture, transportation device, natural articles and home appliance), and 300 subjects are participated. Finally, the web D/B is constructed by the result of image evaluation that is performed statistical analysis(basic statistic, factoranalysis and multi-scaled analysis).
