Top-down Behavior Planning for Real-life Simulation

  • This paper describes a top-down behavior planning framework in a simulation game from personality to real life action selection. The combined behavior creating system is formed by five levels of specification, which are personality definition, motivation extraction, emotion generation, decision making and action execution. Along with the data flowing process in our designed framework, NPC selects actions autonomously to adapt to the dynamic environment information resulting from active agents and human players. Furthermore, we illuminate applying Gaussian probabilistic distribution to realize character's behavior changeability like human performance. To elucidate the mechanism of the framework, we situated it in a restaurant simulation game.

Three Dimensional Dynamic Added Variable Plots

  • Graphical methods for the specification of the curvature as a function of two predictors are animated to see the effect of an added variable to the model. Through a 3D animated plot it might be difficult to find a sequence of interpretable plots. But examples demonstrate that useful information can be obtained by using rotation technique in 3D plot. Besides 3D plots, an example of 2D animated plot applied to the case of high correlation between predictors and an added predictor is also given. It implies that speed of the convergence to a certain image in a dynamic plot may be understood as an influence of collinearity.

  • 본 연구는 이산 사건 시스템 형식론(DEVS: Discrete Event System Specification)을 이용한 가상전장 모델링 및 시뮬레이션 방법론을 제안한다. 기존 군체계에 관련된 모델링 기술은 물리적 모델링, 비쥬얼 모델링, 또는 개념적 모델링 등 개별 기능중심의 단편적 플랫폼 모델링에 그치고 있으며, 무기체계 분석 시뮬레이션도 개별 단위체 중심으로 평가되어져서, 다양하고 종합적인 그리고 상호운영성과 재사용성 등을 고려한 통합 모델링 및 시뮬레이션 환경을 제공하지 못하는 단점을 갖는다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 개별 전투병력에서부터 첨단 무기체계에 이르는 다양한 전장 요소들을 계층 구조적으로 통합함으로써 장에서 발생될 수 있는 개별 전투병력의 미시적 행동 특성뿐 아니라 분대/중대/대대/사단급 단위의 거시적 전략/전술에 대한 묘사까지도 가능한 가상전장 모델링 및 시뮬레이션 환경을 제안한다. 제안된 방법론은 분대 단위의 가상 전장 환경에 대한 사례연구를 통해 검증하였으며, 향후 연구로는 대단위 가상전장에 대한 묘사를 위한 HLA 분산 시뮬레이션 기술의 적용에 대한 연구가 필요할 것이다.

Design of Wedge Projection System with Thin Slab Structure

  • Enhanced analysis is performed to design a wedge projection system with a slab structure that increases the projected image size. The specification values of the system such as the length of the slab structure and the imaging region are calculated and investigated using an optical simulation tool. We also propose a split imaging region method to represent a large tiled scene using the thin wedge waveguide structure. Experiments are performed to verify the feasibility of the proposed method.

  • We have proposed an image restoration method for a bi-level waveforms whose number of edges is known to us. Based on the information, we parametrize a bi-level waveform using the locations of edges and restore the waveform by estimating the parameter. We estimated the locations by maximizing the correlation coefficients between the hi-level waveform and the measured waveform. In experiments using two dimensional barcode images of the PDF417 specification, the proposed method showed better performance than conventional methods in the sense that the proposed method was able to decode barcode images that were not decoded by the conventional methods.

  • According to CORBA specification, there are some mechanisms for object reference management such as Naming Service and Trading service, but these mechanism cant's supply all functionalities needed fomanagement in MICS. So, We have designed and implemented additional special-purpose IPO manager. It provides load balancing service based on real-time information for IPO and fault-tolerable services with the management of redundant IPOs and also provides transparent configuration of client environment with the lists of registered IPOs.

  • Offset lithography is the most widely used printing process in domestic printing industry, but there are no industry-wide specifications for press control to assure consistent quality across printing plants. As printing becomes more of a commodity and less of an art, it is necessary to develop a print quality specification standard suitable for Korea offset printing field. This study aims to contribute to improving the quality of domestic offset color prints by comparative study on color reproduction properties of 2 kinds of domestic process color ink composed of C(cyan), M(magenta), Y(yellow) and K(black) and of 3 kinds of domestic coated paper, using colorimetric color measurement method.

An Efficient Architecture of Transform & Quantization Module in MPEG-4 Video Codec

  • In this paper, a VLSI architecture for transform and quantization module, which consists of 2D-DCT, quantization, AC/DC prediction block, scan conversion, inverse quantization and 2D-IDCT, is presented. The architecture of the module is designed to handle a macroblock data within 1064 cycles and suitable for MPEG-4 video codec handling CIF image formats. Only single 1-D DCT/IDCT cores are used for the design instead of 2-D DCT/IDCT, respectively. 1-bit serial distributed arithmetic architecture is adopted for 1-D DCT/IDCT to reduce the hardware area in this architecture. As the result, the maximum utilization of hardware can be achieved, and power consumption can be minimized. The proposed design is operated on 27MHz clock. The experimental results show that the accuracy of DCT and IDCT meet the IEEE specification.

An Adaptive Frequency Hopping Method in the Bluetooth Baseband

  • In the Bluetooth specification version 1.0, one specific frequency in one piconet was created depending upon the device clock and the Bluetooth native address at one specific time slot in the frequency hopping method. The basic hopping pattern was arranging the 79 ISM frequency band in pseudo-random fashion. Possible problem is the chance of collision of ownership of one specific frequency by more than 2 wireless devices when they are within the communication-active range. In this paper, we propose the adaptive frequency hopping method in order to resolve the possible problem so that more than 2 wireless devices communicates with their own client devices without being interfered. The proposed method was implemented with HDL later to be synthesized with an automatic EDA synthesizer and verified as well. The implemented adaptive frequency hopping circuit operated normally at 24MHz which will be the target clock frequency of the target Bluetooth device.
