Recognizing that a person doesn't put on a safety cap using DSP. (DSP(Digital signal proccesor)를 이용한 산업현장에서의 안전모 미착용 인식 기술)

  • This paper proposes a method of recognizing that a person doesn't put on a safety cap using image processing method in DSP(Digital Signal Processor). It processes inputted images by image input devices that equipped in a industrial settings. If the method recognizes a person that doesn't put on a safety cap, a system transfers relevant recognition result to a supervisor and takes proper measures. If an accident happens and someone doesn't put on a safety cap, additional casualities could be. Proposed method can nip additional casualties in the bud. To recognize that a person don't put on a safety cap, images are processed by object abstraction, removal of noise, decision of a thing or a person, abstraction of a head part in a image, recognizing whether a man puts on a safety cap using HSV color space or not, and so on. Image input and image process are processed by DSP. And C language-based codes are optimized by an eignefunction(Intrinsics) for speed improvement of algorithms.

Speech Activity Detection using Lip Movement Image Signals (입술 움직임 영상 선호를 이용한 음성 구간 검출)

  • In this paper, A method to prevent the external acoustic noise from being misrecognized as the speech recognition object is presented in the speech activity detection process for the speech recognition. Also this paper confirmed besides the acoustic energy to the lip movement image signals. First of all, the successive images are obtained through the image camera for personal computer and the lip movement whether or not is discriminated. The next, the lip movement image signal data is stored in the shared memory and shares with the speech recognition process. In the mean time, the acoustic energy whether or not by the utterance of a speaker is verified by confirming data stored in the shared memory in the speech activity detection process which is the preprocess phase of the speech recognition. Finally, as a experimental result of linking the speech recognition processor and the image processor, it is confirmed to be normal progression to the output of the speech recognition result if face to the image camera and speak. On the other hand, it is confirmed not to the output the result of the speech recognition if does not face to the image camera and speak. Also, the initial feature values under off-line are replaced by them. Similarly, the initial template image captured while off-line is replaced with a template image captured under on-line, so the discrimination of the lip movement image tracking is raised. An image processing test bed was implemented to confirm the lip movement image tracking process visually and to analyze the related parameters on a real-time basis. As a result of linking the speech and image processing system, the interworking rate shows 99.3% in the various illumination environments.

  • This paper presents a programmable System-On-a-chip for various embedded applications that need Neural Network computations. The system is fully implemented into Field-Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) based prototyping platform. The SoC consists of an embedded processor core and a reconfigurable hardware accelerator for neural computations. The performance of the SoC is evaluated using real image processing applications, such as optical character recognition (OCR) system.

  • IN ADAPTIVE LINEAR PREDICTION, AN ADAPTIVE CAPABILITY IS BUILT INTO THE PROCESSOR SUCH THAT AS THE IMAGE STATISTICS CHANGE, THE PREDICTION FILTER COEFFICIENTS THEMSELVES CHANGE, PRODUCING A NEW FILTER MORE CLOSELY OPTIMIZED TO THE NEW SET OF IMAGES STATISTICS. THE LMS ALGORITHM MAY BE USED TO ADAPT THE COEFFICIENT OF AN ADAPTIVE PREDICTION FILTER FOR IMAGE SOURCE ENCODING. IN THIS PAPER, TWO CODING SYSTEMS USING DPCM AND LMS ALGORITHMS RESPECTIVELY FOR OBTAINING THE FIRST TRANSFORMED COEFFICIENT IN HYBRID CODING ARE COMPARED.

  • Measurement and control system of weld pool is comprised of optical devices, image processor, personal computer and welding machine. Combinations of ND and Infrared filters were used to block the intense arc light and to get the clearer image of weld pool. Smoothing operation and conversion to binary data were performed to eliminate the noises and to decrease the processing time. A simple algorithm for feedback control was developed and weld pool size is controlled by welding current which is adjusted automatically with personal computer.

  • An automated surface-strain measuring system is developed in the present study, which consists of the hardware to capture and to display digital images and the software to calculate the 3-D informations of grid points. The software is implemented using the image processing technique, and includes a program for the camera calibration and the post-processor to display the strain distribution. An LDH(limitting dome height) test specimen is measured its surface-strain as an application of the present system.

  • Cutting tool life monitoring is a critical element needed for designing unmanned machining systems. This paper describes a tool wear measurement system using computer vision which repeatedly measures flank and crater wear of a single point cutting tool. This direct tool wear measurement method is based on an interactive procedure utilizing a image processor and multi-vision sensors. A measurement software calcultes 7 parameters to characterize flank and crater wear. Performance test revealed that the computer vision technique provides precise, absolute tool-wear quantification and reduces human maesurement errors.

The parallel processing system proposed consisted of 16 processing elements, and multi-access memory system, and interface modules.   • In this paper, we has been studied self controlled mobile robot system with CCD camera. This system consists of TMS320F240 digital signal processor, step motor, RF module and CCD camera. we used wireless RF module for movable command transmitging between robot and host PC. This robot go straight until 95 percent filled screen from input image. And the robot recognizes obstacle about 95 percent filled something, so it could avoid the obstacle and conclude new path plan.
