  • Experiments were carried out for a cubic cavity flow. Contrinuous shear stress is supplied by driven flow for high Reynolds number and three kinds of aspect ratios. Velocity vectors are obtained by PIV and they are used as velocity components for Poisson equation for pressure, Related boundary conditions and no-slip condition at solid wall and the linear velocity extrapolation on the upper side of cavity are well examined for the present study. For calculation of pressure resolution of grid is basically $40{\times}40$ and 2-dimensional uniform mesh using MSC staggered grid is adopted. The flow field within the cavity maintains a forced-vortex formation and almost of the shear stress from the driving inflow is transformed into rotating flow energy and the size of the distorted forced-vortex increases with increment of Reynolds number

  • Availability of defect test algorithm that recognizes exact and standardized defect information in order to fundamentally resolve generated defects in industrial sites by giving artificial intelligence to SAT(Scanning Acoustic Tomograph), which previously depended on operator's decision, to find various defect information in a semiconductor package, to decide defect pattern, to reduce personal errors and then to standardize the test process was verified. In order to apply the algorithm to the lately emerging Neural Network theory, various weights were used to derive results for performance advancement plans of the defect test algorithm that promises excellent field applicability.

  • As rapid development of new hardware control interface technology, new concepts have been being proposed and emerged. In this paper, a new approach based on leap motion system is proposed. While we employ a position information from sensor, the hand gesture recognition is suggested with the pre-defined patterns. To do this, we design a recognition algorithm with hand gesture and finger patterns. We apply the proposed scheme to 3-dimensional avatar controling and editing software tool for making animation in the cyber space as a representative application. This proposed algorithm can be used to control computer systems in medical treatment, game, education and other various areas.

  • In this paper we focus on EPI (Epipolar-Plane Image), the horizontal cross section of Ray-Space, and we propose a novel method that chooses objects we want and edits scenes by using multi-view images. On the EPI acquired by camera arrays uniformly distributed along a line, all the objects are represented as straight lines, and the slope of straight lines are decided by the distance between objects and camera plane. Detecting a straight line of a specific slope and removing it mean that an object in a specific depth has been detected and removed. So we propose a scheme to make a layer of a specific slope compete with other layers instead of extracting layers sequentially from front to back. This enables an effective removal of obstacles, object manipulation and a clearer 3D scene with what we want to see will be made.

  • Experiments have been conducted to determine heat transfer characteristics for a two-dimen-sional turbulent wall attaching offset jet at different oblique angles to a flat surface. The local Nusselt number distributions were measured using liquid crystal as a temperature sensor. Wall static pressure coefficient profiles were measured at the Reynolds number Re 53200(based on the nozzle width, D) the offset ratio H/D from 2.5 to 10 and the oblique angle a from $0^{\circ}$, to $40^{\circ}$ It is observed that the maximum Nusselt number point occurs slightly upstream of time-averaged reattachment point for all oblique angles. The correlations between the maximum Nusselt number and Reynolds number offset ration and oblique angle are presented.

  • This study discusses a non-contact optical technique (electronic speckle pattern interferometry) that is well suited for thermal deformation measurement without any surface preparation and compensating process. Fiber reinforced plastics ($[0]_{16},\;[0/90]_{8S}$) were analyzed by ESPI to determine their thermal expansion coefficients. The thermal expansion coefficient of the transverse direction of a uniaxial composite is evaluated as $48.78{\times}10^{-6}(1/^{\circ}C)$. Also, the thermal expansion coefficient of the cross-ply laminate $[0/90]_{8S}$ is numerically estimated as $3.23{\times}10^{-6}(1/^{\circ}C)$ that is compared with that measured by ESPI.

  • This paper describes algorithms for the method to generate motions automatically. There are many efforts to generate motions with assistance from computers. But almost of these are methods for generating motions from scratch using computers - generally called "Computer Generated Animation". We propose a method called "Computer Aided Animation" which is a tool to help in animator generating motions. Many motions in cartoonized animation are included with impossible motions for human. Animation makes these motions based on knowledge of experimental techniques. The method in this paper works like a filter in the field of image processing. We call this method "Motion Filter". Motion Filter accepts captured motions from motion capture system and translate these motions to emphasized-cartoonized-motions.

  • This paper presents an automated visual inspection/measuring system for the door inner panel manufacturing process. The main objective of this research is to develop inspection applications with a machine vision system related to the determination or quantification of parameters such as dimension, shape, quality of surfaces, number of holes in a panel, and presence or absence of specific features. For quality measurements, we showed a subpixel image processing technology that will improve the consistency of results and level of precision. Also presented is a data analysis method th detect process shifts so that corrective action can be undertaken before more defective units are manufactured.

  • In recent years, there has been increasing use of automatic surveillance and monitoring systems based on vision sensors. Humans are often the most important target in the systems, but processing human images is difficult due to the small sizes and flexible motions. Particularly, occlusion among pedestrians in camera images brings practical problems. In this paper, we propose a novel method to separate image regions of occluded pedestrians. A camera equipped with a wide angle lens is attached to the ceiling of a building corridor for sensing pedestrians with a wide field of view. The output images of the camera are processed for the human detection, tracking, identification, distortion correction, and occlusion handling. We resolve the occlusion problem adaptively depending on the angles and positions of their heads. Experimental results showed that the proposed method is more efficient and accurate compared with existing methods.

  • This paper investigates the effect of strain rate on the anisotropic deformation behavior of advanced high strength steel sheets. Uniaxial tensile tests were carried out on TRIP590 and DP780 steel sheets at strain rates ranging from 0.001/sec to 100/sec to determine yield stresses and r-values at various loading angles from the reference rolling direction. R-values were determined by the digital image correlation technique. Hill48 and Yld2000-2d yield functions were tested for their capability to describe the plastic deformation anisotropy of the materials. Initial yield loci were constructed using the Yld2000-2d yield function, which adequately described the anisotropic behavior of the materials. The shape of the initial yield loci was found to change with different strain rate, and the anisotropic behavior decreased with increasing strain rate.
