Automatic Classification System of Tablets with Various Colors and Shapes (다양한 색상 및 형태를 갖는 알약의 자동 분류 시스템)

  • The classification of the tablets recovered according to prescription changes is usually carried out manually by a number of pharmacists at the hospitals. Relatively high-wage pharmacists carry out the reclassification of the tablets, which results in a large loss of time and labor, and if the tablets are incorrectly classified, this can lead to medical accidents. In order to overcome these problems, a new automatic tablet classifying machine has been introduced. In the conventional automatic tablet classifying machine, tablets having various shapes, sizes, and colors are transferred to a classifying machine through the line feeder. Problems such as breakaway of the tablets from the line feeder, pilling of the tablets in the line feeder, and appearance contamination of the tablets occur. In this paper, we propose a system that automatically classifies the shape, size, and color of tablets through individual supply method by vacuum adsorption and image processing.

A Study on the Blink Pattern Extraction of a Driver in Drowsy State (졸음감지를 위한 깜박임 패턴 검출에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, we propose a non-invasive method to detect the drowsiness of a driver. The computer vision technology was used to extract an eye, track eyelids and measure the parameters related to the blink. We examined the blink patterns of a driver in drowsy state. For the evaluation of our image processing algorithm, the blink patterns were compared with the measured EOG signals. The result showed that our algorithm might be available in detection of drowsiness.

  • 깊이감, 시점 등의 3차원 영상정보 제공 방법에는 양안 시차에 의한 스테레오 방식, 다시점 기반의 스테레오 방식, 라이트필드 기반의 스테레오 방식, 체적 내에 실제 발광점들을 물리적으로 형성하는 체적형 방식, 빛의 간섭과 회절현상을 이용하여 실제 물체의 파면을 재현하는 홀로그래피 방식 등이 존재한다. 본고에서는, 3차원 영상기술로써 최근 이슈화되고 있는 플렌옵틱 영상기술의 개념을 다시점 영상생성 및 재초점 기능의 관점에서 소개하고, 동시에 관련 국내외 기술개발 동향을 파악하고자 한다. 또한, 플렌옵틱 영상기술의 고도화를 위한 최신 연구개발 이슈 및 응용 가능한 서비스 시나리오에 대해 탐구해 봄으로써, 향후 플렌옵틱 영상처리 기술의 발전 및 활용도를 전망해 보고자 한다.

  • In these days, the wearable devices have been developed for measuring biological data effectively. However, wearable devices have tissue allege and noise problem. Also, it is impossible for a remote center to identify the person whose data are measured by wearable devices, which could trigger a communication problem over treatment. To solve these problems, biometric measurement based on a non-contact method, such as face image sequencing is necessary. This makes it possible to measure biometric data without any operation and side effects. This system can monitor the biological signals of people in real time without allege and noise and simultaneously identify them. In this paper, we propose an authentication process while measuring biometric data, through a non-contact method.

  • This paper describes an implementation of face detection technology for a real-time application on the Android platform. Java class of Face-Detection for detection of human face is provided by the Android API. However, this function is not suitable to apply for the real-time applications due to inadequate detection speed and accuracy. In this paper, the AdaBoost based classification method which utilizes Local Binary Pattern (LBP) histogram is employed for face detection. The face detection module has been developed by C/C++ language for high-speed image processing, and this module is included to the Android platform using the Java Native Interface (JNI). The experiments were carried out in the Java-based environment and JNI-based environment. The experimental results have shown that the performance of JNI-based is faster than Java-based method and our system is well enough to apply for real-time applications.

  • 남극의 설퇴현상을 모의실험하기 위하여 폐쇠식 대기경계층난류풍동을 호주 시드니대학토목공학과에 제작 설치하였다. 철강과 100mm높이의 구형판자 및 촘촘한 양탄자등의 실험요소를 사용하여 경계층전단난류를 유도발생켰다. 유도발생된 난류는 호주령 남극령토의 해안지역에 부는 난류와 비슷한 유형을 뛰었다. 자연눈에 대처할 물질을 찾기 위하여 몇몇종류의 가루를 사용하였으나 중탄산나트륨이 가장 적합한 것임이 증명되었다. 남극건물모델주위에 실험을 통해 쌓인 눈의 형태로부터 등고선무늬를 형상화 시켰으며 image processing unit을 이용하여 등고선무늬를 포착한 후 등고선 분석 software를 이용, 눈의 형태와 양을 분석하였다.

  • We propose on a novel vertical configuration (VC) for a helix-deformed ferroelectric liquid crystal (HDFLC) display that has fast response, high contrast, analog gray scale capability, and wide-viewing characteristics. In contrast to a conventional HDFLC in a planar geometry, smectic layers arrange themselves parallel to the substrates, and thus, extremely uniform alignment of molecules in large area is naturally achieved in our new configuration without additional processes such as the rubbing and/or electric field treatment. Moreover, with a proper design of electrode patterns on the same substrate, multidomain switching is easily realized without employing any complex process of alignment. Our new VC-HDFLC is expected to provide a viable technology to produce a next-generation large area LCD suitable for processing the dynamic image at a video-rate.

  • In this paper, an improved AE (auto exposure) system for digital still camera is proposed. The AE system is the most important part in camera to get high quality picture image. However, there is no remarkable progress in this field until this time in spite of its importance. In recent, some researchers try to develop an AE system with signal processing technique. But it has some problems in exposure time and sometimes generates oscillation in brightness. Therefore, we develop a new system using a control technology to remove such phenomena. This new system shows about 30% improved performance than conventional one.

  • Digital visual information(image and video) plays an important role in our society, and everyday, more and more visual information is available from many sources around the world. And there is an increasing number of cases where the these visual informations are created, stored, retrieved, and re-used by computational systems. But information modification, distortion and compilation occurred through trans-coding or legal/illegal information processing often make these operations difficult. Subordinately, advanced technology or commercialized software for retrieving and identifying the desired information among these massive and diverse ones is strongly required. In the paper, some recent activities and technical content of MPEG-7 Visual Group are described, especially with regarding to Visual Identifier.

  • A mobile robot system utilizing NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) method is designed and fabricated f3r automatic integrity evaluation of large sized industrial reservoirs and pipelines. The developed mobile robot can crawl over the outer surface of the industrial facilities even though the shape of the structures is various and unsymmetric. The robot detects defects such as pinholes, cracks and thickness reduction at the wall of the facilities using EMAT (Electro-Magnetic Acoustic Transducer). Image processing technology for weld line detection at the surface of the target and host programs including defect detecting algorithms are also developed. Automation of defect detection for these kinds of large facilities using mobile robots is helpful to prevent significant troubles of the structures without danger of human beings under harmful environment.
