간섭계 방식을 이용한 수중지형탐사 방안 연구 (Exploration for Underwater Topography using Interferomtric Metho)

  • 해양이나 내수면 등 수상에서의 공사를 위해서는 수중 지형정보의 확보가 필수적이다. 수중 지형정보는 수심과 바닥면에 대한 지형정보로 구성할 수 있으며, 수심 측량과 바닥면에 대한 음향영상탐사 등을 별도의 탐사 방법으로 실시하여 정보를 취득하고 있다. 공학적 목적으로 양질의 정보를 제공하기 위해서는 두 정보에 대한 동시 획득과 통합적인 해석이 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 간섭계 방식을 이용한 음향영상탐사를 실시하여 수심과 수중 바닥 지형정보를 동시에 획득하였으며, 취득한 수심 정보에 대한 정확도 평가를 통해 간섭계방식의 수중 지형 탐사 방법에 대한 가능성을 검토하였다.

APPLICATION AND CROSS-VALIDATION OF SPATIAL LOGISTIC MULTIPLE REGRESSION FOR LANDSLIDE SUSCEPTIBILITY ANALYSIS

  • The aim of this study is to apply and crossvalidate a spatial logistic multiple-regression model at Boun, Korea, using a Geographic Information System (GIS). Landslide locations in the Boun area were identified by interpretation of aerial photographs and field surveys. Maps of the topography, soil type, forest cover, geology, and land-use were constructed from a spatial database. The factors that influence landslide occurrence, such as slope, aspect, and curvature of topography, were calculated from the topographic database. Texture, material, drainage, and effective soil thickness were extracted from the soil database, and type, diameter, and density of forest were extracted from the forest database. Lithology was extracted from the geological database and land-use was classified from the Landsat TM image satellite image. Landslide susceptibility was analyzed using landslide-occurrence factors by logistic multiple-regression methods. For validation and cross-validation, the result of the analysis was applied both to the study area, Boun, and another area, Youngin, Korea. The validation and cross-validation results showed satisfactory agreement between the susceptibility map and the existing data with respect to landslide locations. The GIS was used to analyze the vast amount of data efficiently, and statistical programs were used to maintain specificity and accuracy.

For the validation and cross-validation, the result of the analysis was applied to each study areas. The validation and cross-validate results showed satisfactory agreement between the susceptibility map and the existing data on landslide locations.

Land use was classified from the Landsat TM image satellite image. As each factor's ratings, the logistic regression coefficient were overlaid for landslide susceptibility mapping. Then the landslide susceptibility map was verified and compared using the existing landslide location. The results can be used to reduce hazards associated with landslides management and to plan land use and construction.

패션 일러스트레이션의 환유적 표현방법 (The Expression of Metonymy in Fashion Illustration)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze a theoretical frame of expressional area, the characteristics and the effects which is applied to fashion illustration by metonymic theory. The theoretical frame of expressional area was analyzed by category analysis and 150 fashion illustrations from 1900 to 1999 were analyzed by contents analysis. The results of this study were as follows: The expressions of metonymy were categorized by close-up, realistic expression, omission, borrowing of past style, simplification and deconstruction. First, close-up was presented as emphasis of small part of fashion by cutting the scenes, snapshot, emphasis, etc. Second, realistic expression was presented as description of related circumstance with fashion message through perspective and realistic description of circumstance related to figures. Third, omission was presented as seeking of essential core by removing color, pattern, texture or by omitting body and as emphasis of communication about dominant fashion message. Fourth, borrowing of past style was presented as reminding us of background of the past. Fifth, simplification was presented as using of form or color to alleviate tension of object and to restore the essential reality. Sixth, deconstruction was presented as fragmenting of image, flattening of body and clothing, weakness of form, and strength of color. In conclusion, metonymy made by experience system of thinking based on the reality, have extended expressional territory in pre-existing fashion illustration. And these ways not only will provide fashion image as illustrator's subjective intention and theoretical system of expression of message, but also will be useful way to strengthen communication for easier interpretation of fashion illustration.

  • The development of new material systems like Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) places ever higher demands on the techniques for non-destructive material characterisation. Image-producing eddy current methods also need to satisfy these demands. Eddy-current imaging of FRP is based on the anisotropic electrical properties of the material investigated. Significant differences in conductivity between carbon fibres, polymer matrix and integrated functional components can be found. The availability of high-resolution sensors enables access to the local distribution of the electromagnetic properties. The static and dynamic procedures for isolating influential characteristics, already in use in eddy-current technology, can now be supplemented by topographical images. The precondition for a successful implementation of the eddy-current procedure is a deeper understanding of the image-generating process which allows correct interpretation of the images obtained.

Extreme Learning Machine Ensemble Using Bagging for Facial Expression Recognition

  • An extreme learning machine (ELM) is a recently proposed learning algorithm for a single-layer feed forward neural network. In this paper we studied the ensemble of ELM by using a bagging algorithm for facial expression recognition (FER). Facial expression analysis is widely used in the behavior interpretation of emotions, for cognitive science, and social interactions. This paper presents a method for FER based on the histogram of orientation gradient (HOG) features using an ELM ensemble. First, the HOG features were extracted from the face image by dividing it into a number of small cells. A bagging algorithm was then used to construct many different bags of training data and each of them was trained by using separate ELMs. To recognize the expression of the input face image, HOG features were fed to each trained ELM and the results were combined by using a majority voting scheme. The ELM ensemble using bagging improves the generalized capability of the network significantly. The two available datasets (JAFFE and CK+) of facial expressions were used to evaluate the performance of the proposed classification system. Even the performance of individual ELM was smaller and the ELM ensemble using a bagging algorithm improved the recognition performance significantly.

  • Among various physical or subjective assessments of the quality of X-ray images, physical assessments can be quantitative but they are eventually judged by the view of observers thus subjective assessments including the aspect of observers are required. The changes in the ability to detect lesions caused by changes in the thickness of acrylic plates were tested with the ROC interpretation method that has taken into consideration, all the features of physical assessments as well as observers' ability to observe and mental stages and even surrounding environments using an Alvim phantom and the result indicated that as the thickness of acrylic plates increased, the amount of noises occurred increased compared to signals and thus the ability to detect signals as well as the sensitivity that is an ability to signals accurately and the ability to distinguish noises from signals thus it is considered that more efforts of radiologic technologists will be required to detect small lesions of fat patients with diagnostic X-ray generating apparatus.

  • 기존의 수직 사진은 지도 제작 목적으로 충분한 역할을 하였으며, 현재도 영상 지도 등의 용도로 다양하게 사용되고 있다. 하지만, 3차원 입체 영상 지도 제작이나, 3차원 모델링 등에 있어서는 대상물의 측면정보를 취득하는데 있어서는 한계가 있다고 할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 항공 경사 영상을 이용하여 건물의 수직, 측면 정보를 동시에 취득하여 도시 행정에 활용하기 위한 방안을 연구하였다. 본 연구의 결과 다양한 도시정보의 추출이 가능하였으며, 기존의 수직 사진의 한계를 극복할 수 있는 기법으로 사용이 가능한 것으로 사료된다.
