  • Readily available high resolution brain MRI scans allow detailed visualization of the brain structures. Researchers have focused on developing methods to quantify shape differences specific to diseased scans. We have developed a novel method to quantify shape information for a specific population based on Multidimensional scaling(MDS). MDS is a well known tool in statistics and here we apply this classical tool to quantify shape change. Distance measures are required in MDS which are computed from pair-wise image registrations of the training set. Registration step establishes spatial correspondence among scans so that they can be compared in the same spatial framework. One benefit of our method is that it is quite robust to errors in registrations. Applying our method to 13 brain MRI showed clear separation between normal and diseased (Cushing's syndrome). Intentionally perturbing the image registration results did not significantly affect the separability of two clusters. We have developed a novel method to quantify shape based on MDS, which is robust to image mis-registration.

  • This paper presents algorithms which are region labeling and data structure of a boundary segmentation as image intermediate description process. In the method, the algorithms are region labeling, boundary segmentation, line and curve fitting and extracting data structure of each segment. As a result, a data structure of image is described by a set of region number, segment number, line or curve, starting point and end point of each segment and coefficient of line or curve. These data structures would serve for higher level processing as object recognition. For example we will use this data structure to solve the correspondence problem of stereoscopic image information. And we verified these algorithms through the image reconstruction of data structure.

  • In this paper, we propose a method for estimating the pose of the camera using a rectangle feature utilized for the visual SLAM. A warped rectangle feature as a quadrilateral in the image by the perspective transformation is reconstructed by the Coupled Line Camera algorithm. In order to fully reconstruct a rectangle in the real world coordinate, the distance between the features and the camera is needed. The distance in the real world coordinate can be measured by using a stereo camera. Using properties of the line camera, the physical size of the rectangle feature can be induced from the distance. The correspondence between the quadrilateral in the image and the rectangle in the real world coordinate can restore the relative pose between the camera and the feature through obtaining the homography. In order to evaluate the performance, we analyzed the result of proposed method with its reference pose in Gazebo robot simulator.

  • Images are 2-dimensional projection of 3-dimensional scenes and many problems of scene analysis arise due to inherent depth ambiguities in a monocular 2-D image. Therefore, depth recovery is a crucial problem in image understanding. This paper proposes modified algorithm which is focused on accurate correspondnce in stereo vision. The feature we use is zero-crossing points and the similarity measure with two property evaluation function is used to estimate initial probability. And we introduce relaxation technique for accurate and global correspondence.

  • Stereo vision is useful to obtain three dimensional depth information from two images taken from different view points. In this paper, we reduce searching area for correspondence by using the intra-scanline constraint, and utilize the inter-scanline constraint and the property of disparity continuity among the neighboring pixels for relaxation. Nodes with 3-D stucture are located on the axes of two views, and have matching possibility of correspondent pixels of two images. A matching is accepted if a node at the intersection of the disparity axes has the greatest matching possibility. Otherwise, the matching possibility of the node is updated by relaxation with the cooperation of neighboring nodes. Further relaxation with competition of two views is applied to a matching possibility of randomly selected node. The consensus of two views increases the confidence of matching, and removes a blurring phenomenon on the discontinuity of object. This approach has been tested with various types of image such as random dot stereogram and aerial image, and the experimental results show good matching performance.

  • We have studied elemental image compatibility between integral imaging(II) and parallax generation(PG) system for three-dimensional display. The elemental images of PG can be obtained by recombination of the elemental images picked up in II system. The theoretical verification and the experimental results show that the elemental images of PG are in correspondence with the elemental images of II system with proper transformation conditions.

  • This paper presents a stereo camera system that provides a Pair of stereo images using a Biprism. The equivalent of a stereo Pair of images is formed as the left and right halves of a single CCD image. The system is therefore cheap and extremely easy to calibrate since it requires only one CCD camera. An additional advantage of the geometrical set-up is that corresponding features lie on the same scanline automatically, The single camera and Biprism have led to a simple stereo system for which correspondence is very easy and which is accurate for nearby objects in a small field of view. Since we use only a single lens, calibration of the system is greatly simplified. Given the parameters in the Biprism-stereo camera system, we can reconstruct the 3-D structure using only the disparity between the corresponding points.

  • This study analyzed the influence service quality has on customers satisfaction and revisits to foodservice enterprises located in the Jeonju area. The result are as followings. First, factor analysis was performed with 25 variables, drawing out five accessibility, materiality, assurance, speciality, and correspondence. Second, study model analysis showed that the service quality of foodservice operations located in the Jeonju area had an influence on customers satisfaction. This was especially significant for the factors of accessibility and materiality. Third, when considering customer satisfaction with restaurants, satisfaction with the area's image, and satisfaction with the area's sightseeing, we found that satisfaction with the restaurants and satisfaction with the area's image influenced revisits. This suggests that the higher a customer's satisfaction the more foodservice businesses they want to visit. Thus the foodservice businesses located in the Jeonju area must promote service quality so that customers are satisfied and repeatedly visit the restaurants.

  • It is effectively removed noise in the image using FCNN(Fuzzy Cellular Neural Network) applying fuzzy theory to CNN(Cellular Neural Network) structure and HD(Hausdorff Distance) commonly used measures for object matching. HD calculates the distance between two point set of pixels in two-dimensional binary images without establishing correspondence. Also, this method is proposed in order to improve the operation speed. In this paper, $\alpha$-LTSHD(Least Trimmed Square HD) operator applying $\alpha$-Trimmed to LTSHD, one field of HD, is applied to FCNN structure, and it is proposed as the modified method in order to remove noise in the image. Also, it is made a comparison with the other filters by using MSE and SNR after removing noise using the FCNNS which are applied $\alpha$-LTSHD operator through the computer simulation. In a result, FCNN performance which is applied the proposed $\alpha$-LTSHD demonstrated the superiority to the other filters in the noise removal.

  • In the process of creating architectural scenes from photographs using Model-based Stereo 〔1〕, the geometric model is used as prior information to solve correspondence problems and recover the depth or disparity of real scenes. This paper presents an Image Subregioning algorithm that divides left and right images into several rectangular sub-images. The division is done according to the estimated depth of real scenes using a Heuristic Approach. The depth difference between the reality and the model can be partitioned into each depth level. This reduces disparity search range in the Similarity Function. For architectural scenes with complex depth, experiments using the above approach show that accurate disparity maps and better results when rendering scenes can be achieved by the proposed algorithm.
