The Correlation between Nurse's image, Biomedical ethics and Professionalism in Nursing Students (간호학생의 간호사이미지, 생명윤리의식 및 간호전문직관의 상관관계)

  • This study was done to identify the relationship between nurses's image, biomedical ethics, and professionalism of nursing students. Subjects were 223 nursing students in Korea. Data were collected using self-report questionaires from September 4 to 19, 2014. Data were analyzed by frequency, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation using SPSS Win 20 program. Nurse's image was significantly correlation with biomedical ethics and professionalism in nursing students. Therefore, to increase nurse's image, biomedical ethics and professionalism of nursing students, it is necessary to develop and test program for improving nurse's image, biomedical ethics and professionalism of nursing students.

The relationship among Satisfaction of Major, Critical thinking Disposition and Nurse image for Nursing students (간호대학생의 전공만족도와 비판적 사고성향, 간호사이미지간의 관계)

  • This study was done to identify the relationship between safisfaction with major, critical thinking disposition and nurse image of nursing students. Subjects were 280 associates nursing students (2nd, 3rd, 4th grade) in M university. SPSS 21.0 was used to analyze the data for the descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe's test, and Pearson correlation coefficients. The score for satisfaction of major was 3.81, critical thinking disposition scoring 3.52, nurse image scoring 3.85. Satisfaction of major was significantly positive correlation between critical thinking disposition and nurse image of nursing students. Therefore, increase to satisfaction of major in nursing student, it is necessary to study how to improve the nurse image by improving the critical thinking disposition of nursing students.

Fetal Interventricular Septum Volume Evaluated by Three-Dimensional Ultrasound Using Spatiotemporal Image Correlation and Virtual Organ Computer-Aided Analysis in Fetuses From Pre-Gestational Diabetes Mellitus Pregnant Women

  • BACKGROUND: To assess the interventricular septum (IVS) volume of fetuses from pre-gestational diabetes mellitus (DM) pregnant women by 3-dimensional ultrasound using spatiotemporal image correlation (STIC) and virtual organ computer-aided analysis (VOCAL) methods. METHODS: This was a prospective cross-sectional study of 45 fetuses from pre-gestational DM and 45 fetuses from healthy pregnant women (controls). Only singleton pregnancies between 20 and 34 + 6 weeks of gestation were included. The fetal IVS volumes were obtained off-line using STIC and VOCAL methods. To analyze differences among variables, the Student's t-test and Mann-Whitney U test were used. The correlation among continuous variables was determine using Spearman's correlation test (r). RESULTS: The median of fetal IVS volume was significantly higher in pre-gestational DM than in healthy pregnant women (0.3 cm3 vs. 0.2 cm3, p = 0.032). A strong positive correlation was observed between fetal IVS volume and gestational age at the time of ultrasound examination (r = 0.75, R2 = 0.48, p < 0.0001) and between fetal IVS volume and estimated fetal weight (r = 0.63, R2 = 0.37, p < 0.0001). No significant correlation was noted between fetal IVS volume and glycated hemoglobin levels (r = -0.16, R2 = 0.01, p = 0.540) in the pre-gestational DM pregnant women. CONCLUSIONS: Significant differences were observed in fetal IVS volumes between pre-gestational and healthy mothers, with higher values in the fetuses of pre-gestational DM pregnant women.

Relationships among Body Image, Self-esteem and Health Promotion Behavior in Mastectomy Patients (유방절제술 환자의 신체상, 자아존중감과 건강증진행위의 관계)

  • Purpose: This study was designed to fine out the relationships among body image, self-esteem and health promotion behavior in mastectomy patients. Method: Data were obtained by self -reported questionnaires from 218 patients undergone mastectomy from September 1 to October 15, 2005. And data were analyzed using SPSS/PC WIN 12.0 program. For the statistical analysis of the date, frequency and percentage, mean and standard deviation, t-test, ANOVA and Scheffe test and Pearson's correlation coefficients were used. Result: The mean scores of the body image, self-esteem, and health promotion of the subjects were $41{\pm}7.40$ (range of scale : 17 to 68), $22.22{\pm}4.95$ range of scale : 10 to 40), and $130.45{\pm}23.99$ range of scale : 50 to 200), respectively. There were significant differences with the score of body image by the work type (F=4.018, p= .008), a number of child (F=3.069, p= .029), and participation with self help group program (t=68.177, p= .001). There were significant differences with the score of self-esteem by the type of religion (F=4.546, p= .002), work type (F=4.488, p= .004), post operation period (F=2.814, p= .026), and participation with self help group program (t=12.901, p= .001). There were significant differences with the score of the health promotion behavior by the type of religion (F=3.066, p= .018), economic state (F=11.765, p= .001), level of education (F=6.285, p= .001), operation site (F=.368, p=.027), family history (t=6.557, p= .011), and hope of breast reconstruction (t=7.025, p=.009). Relationship between body image and self-esteem showed moderate positive correlation (r=0.631, p= .001). The relationship between body image and health promotion behavior showed slightly positive correlation (r=0.257, p= .001). The relationship between self-esteem and health promotion behavior showed moderate positive correlation (r=0.431, p=.001). Conclusion: For the increasement of the health promotion behavior, it is needed to improve body image and self-esteem in mastectomy patients. And, It is needed to encourage to participate with self help group program in mastectomy patients.

  • Digital image analysis techniques have been developed and utilized in the field of solid mechanics and fluid mechanics to measure the deformation and velocity of a target object. The deformation measurement systems based on Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) and Digital Image Correlation (DIC) have been attempted in geotechnical testings (e.g., physical model tests) for observing the deformation of soils. The digital image analysis is influenced by image pattern of test materials, resolution of the used digital camera, target area, image analysis techniques, and analysis conditions. Therefore, optimal analysis conditions should be determined to obtain high quality results on soil deformations. In the present study, various influence factors on the digital image analysis were described and summarized. The optimizing procedure for high accurate results was then proposed. Finally, the applicability of the developed procedure was examined.

  • The purpose of this study is focused on the development of compound classification process by mixing multitemporal data and annexing a specific image enhancement technique with a specific image classification algorithm, to gain more accurate land information from satellite imagery. That is, this study suggests the classification process using canonical correlation classification technique after principal component analysis for the mixed multitemporal data. The result of this proposed classification process is compared with the canonical correlation classification result of one date images, multitemporal imagery and a mixed image after principal component analysis for one date images. The satellite images which are used are the Landsat 5 TM images acquired on July 26, 1994 and September 1, 1996. Ground truth data for accuracy assessment is obtained from topographic map and aerial photograph, and all of the study area is used for accuracy assessment. The proposed compound classification process showed superior efficiency to appling canonical correlation classification technique for only one date image in classification accuracy by 8.2%. Especially, it was valid in classifying mixed urban area correctly. Conclusively, to improve the classification accuracy when extracting land cover information using Landsat TM image, appling canonical correlation classification technique after principal component analysis for multitemporal imagery is very useful.

  • In this study, we measured the natural frequencies of aluminum honeycomb sandwich beams using digital image correlation technique. The vibration images were captured using two high speed digital cameras and the images were converted to displacements by the digital image correlation technique. Displacement data in time domain were tranformed to frequency domain data by fast Fourier transform software. To reduce noise invoked by random exitation, a spectrum averaging technique and Savitsky-Golay digital filter were adopted. A conventional vibration measurement using an accelerometer and a finite element analysis were performed to compare the results by high speed digital camera measurement method. In conclusion, new method using high speed digital cameras and digital image correlation technique can measure the vibration of beam structures and can be applied to bio-structures where sensors cannot be attached.

  • Digital Image Correlation is a well-established method for displacements, strains and shape measurements of engineering objects. Stereo-camera 3D Digital Image Correlation (3D-DIC) systems have been developed to match the specific requirements for measurements posed by material and mechanical industries. Although DIC method provides the capabilities of scaling a field-of-view(FOV), dimensions of Geotechnical structure objects in many cases are too big to be measured with DIC based on a single camera pair. It can be the most important issue with applying 3D DIC to the measurement of Geotechnical structures. In this paper, We were present stereo vision conditions in a 3D DIC system that can be measured for large FOV(30×20m) and high precisions(z-displacement 0.5mm) of the ground objects with Stereo-camera DIC systems.

A Novel Water Surface Detection Method Based on Correlation Analysis for Rectangular Control Area (직사각형 검사영역의 상관도 분석을 통한 수면위치 탐색 방법)

  • In this study, a novel water surface detection method was proposed. In the method water surface is detected by analysis on correlation coefficients obtained from rectangular control areas of the same vertical position in two successive images including both water surface and staff gauge. Four methods respectively based on threshold, peak, slope and variance ratio, are used to identify water surface from vertical distribution of correlation coefficient. In addition, swaying correction algorithm and statistical filtering are applied to minimize outliers caused by positional image mismatch. Images taken from 28 different sites during low flow were tested to evaluate the method. Mean relative error to eye measurement was approximately from 3.4 to 5.7 cm. As long as water surface moves, this method can be used to improve image stage gauge by supplementing the previous water surface detection method.

An Efficient Signature Recognition Based on Histogram Using Statistical Characteristics (통계적 속성을 이용한 히스토그램 기반 효율적인 서명인식)

  • This paper presents an efficient signature recognition method by using the hybrid similarity criterion, which is in inverse proportion to distance and in proportion to correlation between the images. The distance is applied to express the spacial property of image, and the correlation is also applied to express the statistical property. The proposed criterion provides the robust recognition to both the geometrical variations such as position, size, and rotation and the shape variation. The normalized cross-correlation(NCC), which is calculated by considering 4 directions based on the histogram of binary image, is applied to express rapidly and accurately the similarity between the images. The proposed method has been applied to the problem for recognizing the 20 truck images of 288*288 pixels and the 105(3 persons * 35 images) signature images of 256*256 pixels, respectively. The experimental results show that the proposed method has a superior recognition performance that appears the image characters well. Especially, the hybrid criterion of NCC and ordinal distance has a superior recognition performance to the hybrid criterion using city-block or Euclidean distance.
