LED visible light communication and their application (LED 가시광 통신시스템과 그 응용)

  • LED(Light Emitting Diode) is an emitting device which energy is same to the bandgap energy of p-type and n-type semiconductor junction. Recently high brightness LED is used in fish-luring light and traffic signal light alternative of normal light bulb, and widely used in the area of display pannel. Moreover nowadays LED has been used as a back light of LCD display. Recently, visible light communication(VLC) using LED, that allow two-way serial data communication between LEDs over a distance of sveral centimeters or meters, has been widely studied in the area of digital information transmission along with illumination and display. In this paper, we present LED communication system and their applications.

  • In this paper, we introduce a fire detection system using context-aware sensor. In existing weather and based on vision sensor of fire detection system case, acquired image through sensor of camera is extracting features about fire range as processing to convert HSI(Hue, Saturation, Intensity) model HSI which is color space can have durability in illumination changes. However, in this case, until a fire occurs wide range of sensing a fire in a single camera sensor, it is difficult to detect the occurrence of a fire. Additionally, the fire detection in complex situations as well as difficult to separate continuous boundary is set for the required area is difficult. In this paper, we propose an algorithm for real-time by using a temperature sensor, humidity, Co2, the flame presence information acquired and comparing the data based on multiple conditions, analyze and determine the weighting according to fire it. In addition, it is possible to differential management to intensive fire detection is required zone dividing the state of fire.

Traffic Sign Detection Using The HSI Eigen-color model and Invariant Moments (HSI 고유칼라 모델과 불변 모멘트를 이용한 교통 표지판 검출 방법)

  • In the research for driver assistance systems, traffic sign information to the driver must be a very important information. Therefore, the detection system of traffic signs located on the road should be able to handel real-time. To detect the traffic signs, color and shape of traffic signs is to use the information after images obtained using the CCD camera. In the road environment, however, using color information to detect traffic sings will cause many problems due to changes of weather and environmental factors. In this paper, to solve it, the candidate traffic sign regions are detected from road images obtained in a variety of the illumination changes using the HSI eign-color model. And then, using the invariant moment-based SVM classifier to detect traffic signs are proposed. Experimental results show that, traffic sign detection rate is 91%, and the processing time per frame is 0.38sec. Proposed method is useful for real-time intelligent traffic guidance systems can be applied.

  • In this paper, we propose the algorithm for the AR(Augmented Reality) system, which is robust to the brightness change of light. In the proposed method, the histogram specification is achieved using the sample histogram, obtained from the frames in which the target objects could be detected successful. And When the object key-points couldn't be detected by the displacement of camera positions, the positions of non-detected key-points ware estimated using the linear KF(Kalman Filter). When the proposed algorithm is applied in the AR systems, the object key-points can be detected three times as much as the existing others. In addition, to prove the more efficiency of the proposed algorithm, we implemented the AR game, and could know that the performance is the more advanced than the others. The proposed algorithm can be used for the AR environments, which high efficiency is required such as the AR game, or the implementation of AR systems which are robust to the change of lights, etc.

  • In this paper, we propose an region segmentation and texture based feature extraction method which split the pavement and roadway from the camera which equipped to the visually impaired person during a walk. We perform the hough transformation method for detect the boundary between pavement and roadway, and devide the segmented region into 3-level according to perspective. Next step, split into pavement and roadway according to the extracted texture feature of segmented regions. Our walking assistance system use rotation-invariant LBP and GLCM texture features for compare the characteristic of pavement block with various pattern and uniformity roadway. Our proposed method show that can segment two regions with illumination invariant in day and night image, and split there regions rotation and occlution invariant in complexed outdoor image.

  • In this paper, we have studied a method of forming a line beam using a UV LED. The existing linear-type UV LED curing optical system is composed of several cylindrical lenses, but problems such as optical system alignment, enlargement of the module, efficiency, etc. may arise in the future. As an alternative to these problems, a bar-type TIR lens having a freeform surface only in the y-axis direction is designed, to verify that it shows advantages in maximum illuminance, uniformity of illuminance, and flux efficiency.

Reducing the Effects of Noise Light in A Visible Light Communication System Using Orthogonal Polarizers (가시 광통신에서 직교 편광기를 이용한 잡음광의 영향 감소)

  • In this paper, we reduced the optical noise interference using polarizers in a visible light communication system. In a transmitter, two light-emitting diodes(LEDs) are modulated synchronously by the original and the reversed signals of the transmitted data, and the two LED lights are radiated through orthogonal polarizers. In a receiver, two optical signals are detected through orthogonal polarizers and differentially amplified to remove the optical noise. In an environment that noise light from a fluorescent lamp is much stronger than the signal, the receiver with orthogonal polarizers removed the 120 Hz noise, and synchronous light transmission of the original and the reversed signals using two LEDs reduced the illumination flickering to about one-eighth that using one LED.

  • Shore-to-sea visible light communication using color clustered multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) is presented. The proposed maritime visible light communication (MVLC) offers a low-cost, high-speed wireless link for shore-to-sea maritime communications. Each color cluster is comprised of 50 red, green and blue (RGB) light emitting diodes (LEDs) and is modulated using on-off-keying (OOK). Selection combining is performed at the receiver, producing diversity effect within that color cluster. In this paper, we employ sea states (wave height, wind speed, etc.) data from both Pierson-Moskowitz and JONSWAP spectrum models under atmospheric turbulence conditions. Based on the simulation model, the maritime link quality is analysed in terms of coverage distance and bit error rate performance. The results show that the proposed system provides an efficient MVLC, while satisfying International Association of Lighthouse Authorities (IALA) requirements for maritime buoyage system and also offering sufficient illumination from high power LEDs.

Detection of Vibrio vulnificus in Fish Farm and Bactericidal Methods on this Bacteria (가두리 양식장의 Vibrio vulnificus 검출 및 제어 방법)

  • Detection of Vibrio vulnificus in fish farm and searching for the bactericidal methods on this bacteria were studied. To detect this microorganism in sea water, mud, fish and mussels, selective isolation methods and detection of vvhA gene were used from January to October,2000. V. vulnificus was detected from May when the water temperature was over $17^{\circ}C$. From June to September, higher than $19^{\circ}C$, this bacteria could be isolated from most of the samples. Freezing and refrigerating did not inhibit the growth of V. vulnificus. Citric acid did not show the bactericidal effect, but more than 500 mg/l of EDTA did. With the aid of UV and photocatalyst, $TiO_{2}$ showed bactericidal effect after 15 minute treatment. Photocatalytic system consisted of glass bead coated with $TiO_{2}$ and UV illumination showed bactericidal effect on V. vulnificus at the turnover rate of 0.2/min.

The Tool Coordinate Adjustment Algorithm for Robot Manipulators with Visual Sensor (시각 센서에 의한 로봇 매니퓰레이터의 툴 좌표계 보정에 관한 연구)

  • Recently many robot manipulators are used for various areas of industriesand factories. It has been frequently observed that the robot manipulator fails to complete the function when the object changes its original position, Due to the unexpected impacts and vibrations the center and direction of the object would be shifted in many real application. In this study, a visual sensing algorithm for the robot manipulator is proposed. The algorithm consists of two parts : Detection of the object migration and adjustments of the orobot manipulators Tool Coordinate System. The image filtering technique with visual sensor is applied for the first part of the algorithm. The change of illumination intensity indicates the object migration. Once the object migration is detected, the second part of the algorithm calculates the current position of the object. Then it adjusts the robot manipulators Tool Coordinate System. The robot manipulator and the Visual sensor communicate each other using interrupt technique via proposed algorithm. It has been observed that the proposed algorithm reduces the malfunction of a robot manipulator significantly. Thus it can provide better line balance-up of the manufacturing processes and prevent industrial accidents efficiently.
