Evaluation of color CRT monitor by MTFA (MTFA에 의한 칼라 CRT의 화질 평가)

  • The MTF(modulation transfer function) measuring system with a linear CCD(charge coupled-device) was constructed to cvaluate a color CRT(catode ray tube). The measured MTF values were corrected by considering the spectral response and the pixel sizes of CCD. The effects of a spot size, video bandwidth, pitch of shadow mask holes, display luminance, and ambient illumination on image quality were studied. The uniformity of resolution and the contrast Ioss by ambient light of the color CRT monitor were measured, and the results were analyzed by MTFA(modulation threshold area).

  • This paper describes current work regarding two EC funded projects, MUTED and HELIUM3D whose objective is to produce an autostereoscopic display system which is well suited to domestic television applications. Both of these projects have common roots in a previous EC funded project (ATTEST) and both employ laser illumination and viewer head tracking.

  • In this paper, we have studied for the current control method with high accuracy for the high power LED driver that is necessary to the lighting system using LEDs. The control performance of LED driver can be improved with the adjustment of current control boundary by introducing D/A converters for setting high-offset and low-offset. And microprocessor (ATmega128) and D/A converter with 8 bits resolution are used in the proposed driver so that LED's illumination can be remotely controlled by serial communication on the spot or by key input. In the results of performance tests, we confirmed that the proposed control method is superior to the conventional control method using op-amps.

  • In this paper, we propose a stereo vision based monitoring concept for passenger's safety on railroad platform. In general, basic concept of stereo image processing technique uses the correlations between left and right images, and extracts additional distance information. It provides easy removal of ambient illumination changes, which has been difficult to achieve with conventional 2D based image processing technique. In the paper, we present developed stereo camera and stereo vision based detection algorithm in order to monitor possible accidents at platform area, and verified the detection performance of proposed system with experimental results.

  • Recently, we have used LEDs to illumination because it has a high luminous efficiency and prolong lifespan. However the light power and lifetime is reduced by junction temperature increment of LED. So it is important to measure the junction temperature accurately. In case of using a electrical method measuring junction temperature of LED. Temperature measurement errors are spontaneously generated because of a parasitic capacitances in LED. In this paper, we proposed a method that reducing LED's parasitic capacitance effects for electrical measurement. It was demonstrated by the experimental result that is more correct than established method.

  • This paper proposes a novel face recognition algorithm to recognize human face robustly under various conditions, such as changes of pose, illumination, and expression, etc. at indoor environments. A conventional automatic face recognition system consists of the detection and the recognition part. Generally, the detection part is dominant over the other part in the estimating whole recognition rate. So, in this paper, we suggest the view-specific eigenface method as preprocessor to estimate various poses of the face in the input image. Then, we apply the Enhanced FLD Models (EFM) to the result of it, twice. Because, the EFM recognizes human face, and reduces the error of standardization effectively.   • This paper reports the development of a mobile robot for patrol using a single laser range finder. A Laser range finder is useful for outdoor environment regardless of illumination change or various weather conditions. In this paper we combined the motion control of the mobile robot and the algorithm for detecting the outdoor environment. For obstacle avoidance, we adopted the Vector Field Histogram algorithm. A laser range finder is mounted on the mobile robot and looking down the road with a small tilt angle. We propose an algorithm for detecting the surface of the road. The outdoor patrol robot platform is equipped with a DGPS system, a gyro-compass sensor, and a laser range finder. The proposed obstacle avoidance and road detection algorithms were experimentally tested in success.

  • Ferricytochrome c was artificially made to receive the aqueous electrons evolved through the influence of illuminated chloroplast. This ferricytochrome c, which was bombarded by electrons, was reduced to ferrocytochrome c by making sure that a certain cytochrome is reduced. This may require an electronic attack that is created by the chloroplast inside the plant cell. The possibility of reversing the oxidation of ferrocytochrome c by cytochrome oxidase was examined using a contrived redox system composed of cytochrome oxidase, ferricytochrome c and chloroplast with illumination. We recognized that the oxidase is unserviceable for the reversibleness in spite of the existence of chloroplast.

  • This study experimented to understand the effect of transporting ice slurry through in pipe with valve. And at this experiment it used ethylene glycol-water solution and a concentration is 30wt%. The experimental apparatus was constructed of ice slurry generation tank, turbo flow meter, manometers for differential pressure measuring, PIV system for flow pattern measuring. illumination and along a horizontal circular tube with valve as test section. The experiments were carried out under various conditions, with velocity of fluid at the entry ranging from 0.5 to 1.5 m/s and concentration of IPF is 30%. Also valve open rate is 50%, 75%, 100%.

  • In this paper, segmenting and classifying low contrast defects on flat panel display is one of the key problems for automatic inspection system in practice. Problems become more complicated when the quality of acquired image is degraded by the illumination irregularity. Many algorithms are developed and implemented successfully for the defects segmentation. However, vision algorithms are inherently prone to be dependent on parameters to be set manually. In this paper, one morphological segmentation algorithm is chosen and a technique using frequency domain analysis of input images is developed for automatically selection the morphological parameter. An extensive statistical performance analysis is performed to compare the developed algorithms.
