Development of Remote Control and Monitoring System for HID Street-lamp Based on Low Cost Zigbee Communication Network (저 가격형 Zigbee 통신 네트워크 기반 HID 가로등의 원격 제어 및 감시 시스템 개발)

  • In this paper, remote control and surveillance monitoring system of HID street-lamp using low-cost type of Zigbee communication module was developed. A plurality of capacitors with different capacity are attached to magnetic ballast for HID lamps. Changes in the amount of illumination can be adjusted by the changes in capacity so that the electric energy can be reduced. In Zigbee communication module, a ATmega128L microprocessor is used and in main CPU, ARM9 Core is used to construct a low-cost smart system. In surveillance monitoring systems, the system was configured to remote monitoring of presence of error in the lamp abnormalities, the status of leakage current and abnormalities of ballasts and capacitors and the validity of the proposed empirical experiment was confirmed.

  • A lane departure warning system based on single lane mark detection is presented in this paper. The proposed system is focused on the robust detection of lane departure, even when one of the left or the right lane mark cannot be detected because of poor illumination or abrasion. Experimental results show that the proposed system warns lane departure, even if only a single lane is detected.

  • The capability of pilot injection with small fuel quantity at all engine operating conditions is one of the main feature of the common rail direct injection system. The purpose of the pilot injection is to lower the engine noise and to reduce the NOx emissions. This study describes the pilot spray structure characteristics of the common-rail diesel injectors with different electric driving characteristics, including solenoid-driven and piezo-driven type. Namely three common-rail injectors with different electric current wave were investigated in this study. The pilot spray characteristics such as spray speed, spray tip penetration, and spray angle were obtained by spray images, which is measured by the back diffusion light illumination method with optical system for high-speed temporal photography. As this research results, it was found that pilot injection of common-rail system was effected by rate of injection with different electrical characteristic for driving the injector.

  • In this paper, we address an active ranging system based on laser structured light image for mobile robot application. Since the burdensome correspondence problem is avoidable, the structured light image processing has efficient computation in comparison with the conventional stereo image processing. By using a cylindrical lens in the laser generation, it is possible to convert a point laser into a stripe laser without motorized scan in the proposed system. In order to achieve robustness against environmental illumination noise, we propose an efficient integro-differential image processing algorithm. The proposed system has embedded image processing module and transmits distance data to reduce the computational burden in main control system.

  • This paper describes the development of integrated head and eye tracker system. Vision based head tracker is performed and it has 7mm error in 300mm translation. The epi-polar method and point matching are used for determining a position of head and rotational degree. High brightness LEDs are installed on helmet and the installed pattern is very important to match the points of stereo system. Eye tracker also uses LED for constant illumination. A Position of gazed object(3m distance) is determined by pupil tracking and eye tracker has 1~5 pixel error. Integration of result data of each tracking system is important. RS-232C communication is applied to integrated system and triggering signal is used for synchronization.

  • Automatic Vision Inspection (AVI) systems automatically detect defect features and measure their sizes via camera vision. It has been populated because of the accuracy and consistency in terms of QC (Quality Control) of inspection processes. Also, it is important to predict the performance of an AVI to meet customer's specification in advance. AVI are usually suffered from false negative and positives. It can be overcome by providing extra information such as 3D depth information. Stereo vision processing has been popular for depth extraction of the 3D images from 2D images. However, stereo vision methods usually take long time to process. In this paper, retro optical system using reflectors is proposed and experimented to overcome the problem. The optical system extracts the depth without special SW processes. The vision sensor and optical components such as illumination and depth detecting module are integrated as a unit. The depth information can be extracted on real-time basis and utilized and can improve the performance of an AVI system.

  • The highly efficient photoelectric conversion of chlorophyll a (Chl a) monolayers and multilayers was investigated. Using the Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) technique, Chl a monolayers and multilayers were fabricated onto optically transparent electrode, such as ITO glass. The photocurrent could be observed according to the light illumination. The action spectrum of the Chl a LB films was well consistent with its absorption spectrum. The possible application of the proposed system as a constituent of the artificial color recognition device was suggested.

  • With the advancements or LEDs and lasers in projection display applications, arc lamps still provide the most cost effective solution to high brightness display systems. When will arc lamps become obsolete, will be of great importance today and tomorrow? Given the fact that traditional elliptical and parabolic reflectors had been around for decades; Wavien's new dual paraboloid reflector (DPR) technology with its unique imaging property enhances various aspects of the arc lamp performance will shed some light to this question. In this talk, various applications that are feasible today and anticipated needs of tomorrow will be presented.
