In this study, the anti-lipidperoxidative effects of G009, a polysaccharide extracted from Ganoderma lucidum IY009, was determined in ascorbic acid-$Fe^{2+}$-adenosine 5-diphosphate-intoxicated rat. In a model of ascorbic acid-Fe$^{2+}$-adenosine 5-diphosphate-induced hepatotoxicity in rat, G009 exhibited anti-lipidperoxidative effect in rat liver homogenate, and that malondialdehyde values of the liver homogenate inhibited from 48.1% to 74.8% in comparison to controls (p<0.05). The malondialdehyde formation in serum inhibited 66.5% at 100 mg/kg of G009. Also, serum levels of glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase and glutamic pyruvic transaminase in peroxidizer-induced rats treated with G009 was decreased compared with control. Especially, the formation of lipid peroxides in serum was related to glutamic pyruvic transaminase levels. These results suggest that G009 has a protective effect on ascorbic acid-$Fe^{2+}$-adenosine 5-diphosphate-induced hepatic injury through an inhibition of lipid peroxidation in liver.r.

In order to investigate the immunomodulational effects of Lonicerae Caulis et Folium, the author measured cytokines production(IL-10, IL-12(P35), IL12(P40), $IFN-{\gamma}$) in mice splenocytes. The results were obtained as follows : 1. The water extract of Lonicerae Caulis et Folium significantly enhanced the gene expression of IL-12(P35), IL-12(P40), but reduced the gene expression of IL-10, $IFN-{\gamma}$. 2. In water fraction and ethyl acetate fraction, the gene expression of IL-12(P35), $IFN-{\gamma}$ was significantly increased and that of IL-12(P40), IL-10 was decreased. The above results demonstrate that Lonicerae Caulis et Folium has enhancing immune activity by upregulation of these cytokines. Therefore, if we make the relationship between these cytokines(IL-10, IL-12, $IFN-{\gamma}$) besides IL-1, IL-4, IL-6, $TNF-{\alpha}$, IL-8, $TGF-{\beta}$ and so on which concerned the immunopotentiation, the immunopotentiational mechanism of Lonicerae Caulis et Folium will be shown clearly.

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to explore the effects of injection laryngoplasty (IL) with hyaluronic acid in patients with vocal fold paralysis (VFP). Methods: A total of 50 patients with VFP participated in this study. Pre- and post-IL assessments were performed, which included analyzing the sustained vowel /a/ phonation, and the patient reading 1 Korean sentence from the "Walk" passage that comprised 25 syllables in 10 words. To investigate the effect of IL on vocal fold function, acoustic analysis (acoustic voice quality index, cepstral peak prominence, maximum phonation time, speaking fundamental frequency) was conducted and auditory-perceptual (grade and overall severity), visual judgment (gap), and self-questionnaire (voice handicap index-10) assessments were performed. Results: The patients with VFP showed statistically significant differences between pre-and post-IL assessments for acoustic and auditory-perception, visual judgment, and self-questionnaire assessments. Conclusion: The patients with VFP showed positive change in vocal fold function between pre- and post-IL measurements. The findings showed that IL with hyaluronic acid is an effective method to improve vocal fold function in patients with VFP.
