The aim of this study was to explore the accuracy and feasibility of matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS) in identifying bacteria from environmental sources, as compared with rpoA gene sequencing, and to evaluate the occurrence of bacteria of the genus Enterococcus in wild birds. In addition, a phyloproteomic analysis of certain Enterococcus species with spectral relationships was performed. The enterococci were isolated from 25 species of wild birds in central Europe (Poland). Proteomic (MALDI-TOF MS) and genomic (rpoA gene sequencing) methods were used to identify all the isolates. Using MALDI-TOF MS, all 54 (100%) isolates were identified as Enterococcus spp. Among these, 51 (94.4%) isolates were identified to the species level (log(score) ${\geq}2.0$), and three isolates (5.6%) were identified at a level of probable genus identification (log(score) 1.88-1.927). Phylogenetic analysis based on rpoA sequences confirmed that all enterococci had been correctly identified. Enterococcus faecalis was the most prevalent enterococcal species (50%) and Enterococcus faecium (33.3%) the second most frequent species, followed by Enterococcus hirae (9.3%), Enterococcus durans (3.7%), and Enterococcus casseliflavus (3.7%). The phyloproteomic analysis of the spectral profiles of the isolates showed that MALDI-TOF MS is able to differentiate among similar species of the genus Enterococcus.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the factors affecting consumer resistance of smart watches, focusing on consumer groups. SPSS 19.0 was used to conduct a descriptive analysis and multi regression analysis of the data. This study is based on the questionnaire data of 407 consumers. The results of this study are as follows. First, the relative advantage was identified as a factor in reducing consumer resistance across all gender and age groups. Second, complexity has been identified as a factor that increases the consumer resistance of female consumers, and consumer groups in their 20s and 40s. Third, esthetics was found to reduce consumer resistance in men, women, and the consumer group in their 20s. Fourth, subjective norms were identified as a factor reducing consumer resistance in women and in consumer groups in their 20s and 30s. Fifth, the risk of privacy was identified as a factor in increasing consumer resistance in men and the consumer group in their 40s. The results of this study can be helpful to understand consumer resistance to smartwatches.
Objectives : This study was performed to analyze the effective components of essential oil obtained from Yongdamsagantang, which has been efficacious against leukorrhea in gynecologic diseases. Methods : I obtained the essential oils of Yongdamsagan-tang by hydrodistillation extraction method and supercritical fluid extraction(SFE) method, and then I analyzed those by GC/MS(Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrum). Results : 1. The optimum SFE(Supercritical Fluid Extraction) condition was obtained in the following experiment conditions: pressure 200atm, temperature $45^{\circ}C$, duration of extraction 25minutes. 2. With GC(Gas Chromatography) and GC/MS(Gas Chromato- graphy/Mass Spectrum) analysis, I identified 37 compounds in the Yongdamsagan-tang's essential oil obtained through the SFE method. The main compounds were as follows : 3-Methyl-but-2-enoic acid,2,2-dimethyl-8-oxo-3,4-dihydro-2H,8H -pyrano[3,2-g]chromen-3-yl ester(49.81%), (Z)-6-Pentadecen-1 -ol(3.19%), (-)-Spathulenol(2.40%). 3. I identified 4 compounds in the Yongdamsagan-tang's essential oil obtained through the hydrodistillation method. The main compounds were as follows : 3-Methyl-but-2-enoic acid, 2,2-dimethyl-8-oxo-3,4-dihydro-2H,8H-pyrano [3,2-g]chromen-3-yl ester(2.61%). 4. 3-Methy I-but-2-enoic acid, 2,2-dimethyl-8-oxo-3,4-dihydro-2H,8H-pyrano[3,2-g] chromen-3-yl ester, all were identified in both the SFE method and the hydrodistillation method, but the others were not identified in common. 5. I also conducted an additional test in order to examine the essential oil's antimicrobial action against bacteria. Both MIC(Minimum Inhibitory Concentrations) and MBC(Minimum Bactericidal Concentrations) were $0.125mg/m{\ell}$ against N. meningitidis, however MIC and MBC were $1.0mg/m{\ell}$ in antimicrobial action against 12 different genera of bacteria.

Protease producing microorganisms were isolated from many kinds of food waste and fermented foods, which contains high amount and variable kinds of degraded substances. Several microorganisms were identified by 16S rRNA full sequencing analysis methods. The activity of protease was analyzed and identified in variable conditions for the application. For industrial use for biowaste treatment some proteases were isolated, identified and selected from microbial cells. And the tests were carried for the further use. The protein degrading activity at low temperature is useful for the treatment of organic waste, which contains much proteins. By the protein degradation process the organic waste can be utilized in variable fields, for example from feedstuff supplement to fertilizer for agriculture. Bacterial cells with protease activity at low temperature were isolated and identified. The optimal conditions for microbial cultivation and protease production were studied.

Floodplain is a flat plain between levees and rivers. This paper suggests a methodology for analyzing the land uses in the Nakdong River floodplain using the RapidEye imagery and the given LiDAR(LIght Detection And Ranging) DEM(Digital Elevation Models). First, the levee boundaries are generated using the LiDAR DEM, and the area of the floodplain is extracted from the given RapidEye imagery. The land uses in the floodplain are identified in the extracted RapidEye imagery by the ISODATA(Iterative Self-Organizing Data Analysis Technique Analysis) clustering. The overall accuracy of the identified land uses by the ISODATA clustering is 91%. Analysis of the identified land uses in the floodplain is implemented by counting the number of the pixels constituting the land cover clusters. The results of this research shows that the area of the river occupies 46%, the area of the bare soil occupies 36%, the area of the marsh occupies 11%, and the area of the grass occupies 7% in the identified floodplain.
In this study, microorganisms were isolated from nosocomial environment and are identified by biochemical analysis as the part of biochemical and technical convergence. Microorganisms were collected at intense care unit of general hospital located in Pyeongtak (2014.11.28. - 2014. 11. 30). Using a VITEK2 equipment of biochemical approaches, eleven microorganisms e.g., Micrococcus luteus (or M. lylae), Granulicatella adiacens (M. luteus or M. lylae), Staphylococcus caprae, Sphingomonas paucimobilis, Kocuria kristinae, G elegans, Aerococcus viridans (or Staphylococcus arlettae), Methylobacterium spp., Dermacoccus nishinomiyaensis (or Kytococcus sedentarius), Kocuria kristinae (or M. luteus, M. lylae), Pseudomonas oryzihabitans were identified. And then identified bacteria plates were applied with a plastic stick, so called with "FarmeTok (medistick/Puristic) to produce ClO2. ClO2-releasing plastic stick showed the very strong inhibition of bacterial growth with about 99.9%. There were no bacterial colonies on the ClO2-incubated plate. Taken together, it is suggested that chlorine dioxide should be very strong inhibitor to microorganisms of nosocomial infections.
Studies were conducted to investigate the race distribution of soybean cyst nematode (Heterodera glycines Ichinohe) in Korea. The results are abstracted as follows. The soybean cyst nematode populations collected from Kangwon Province were identified as races 1 and 3; the nematode populations collected from Kyunggi Province were identified as race 3, 5 and c and those collected from Chungnam Province were identified as races 1 and 5. From the total 21 populations 11 populations or 52.4% of the total were race 1; 6 populations or 28.6% of the total were race 5; 3 populations or 14.3% of the total were race 3 and one population or 4.8% of the total were race c. Soybean cyst nematode populations from the same district, at least from the same 'myeon' district were identified as same race. Of these 4, race 3 has not been recorded in Korea yet.
This study was conducted to compare the volatile components of lamina(cutter group) and midrib of flue-cured tobacco leaves by two analytical methods, Curie-Point pyrolysis and Purge & Trap headspace technique. The pyrolysis of lamina and midrib part of tobacco leaves was performed at the temperature of $330^{\circ}C$, $650^{\circ}C$, and $920^{\circ}C$ by Curie-Point Pyrolyzer, and 33 compounds were identified in the pyrolyzates by GC/MSD. The composition of the components identified showed a quite difference between lamina and midrib. However, the amount of the pyrolyzed products from the both of lamina and midrib was increased with temperature increase except that of acetic acid, furfural, and nicotine. The content of phenolic compounds including phenol, 4-methyl phenol, and 3-methyl phenol was higher in midrib than in lamina, while that of furan compounds such as 2,3-dihydrobenzofuran, 5-hydroxymethyl furfural, was high in lamina. Interestingly, acetamide, 2-propenamide and 3-acetoxy pyridine were not defected in the pyrolyzates of lamina. By Purge & Trap headspace technique, 28 volatile components were identified in both lamina and midrib. The composition of the identified compounds and their chromatograpic patterns also showed the complete difference between the two. The content of solanone, $\beta$-damascone, $\beta$-damascenone, and megastigmatrienones, key components of tobacco aroma, was much higher in lamina than in midrib. The results indicate that lamina contains much more carbonyl compounds known to enhance the smoke taste of cigarette, whereas midrib takes nitrogenous and phenolic compounds, which are known to cause a deteriorate effect of smoke such as irritation.
Most common complex traits, such as obesity, hypertension, diabetes, and cancers, are known to be associated with multiple genes, environmental factors, and their epistasis. Recently, the development of advanced genotyping technologies has allowed us to perform genome-wide association studies (GWASs). For detecting the effects of multiple genes on complex traits, many approaches have been proposed for GWASs. Multifactor dimensionality reduction (MDR) is one of the powerful and efficient methods for detecting high-order gene-gene ($G{\times}G$) interactions. However, the biological interpretation of $G{\times}G$ interactions identified by MDR analysis is not easy. In order to aid the interpretation of MDR results, we propose a network graph analysis to elucidate the meaning of identified $G{\times}G$ interactions. The proposed network graph analysis consists of three steps. The first step is for performing $G{\times}G$ interaction analysis using MDR analysis. The second step is to draw the network graph using the MDR result. The third step is to provide biological evidence of the identified $G{\times}G$ interaction using external biological databases. The proposed method was applied to Korean Association Resource (KARE) data, containing 8838 individuals with 327,632 single-nucleotide polymorphisms, in order to perform $G{\times}G$ interaction analysis of body mass index (BMI). Our network graph analysis successfully showed that many identified $G{\times}G$ interactions have known biological evidence related to BMI. We expect that our network graph analysis will be helpful to interpret the biological meaning of $G{\times}G$ interactions.
The aim of this study was to investigate the patterns of the elementary school students' interests to animals and plants based on affinity toward animals and plants, and curiosity about animals and plants by using a cluster analysis. In addition, the differences of the big five personality traits by the identified clusters was examined. A total number of 411 elementary school students participated in the study. The students were clustered into four distinct interest groups with respect to the level of interests to animals and plants. Cluster 1 'Developed Interest to Organisms group' showed high levels in the interest to both animals and plants. Cluster 2 'Developed Interest to Animals group' showed high interest to animals and relatively low interest to plants whereas cluster 3 'Developed Interest to Plants group' showed high interest to plants and relatively low interest to animals. Lastly, cluster 4 were identified as 'Lack of Interest to Organisms group' by showing low levels of interest to both animals and plants. The four identified groups also showed different distributions of students according to gender and school year. These results support gender difference in the interest to animals and plants and suggest the decreased and specialized interest with school year. The Big Five personality traits excluding neuroticism were positively related with the interest to organisms and the identified groups showed significant differences in the traits. These findings indicate that agreeableness, conscientiousness, extraversion, and openness can be significant predictors of the interests to animals and plants.
