Photometric Properties and Spatial Distribution of RSGs of Nearby Galaxy System: Leo Triplet

  • We present the near infrared JHK photometric properties and the spatial distribution of red supergiants(RSGs) of NGC 3623, NGC 3627 and NGC 3628 in the Leo Triplet system using the data obtained with 3.8m UKIRT(United Kingdom Infra-Red Telescope) at Hawaii. We checked interaction between the three galaxies by making a spatial density map of RSGs. From (J-K,K)0 Color-Magnitude Diagram which include resolved stars in three galaxy and control field with PARSEC isochrone, we figured out the RSG candidates of the Leo triplet are at 0.9<(J-K)0<1.2, mK<17.5 and separated them from background and foreground sources. Using gaussian kernel density estimation, we drew spatial density map of RSGs in the Leo triplet with an assumption that all RSGs are an identical population. The density map shows extended features of NGC 3628 to NGC 3627 along the declination direction. The asymmetries between NGC 3627 and NGC 3628 might be evidence for that the distribution of actual star components(RSGs) follows the neutral hydrogen distribution and also for interaction between two galaxies. And the extended features along the right ascension direction might be a supporting evidence for the existence of a TDG(Tidal Dwarf Galaxy). In case of NGC 3623, we could not see any sign of interaction in density map.

Ungrounded System Fault Section Detection Method by Comparison of Phase Angle of Zero-Sequence Current

  • In this paper, an integrated fault section detection and isolation strategy is proposed based on the application of the Distribution Automation System(DAS) utilizing advanced IT and communication technologies. The Feeder Remote Terminal Unit(FRTU) has been widely used to collect data in the Korean distribution system. The achieved data is adopted in this method for detecting multiple fault types. Especially in the case of single phase-to-ground fault, the fault section is detected by comparison of the zero-sequence current phase angle. The test results have verified the effectiveness of the proposed method in a radial distribution system through extensive simulations in Matlab/Simulink. Furthermore, a communication-based demo system identical to the simulation model has been developed, and it can be applied as an online monitoring and control program for fault section detection and isolation.

  • 신용평가모형 개발과 적합성 검정 연구에서 부도율분포로부터 부도기업과 정상기업의 판별력을 검정하는 방법으로 비모수적인 방법인 Kolmogorov-Smirnov(K-S) 검정방법을 많이 사용한다. 모집단에 대한 누적분포함수를 알고있으며 이 분포함수가 두 개의 분포함수로 분할되었다는 가정하에서 두 분포함수 동일성을 검정하는 신용평가 연구에서 스코어 또는 부도율이 다양한 확률분포를 따른다고 가정하고 기존의 K-S 통계량과 수정된 K-S 통계량을 비교 토론한다.

ESTIMATION OF RELIABILITY IN A MULTICOMPONENT STRESS-STRENGTH MODEL IN WEIBULL CASE

  • 동일한 부품 K개를 갖고 있으며, 그 중에서 S개 이상의 스트렝스(strength)가 스트레스(stress) 보다 크게 될 경우 신뢰성이 유지되는 시스템에서 스트레스와 스트렝스가 모두 와이블(weibull) 분포를 하고 있을 때의 시스템 신뢰성을 고찰하였다. 2 절에서는 시스템 신뢰성의 최소분산불편추정량(MVU estimator)을 구하였고, 3 절에서는 최소분산불편추정량의 점근분포(asymototic distribution)를 구하고 표본크기가 클때 시스템 신뢰성의 최소분산불편추정량과 최우추정량(MLE)과의 관계를 구하였으며, 4 절에서는 시스템 신뢰성의 일양최적불편신뢰구간(uniformly most accurate unbiased confidence interval) 을 구하였고, 5 절에서는 몬데 카를로 씨뮤레이션(Monte Carlo Simulation)을 사용하여 작은 표본에서의 최우추정량과 최소분산불편추정량의 편기(bias)와 평균자승오차(MSE)를 비교하였고 6 절에서는 결과를 간단히 요약하고 본 논문을 더 확장할 경우에 문제점을 제시하였다.

유한요소법을 이용한 원통체의 점탄성 응력 해석 (Viscoelastic Stress Analysis of Adhesive-bonded Cylindrical by FEM)

  • 연구목적: 본 논문에서 접착제로 접착된 원통형 랩 접합부는 피착체가 탄성이고, 접착제가 선형 점탄성이라고 가정한다. 연구방법: 피착제의 응력 분포는 유한요소법을 사용하며, 4개의 아이소파라메터 점탄성 고체 접착제를 통해 피착제에 대한 해석결과를 검증한다. 연구결과: 접착층에서의 시간에 대한 응력분포와 피착제의 두께와 탄성율이 규격화에 미치는 응력의 영향을 검토한다. 결론: 본 연구는 접착제층의 점탄성을 고려한 랩접착된 원통체의 접착제층의 응력분포에 대해서 4요소 탄성체 모델을 사용하여 수치해석을 하였다.

대기 중 다환방향족 탄화수소의 측정을 위한 시료포집방법의 비교평가 (Evaluation of Sampling Methodology for the Measurement of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons in the Atmosphere)

  • This study was carried out to investigate the influence of different sampling methods on the measured concentrations of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) both in the vapor and particulate phases, and to evaluate the effects of ambient temperature and sampling duration on the losses of PAH associated with particle samples due to volatilization. The experimental protocol of this study is consisted of two parts. The first part is related to the comparison of PAH concentrations measured by 4 different sampling systems, each of which involves different sampling principles for comparison purposes, including a medium-volume sampler with XAD-2 adsorbent, a high-volume sampler with polyurethane foam (PUF), two identical low-volume samplers: one with XAD-2 and the other with PUF, respectively. The second part of this study is to quantitatively estimate the losses of particulate PAH samples by volatilization during sampling, using two identical low-volume samplers: one was used for changing the filters every 3 hrs, 6 hrs, 12 hrs, and 24 hrs sampling, while the other was maintained for continuous 48 hours sampling without changing the filter. The concentrations of volatile PAH including 2-3 rings appeared to be significantly affected by the type of adsorbent. Measured levels of these lower-molecular weight PAH by XAD-2 adsorbent were much higher than those by PUF for both high-volume and low-volume sampling. PUF was found to give rise to unknown components that interfered with the PAH analysis, even after extensive clean-up. In addition, the retention efficiency of PUF for lower molecular weight PAH was subject to a large variation, being significantly influenced by sampling conditions such as ambient temperature. However, the effect of sampling methods with different adsorbents on the measured levels of semi-volatile compounds including 4 rings PAH such as fluoranthene, pyrene, BaA and chrysene, was not so much significant as more volatile PAH compounds. It was also clear from this study that volatilization losses of the semi-volatile PAH collected on the filters were inevitably occurred during prolonged sampling, and hence the results obtained from conventional sampling methods may not be expected to yield an accurate distribution of PAH between the vapor and particulate phases.

Distribution and Bionomics of the Argentine Ant Linepithema humile (Mayr) (Hymenoptera: Formicidae: Dolichoderinae)

  • In this study, the distribution, bait preference, hosts, symbionts, habitat status, and cytochrome c oxidase subunit-I sequences of the ant Linepithema humile were analyzed. This species habitat comprised approximately 1.5 km along stone crevices, flower gardens, roadsides, and container yards in the vicinity of Busan station, Korea. Feeding activity of this species was confirmed in 9 species of 7 families of plants. Which was approximately 14% of total flora (63 species of 37 families) in the studied area. Particularly, it was observed that Dendranthema indicum and Camellia japonica were the most frequently visited. Further, we verified that they interacted with four species of aphids. We identified 22 species of ants (17 genera, 4 subfamilies) inhabiting the Busan station area, including L. humile, Tetramorium tsushimae, Nylanderia flavipes and the alien species Paratrechina longicornis. In areas where L. humile was the dominant species, the habitat of local native ants was reduced by approximately 30%. Bait preference was ranked in the following order: jelly, water with glucose (25%), and yogurt, with the highest preference for baits containing sugar and protein. The 630-bp cytochrome c oxidase subunit-I sequences of the local L. humile populations were 99% identical to those of L. humile in the National Center for Biotechnology Information database, and the Argentine ants that invaded Korea had a sequence identical to that of other invasive populations from China, Japan, and New Zealand. As L. humile rapidly increases due to domestic adaptation, continuous monitoring and control strategy for eradication are needed to protect domestic biodiversity.

확률적 평행에 토대를 둔 Work-to-Home 통행배분모형 연구 (A Study on Work-to-Home Trip Distribution Models Based on A Stochastic Equilibrium: A Consumer Welfare Approach)

  • The major concern of this paper is to investigate the properties of a stochastic equilibrium for each model system in terms of a consumer welfare measure. The primary assumption for this study is that a trip-maker would choose the trip from his origin zone which maximizes his personal welfare. This assumption, finally, leads to a singly constrained gravity model. The consumer welfare measure is derived from the concept of expected welfare of randomly sampled trip-makers. Each of the four different models considered in this paper is differentiated depending on the complexity of its model or the definition of its travel function. In this study, three different regions are chosen for the purpose of taking into account the effects of different zone-systems on the properties of a stochastic equilibrium : (i) Archerville region (5 zone) ; (ii) San Francisco Bay regions (30 zones) ; (iii) Houston, TX region (199 zones). It is concluded that almost identical, "global" consumer welfare values can be obtained in some cases of the gravity-type trip distribution models based on a stochastic equilibrium.

저항점용접(抵抗點熔接)에 따른 과도적(過渡的) 냉각(冷却) 온도이력(溫度履歷) (Transient Temperature Drstributions in a Adiabatic Plate Due to Resistance Spot Welding)

  • As the technique of resistance spot welding became more and more advanced the factors hitherto considered secondary become more and more important. Among these factors the distribution of heat and temperature during resistance spot welding is particularly important in conjunction with thermal stress, strain and residual stress, strain problems. The analytical investigations upon the transient temperature due to resistance spot welding were made for the carbon steel plate and aluminum alloy plate. The numerical values obtained by the analytical investigation are nearly identical with the temperature distribution which obtained by D.J. Sullivan and some other experimental data. It was thought therefore useful to estimate the heat effect upon the material such as a residual stress and strain, metalurgical change, change in physical properties and etc.

실리콘 단결정내의 grown-in 결함 분포에 관한 고찰 (Investigation of growth-in defects distribution in Si single crystal)

  • 초크랄스키로 성장한 Si 단결정에서 결정 성장 속도를 달리한 sample을 이용하여 COP, FPD 및 LSTD등의 grown-in 결함 밀도와 한 웨이퍼 내에서의 분포를 정확하게 측정하여 이들 결함들간의 상호 관계를 고찰하였다. 이들 결함의 밀도와 한 웨이퍼 내에 발생하는 영역의 크기는 결정 성장 속도가 빠를수록 증가하였다. 또한 한 웨이퍼 내에서 이들 결함의 발생 영역이 일치하는 것으로 보아 이들 결함은 동일한 origin에 의해 생성된 것으로 판단된다.
