  • A fundamental study on the harvest-type ice storage system applied ice making method in-water and its temperature characteristics in ice storage system was performed experimentally of the charge and discharge of cold. This paper is concerned with the development of a new method for making and separating ice and saving floated ice by installing an evaporation plate at in-water within a storage tank. In a conventional harvest-type ice storage system, a tank saves ice by separating a formed ice from an installed evaporation plate, which is located above an ice storage tank as an ice storage system. A new harvest-type method shows very good heat transfer efficiency than a convectional method. It is because the evaporation panel is directly contacted with water in a storage tank. Also, at a conventional system a circulating pump, a circulating water distributor and a piping are installed, but these components are not necessary in a new method. In this study two kinds of ice storage systems are experimentally investigated to study the thermal characteristics of ice storage tanks.

소형 슬러시 제조기 증발기에서 슬러시 형성시 전열 특성 (Heat Transfer Characteristics During Slush Formation in the Evaporator of a Small Slush Maker)

  • Tests were conducted to obtain heat transfer coefficients during slush formation from 10% sucrose solution. The slush was made by scraping the ice formed on the cylinder. Cold brine was supplied inside of the evaporator cylinder to cool the outer surface. Below a certain brine temperature, which was $-5^{\circ}C$ in this study, the solution was supercooled, and suddenly turned into ice crystals. During slush formation, the heat transfer coefficient oscillated significantly, due to periodic removal of ice chunk form the surface. The average heat transfer coefficient during slush formation was 40~70% higher than that obtained during single phase cooling. The heat transfer coefficient was also affected by the brine temperature with increasing heat transfer coefficient at higher brine temperature.

  • 소프트 아이스크림은 환형 증발부의 외측에서 증발하는 R-404A에 의해 형성된 얼음을 스크레이퍼로 깍아내어 제조된다. 본 연구에서는 소프트 아이스크림 증발기의 냉매 측 및 아이스크림 측 열전달계수를 도출하였다. 실험 결과 환형부 내 냉매 유동은 격막에 의해 매우 복잡한 양상을 보이고 열전달계수도 위치에 따라 현저히 달랐다. 즉, 유입위치의 열전달 계수가 다른 부분에 비하여 낮게 나타났다. 냉매측 평균 열전달계수는 열유속의 증가에 따라 또한 포화온도의 감소에 따라 증가하였다. 열유속과 포화온도를 변수로 하여 평균 열전달계수를 예측하는 상관식을 도출하였다. 아이스크림 측 열전달계수는 연속적으로 진동하였다. 이는 스크레이퍼에 의해 관벽의 얼음이 주기적으로 탈착되기 때문으로 판단된다. 아이스크림 원액의 단상 열전달계수는 냉각 기간 중 150 W/$m^2K$에서 250 W/$m^2K$로 증가하였다. 아이스크림 제조 시 열전달계수는 대략 280 W/$m^2K$로 나타났다.

  • 아이스크림제조기는 원액통과 냉각통의 증발온도가 $4^{\circ}C$$-8^{\circ}C$로 각각 다르므로 다수의 모세관을 이용하는데 이 경우 서로 냉매 유량에 영향을 주므로 냉동사이클 설계가 복잡하다. 본 연구에서는 증발온도가 서로 다른 두개의 증발기(냉장 및 냉동)가 장착된 소프트 아이스크림 제조기의 성능을 해석하였다. 압축기 해석에는 효율모델을 적용하였고, 모세관은 1차원 유동으로 간주하여 해석하였으며, 응축기와 증발기는 UA-LMTD법을 적용하여 해석하였다. 요소부품에서의 엔탈피, 압력 및 질량의 평형을 적용하여 냉동사이클 시뮬레이션 프로그램을 개발하였고 R404A를 사용하는 아이스크림 제조기에 적용한 결과, 냉장과 냉동 증발기의 온도를 $3^{\circ}C$ 이내로 예측하여 측정치와 대체로 일치하였다.

냉매 과냉각 시스템을 이용한 열펌프의 성능향상에 관한 연구 (Performance Enhancement of the Heat Pump Using the Refrigerant Subcooling System)

  • The performance characteristics of heat pump system using the new refrigerant subcooling system were investigated. The new heat pump system has the ice storage tank to accumulate the latent heat of the refrigerant during the night-time. The heat is released to subcool the saturated refrigerant liquid at the outlet of a condenser in the daytime. The experimental apparatus is a well-instrumented heat pump which consisted of a refrigerant loop and a coolant loop. The test sections(condenser and evaporator) were made of tube-in-tube heat exchanger with the horizontal copper tube of 12.7[mm] outer diameter and 9.5[mm] inner diameter. The evaporating temperatures ranged from $-5[^{\circ}C]$ to $0[^{\circ}C]$ and the subcooling degrees of the refrigerant varied from $15[^{\circ}C]$ to $25[^{\circ}C]$. The test of the ice storage was carried out at evaporating temperature of $-10[^{\circ}C]$ and the ice storage mode is an ice-on-coil type. The main results were summarized as follows ; The refrigerant mass flow rate and compressor shaft power of the heat pump system were independent of the subcooling degrees. The cooling capacity o the heat pump system increases as the evaporating temperature and subcooling degree increases. The cooling capacity of the heat pump system is about 25 to 30% higher than that of normal heat pump system. The COP of the heat pump system which subcooled the refrigerant liquid at the outlet of the condenser is about 28% higher than that of the normal heat pump system.

MF증발기 채널관 주위의 결빙현상에 대한 해석적 연구 (Numerical Analysis of Freezing Phenomena of Water around the Channel Tube of MF Evaporator)

  • In this study, the process of freezing around two consecutively arranged channel tubes used for evaporator heat exchange was numerically investigated. Numerical results confirmed that the vortex occurred between the front channel and the rear channel and also that the vortex occurred due to the rapid change of the channel at the rear of the rear channel. These vortices were found to play a role in reducing the ice layer to some extent by the growth of the ice layer at the front and rear of the channel tube. The freezing layer showed a tendency to gradually increase as it passed through the channel pipe. As the wall temperature in the channel pipe decreased, the thickness of the freezing layer increased. As the flow rate of water slowed, the thickness of the freezing layer became thicker. In particular, in the case of a slow flow rate of 0.03 m/s, the freezing layers of the front channel pipe and the rear channel pipe were connected to each other. The narrower the channel, the thinner the freezing layer was in both the front and rear channel tubes. It is found that these thin freezing layers are caused by the low thickness of the temperature boundary layer formed around the channel tube.

소프트 아이스크림 제조기 증발기의 스크레이퍼 회전수 최적화 및 냉매 유로 개선 (Optimization of the Scraper Speed and Improvement of the Refrigerant Path for the Evaporator of the Soft Ice Cream Machine)

  • 최근 들어 국민 식생활 문화가 개선되고 생활수준이 향상됨에 따라 소프트 아이스크림, 슬러시와 같은 일회용 냉동 유제품의 소비가 급증하고 있다. 이들 냉동 유제품은 소형 냉동 시스템에서 만들어진다. 소프트 아이스크림 제조기의 경우 냉각기는 동심 원통으로 구성되며 냉매는 환형부에서 증발하고 냉각기 표면에 형성된 얼음 결정이 내측에서 회전하는 스크레이퍼에 의해 빙삭되어 아이스크림이 만들어진다. 본 연구에서는 냉각기 체적 2.8 리터인 R-404A를 사용하는 소프트 아이스크림 제조기에 대하여 최적화와 성능평가를 수행하였다. 최적화는 냉각기 스크레이퍼 회전수 및 냉매 유로 개선에 주안점을 두고 실제 아이스크림 제조기에서 요소 부위의 온도와 압력 그리고 소비동력을 측정함으로써 수행되었다. 실험 결과 최적 회전수는 124 rpm으로 나타났다. 이 회전수에서 아이스크림 제조 시간은 6분 2초이고 이 때 성적계수는 0.90이었다. 또한 물-공기를 사용한 가시화 실험을 통하여 냉매측 유로 개선을 시도하였다. 유로가 개선된 제품은 아이스크림 제조 시간을 현저히 감소시켰다. 본 연구 결과는 냉동식품 제조기를 비롯한 여타 냉동 사이클의 최적화에도 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

냉매분사식 팽창장치를 적용한 냉동기의 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Characteristics of the Refrigerator Using a Refrigerant Injection Type Expansion Device)

  • Refrigerating ability of vapor compression refrigerator is decided by the harmonic work of it's components such as compressor, condenser, evaporator, expansion device, and so on. In this study, choosing refrigerant injectors as a new one of expansion device, temperature change of the cold room, ice freezing ability, and power consumption on flowrate of injector and refrigerant charging condition are evaluated experimentally. As the results of this study, it is verified that the spray injection type refrigeration system has some merits according to the flowrate and spray pattern of injector and charging quantum of refrigerant. And there are some design factors such as spray pattern and shape of spray chamber to utilize and fabricate this refrigerant injection type refrigerator.

열원수 온도에 따른 만액식 해수냉각시스템의 성능 비교 (Performance Comparison of Flooded Seawater Cooling System with respect to Heat Sink Temperature)

  • A fleet consists of a main vessel, light vessels and carrying vessels for purse seine fishery. Carrying vessels contains fish storages to maintain freshness of catches. Currently most carrying vessels applies the cooling system using plain ice though accompanied various shortcomings. Seawater cooling system directly chilling seawater are now in use on carrying vessels in some developed countries to make up for these shortcomings and maximize advantages. This research deals with necessity of seawater cooling systems and establishes system criteria using Aspentech HYSYS program, prior to an experiment of compact-scale seawater cooling system which now in progress of manufacture. Performance comparison on condensation capacity, mass flow rate of working fluid, compressor power input, pump power input and others of the seawater cooling system applying a flooded evaporator is conducted with respect to the temperature of surface seawater varying according to seasons. The result presents that mass flow rate circulating the system is increased about 16.7% as the temperature of surface seawater increases. At the same condition, condensation capacity and compressor input work also increase about 9.8% and 91.2%, respectively.
