A three phase fluidized bed bioreactor immobilized with Thiobacillus sp. IW was tested to remove hydrogen sulfide and methylmercaptan with high loading rate. In a single gas treatment, the bioreactor removed 92- 98% of hydrogen sulfide with loading rate of 15- 66 g/l/h and removed 87-98% of methylmercaptan with loading rate of 14-60 gl/sup -1/h/sup -1/. In the mixed gas treatment, the removal efficiencies of hydrogen sulfide and methylmercaptan maintained at 89-99% for various inlet loading rates and were not affected by the inlet loading ratio of both gases in low loading rates. When the inlet concentration of methylmercaptan increased 3.8 times and was maintained for 30 h to observe the response of the bioreactor to sudden environmental change, the removal efficiency of methylmercaptan was maintained at an average of 91%.

Polymerized vesicles were prepared from monomeric cholesterol-containing surfactant. These vesicles were used to extract the free cholesterol. To introduce spacer group into [cholesteryloxycarbonylmethyl] [2-(methacryloyloxy)ethyl]dimethylammonium chloride (CHODAMA), [5-[ (cholesteryloxy)carbonyl]pentyl] [2-(methacryloyloxy)ethyl]dimethylammonium bromide (CHODAMA-5) and [10-[(cholesteryloxy)carbonyl]decyl] [2-(methacryloyloxy)ethyl]dimethylammonium bromide (CHODAMA-10) were synthesized, In both case of polymerized vesicle with CHODAMA-5 and CHODAMA-10, the permeability was decreased and the amount of extracted cholesterol was also decreased, compared with the polymerized vesicle of CHODAMA.
The fluid mechanics and heat transfer of surfactant turbulent pipe flows are characterized with particular emphasis on the effects of surfactant concentration and solution temperature on drag reduction and heat transfer reduction. The test fluids are the surfactant solutions of DR-IW616 supplied by Akzo Nobel Chemical in concentration of $100{\sim}3000ppm$. The solution temperatures studied are $5^{\circ}C$ to $50^{\circ}C$. The critical values of surfactant concentration and solution temperature are clearly identified for drag reduction phenomena.
In this paper, we study the characterizations of two-sided best simultaneous approximations for ℓ-tuple subset from a closed convex subset of ℝm with ℓm1(w)-norm. Main fact is, k* is a two-sided best simultaneous approximation to F from K if and only if there exist f1, …, fp in F, for any k ∈ K $${\mid}{\sum\limits_{i=1}^{m}}sgn(f_{ji}-k^*_i)k_iw_i{\mid}{\leq}\;{\sum\limits_{i{\in}Z(f_j-k^*)}}\;{\mid}k_i{\mid}w_i$$ for each j = 1, …, p and 𝐰 ∈ W.
It has been well documented that white egg layers are far more resistant to fowl typhoid than the brown egg layers. In Korea, however, most consumers prefer brown eggs to white ones. Therefore, a study was conducted to Produce fowl typhoid-resistant crossbred layers producing somewhat brown-colored eggs. Several crossbred strains were obtained from crossbreeding white egg lines (W) with brown egg lines (B). These crossbred layers (W${\times}$B) produced eggs with varying degrees of brown-colored shells between the white eggs obtained from W (White) and the brown eggs from B (Brown). Eggs from the peak stage of production were collected and their eggshell color values were measured. The mean eggshell color values of White and Brown were 81.9 and 36.4, respectively. Eggs from the crossbred lines (W${\times}$B) were collected, and their eggshell color values were measured to re-group these eggs according to their color. The mean eggshell color values of Trt-White, Middle, and Trt-Brown were 70, 60, and 50, respectively (Fig. 1). A total of 247 people living in Daejeon area, mainly housewives, took part in this survey. First, they were offered eggs with varying degrees of eggshell color in a paper egg-tray, together with a questionnaire. After they filled out the first questionnaire, they were instructed that the eggshell color has nothing to do with its nutritive value. In the second questionnaire, their preference on both eggshell color and price, i.e., purchasing will, were investigated. In the first questionnaire, the Brown (eggshell color lightness 36.4) were most preferred, and the Trt-white (eggshell color lightness 70) were least preferred. No statistical significance was detected between Brown and Trt-Brown, and White and Trt-White. In the second questionnaire, the trend was the same as in the first. Although no significant difference was found between Trt-Brown and Brown, however, the Trt-Brown were most preferred, surpassing the Brown. In conclusion, regardless of the nutritive values, the Korean consumers prefer brown eggs to white ones, and this trend could be changed gradually through consumer education.

The purpose of this study was to develop the brain compatibility index equation for the brain-based analysis method of science teaching-learning program. To develop the index equation, one sample unit in middle school science programs was selected and analyzed by the brain-based analysis frame (CORE Brain Map). Then, the index equation was derived by the CORE Brain Map. In addition, four sample units in elementary science programs were selected to validate the brain compatibleness index equation. From the random network theory of Erdos and Renyi, this study derived the brain compatibility index equation; (BCI=$\frac{L_o}{11(N_o-1)}{\cdot}{\sum}\limits_{i=1}^4l_iw_i$) for quantitative analysis of science teaching-learning program. With this equation, this study could find the quantitative difference among the teaching-learning programs through the unit and curriculum. Brain-based analysis methods for the qualitative and quantitative analysis of science teaching-learning program, which was developed in this study is expected, to be a useful application to analyze and diagnose various science teaching-learning programs.

This paper is a bibliographic analysis on printed books of $M\grave{e}ngz\check{i}$(孟子) in Choseon Dynasty. Through examination of the physical characteristics of books in many institutes and private collections, $M\grave{e}ngz\check{i}j\acute{i}zh\grave{u}d\grave{a}q\acute{a}n$(孟子集註大全)was systematically explored, which was the most frequently published $M\grave{e}ngz\check{i}$(孟子) in Choseon Dynasty. $M\grave{e}ngz\check{i}$(孟子) was published mainly in Kyungki and Kyungsang provinces, and in the period of 17C to 19C. There are two streams of $M\grave{e}ngz\check{i}j\acute{i}zh\grave{u}d\grave{a}q\acute{a}n$. One is the series of the reprinted edition of $M\acute{i}ngbon$(明本覆刻), originated from Saseookyungdaejun(四書五經大全), compiled by Hokwang(湖廣) and colleagues in $M\acute{i}ng$(明). The second is the series of Chungyuja books(丁酉字本) among movable type books of Choseon(朝鮮活字本), the contents of which being the same as the other stream. Also, $M\grave{e}ngz\check{i}d\grave{a}iw\acute{e}n$(孟予大文) and $M\grave{e}ngz\check{i}zh\grave{e}ngw\acute{e}n$(孟子正文) are frequently published.
In this paper, we develop an Intelligent Wheelchair(IW) control system for the people with various disabilities. The aim of the proposed system is to increase the mobility of severely handicapped people by providing an adaptable and effective interface for a power wheelchair. To facilitate a wide variety of user abilities, the proposed system involves the use of face-inclination and mouth-shape information, where the direction of an Intelligent Wheelchair(IW) is determined by the inclination of the user's face, while proceeding and stopping are determined by the shape of the user's mouth. To analyze these gestures, our system consists of facial feature detector, facial feature recognizer, and converter. In the stage of facial feature detector, the facial region of the intended user is first obtained using Adaboost, thereafter the mouth region detected based on edge information. The extracted features are sent to the facial feature recognizer, which recognize the face inclination and mouth shape using statistical analysis and K-means clustering, respectively. These recognition results are then delivered to a converter to control the wheelchair. When assessing the effectiveness of the proposed system with 34 users unable to utilize a standard joystick, the results showed that the proposed system provided a friendly and convenient interface.
Both strains of KD-1212 and DAH-1056 were isolated and identified from animal manure-contaminated soil by screening bacterial strains for the removal of sulfur compound-malodor with such substrate as sodium thiosulfate or free sulfur. Then the characteristics on the incubation of these microbes were observed under various incubating-condition such as pH, temperature, aerobic or anaerobic, substrate(sulfur compound) concentration, nitrogen and carbon source and rotating speed for mixing, and the optimum incubating condition was established. The optimum pHs of KD-1212 and DAH-1056 were 7.0 and 4.0, respectively, and their optimum temperatures were in the range of $30{\sim}35^{\circ}C$. Another autotrophic strain, ED-1138, was isolated from contaminated soil. The strain DAH-1056 excelled a strain Thiobacillus sp. IW in eliminating hydrogen sulfide during the process of malodor-biofiltration with a fixed strain. The characteristics on the incubation of strain KD-1212 were observed under various substrate-concentrations, nitrogen and carbon sources. KD-1212 favored glucose and maltose, and yeast extract as carbon sources and nitrogen source, respectively. The optimum concentrations of substrate and nitrogen source were 25 mM of sodium thiosulfate and 0.5% yeast extract, respectively for the growth of strain KD-1212.
