Purpose: In the autologous fat injection, the centrifugation is useful for the refinement of harvested fat. As it can be an injury to the fat cell, we studied the fat cell viability with the change of centrifugation velocity and centrifugation time in order to get the limits of centrifugation velocity and centrifugation time. Methods: We used the Colman System in 8 patients. We handled the control group with no centrifugation, group I with the centrifugation with 1500rpm for 1 minute, group II with 1500 rpm for 3 minutes, group III with 1500rpm for 5 minutes, group IV with 3000rpm for 1 minute, group V with 3000rpm for 3 minutes, group VI with 3000rpm for 5 minutes, group VII with 5000rpm for 1 minute, group VIII with 5000rpm for 3 minutes, group IX with 5000rpm for 5 minutes. We used the collagenase to separate the fat tissue. We had evaluated the fat cell viability by checking survival cell counts. Results: There was no significance in group I, II, IV, V, but there was significant difference in group III, VI, VII, VIII, IX. Conclusion: The centrifugation with 3000rpm for 3 minutes is recommendable.
This study was conducted to investigate the ratios of phosphorus release to COD uptake, phosphorus release to nitrate removal, and phosphorus uptake to phosphorus release by DNPAOs(denitrifying phosphate accumulating organisms). In case $I{\sim}IV$, influent 1 were fed with synthetic wastewater with influent 2 $NO_3^--N$ injection to anoxic zone and the case V were fed with municipal wastewater with side stream oxic zone instead of influent 2 $NO_3^--N$ injection. As a result, the ratio of phosphorus release to carbon uptake was increased in accordance with nitrate supply. The DNPAOs simultaneously took up phosphate and removed nitrate from the anoxic reactor. In case $I{\sim}IV$, with above 20 mg/L of sufficient $NO_3^--N$ supply, phosphate was taken up excessively by the DNPAOs in anoxic condition. The large amount of both uptake and release of phosphorus occurred above 20 mg/L of nitrate supply, achieving the ratio of phosphorus uptake to phosphorus release to be 1.05. In case V, phosphate luxury uptake was not occurred in system due to 6.98 mg/L of insufficient $NO_3^--N$ supply and the ratio of phosphorus uptake to phosphorus release was 0.98. Consequently, if nitrate as the electron acceptor was sufficient in anoxic zone, the ratio was found to be high.
A water-soluble DDB derivative (Bis{2-(methylamino)ethyl}-4,4-dimethoxy-5,5',6,6'-dimethylenedioxy-biphenyl-2,2'-dicarboxylate, DDB-S) was synthesized and its therapeutic effects on the liver damage induced by carbon tetrachloride in rats were evaluated. Oral administration of DDB-S reduced the aspartate aminotransferase(AST) and alanine aminotransferase(ALT) activities and increased total protein and albumin contents in the serum of the carbon tetrachloride intoxicated rat. Therapeutic effects of DDB-S by intravenous injection was also investigated using carbon tetrachloride intoxicated rats. Histological studies showed that IV injection of DDB-S had improved the typical necrosis around centrilobular area in liver tissue due to the carbon tetrachloride intoxication and also prevented the elevation of liver weigh/body weight ratio. IV administration of DDB-S to $CCl_4-treated$ rats significantly decreased AST & ALT activities and also prevented the decrease of aniline hydroxylation activity of the liver. These results indicate that i.v. administration of DDB-S is very effective in recovering the liver function in $CCl_4-treated$ rats.

This paper is about developing an intravenous injection management system that can provide nurses with information related to intravenous injection in real-time to compensate for possible instability factors during intravenous injection. The intravenous injection management system consists of an app-based user S/W and a web-based administrator S/W. User S/W is implemented to provide users with the ability to identify patients who need intravenous injection through smartphones, tablet PCs, and nursing PDAs, recognize information codes given to patients, and enter and share treatment contents and treatment items after intravenous injection. As a result of intravenous injection treatment uploaded through the user app, the manager S/W can check the records of intravenous injection treatment items, perform user management functions, emergency notification registration and management functions, and data upload functions. The implemented system has not yet been tested on the EMR system used in the actual hospital. Therefore, through further research, S/W will be optimized and actual environmental application tests will be conducted through cooperation with hospitals.
The cardiopulmonary and antagonistic effects of atipamezole, to medetomidine (30 ug/kg, IM)-tiletamine/zolazepam (10 mg/kg, IV) were determined. Twelve healthy mongrel dogs ,(4.00$\pm$0.53 kg, mean$\pm$SD) were randomly assigned to the four experimental groups (control, A30; atipamezole 30 ug/kg, A60; atipamezole 60 ug/kg, A150; atipamezole 150 ug/kg) with 3 dogs in each group. Atropine (0.03 mg/kg, IM), medetomidine, and tiletamine/zolazepam (TZ) were injected 10 minute intervals. Atipamezole was injected intravenously 15 minutes after TZ injection. Mean arousal time (MAT) was 52.50$\pm$4.98, 43.06$\pm$2.60, 32.83$\pm$8.13, and 14.36$\pm$1.60 minutes in control, A30, A60, and Al50 groups respectively. In Al50 group, MAT was significantly reduced (P < 0.05). but mean walking time (MWT) was similar to that in control group. In recovery period, the higher doses of atimapezole, the rougher recovery including head rocking, hypersalivation, and muscle twitching. Five of twelve dogs vomited within 5 minutes after medetomidine injection. In Control group, heart rate significantly decreased in all recording stages except 15 minutes after TZ injection, 10 minutes after medetomidine injection in all groups, and 40 minutes after atipamezole injection in A30 group (P < 0.05). In Al50 group, atipamezole reversed the respiratory depression induced by medetomidine. Arterial blood pressure was significantly decreased 10minutes after medetomidine injection and 15 minutes after TZ injection in almost dogs in this study (P < 0.05). From 10 minutes after atipamezole injection to arousal time, arterial blood pressure was progressively increased in A60 and A150 group. Any value of blood gas analysis and CBC, and serum chemistry values were not significantly changed except pH of Al50 at 10 minutes after medetomidine injection. As shown in present study, atipamezole(150 ug/kg) is considered to exert a useful reversal effect in dogs anesthetized with medetomidine-tiletamine/zolazepam combination.

Characteristics of twin spray ejected from two swirl spray nozzles were studied experimentally. By using a patternator for measuring volumetric flux of drop flow at various locations inside the spray, variation of the twin spray pattern along the axial direction was studied with changing the injection pressure and the distance between the nozzles. The general findings from the experiments are as follows: (i) as axial distance from the nozzles increases, the spray pattern in x-z plane which contains both nozzles changes significantly. On the other hand the spray pattern in y-z plane which passes the midpoint between two nozzles remains almost unchanged at outer region as axial distance and injection pressure vary; (ii) at the downstream of the twin spray with spray interaction, the maximum volumetric flux in y-z plane (q$_{max}$)$_{y}$, has tendency to become larger than that of x-z plane (q$_{max}$)$_{x}$, due to a characteristic(hollow cone shape) of the constituting swirl sprays, and this trend is pronounced at higher injection pressure since the cross-section of each single spray remains hollow at the longer axial distance from each nozzle with higher injection pressure; (iii) at a certain axial distance from the nozzles, the cross-sectional shape of the boundary of the twin spray tends to be circular similar to that of the single spray with twice the flow-rate, and that distance is not proportional to the distance between two nozzles; (iv) though there are some collisions between droplets from each nozzles of twin spray, in present experimental range, the flow pattern of gas including the entrainment effect plays the key role in spray interaction.n.ion.n.
The effects of alterations of dose of xylaznie (X) and Zoltil$\circledR$ (TZ) on canine anesthesia were examined. Experimental groups were divided into three (Group 1: X 1.1 mg/kg and TZ 10 mg/kg, Group 2: X 1.65 mg/kg and TZ 7.5 mg/kg, Group 3: X 2.2 mg/kg and TZ 5 mg/kg), and each had 5 dogs. A femoral artery was catheterized for measurement of blood pressure, and baseline value was measured. The dogs were sedated with xylazine intramuscularly, then after 10 minutes TZ were injected intravenously. Mean arterial blood pressures (MAP), duration of analgesia, mean arousal time (MAT) and mean walking time (MWT) after TZ injection were measured, and the depth of analgesia and the quality of recovery were scored. The values of MAP were recorded from the time of pre-xylazine injection to arousal. Duration of analgesia and was assessed by tail clamping test, and which were done at 10 minutes intervals after TZ injection. The decreases of MAP from 40 minutes after TZ injection were significant (p<0.05). In group 2, MAP at 20 minutes, and from 40 minutes to arousal were significantly decreased (p<0.05). In group 3, MAP were significantly decreased from 40 minutes. MAT were 62.2$\pm$9.2 minutes in group 1, 60.2$\pm$7.5 minutes in group 2, and 71.0$\pm$6.9 minutes in group 3. MAT in group 3 was significantly increased compared with group 2 (p<0.05), and the differences of MWT among each groups were not significant (p>0.05). The scores of quality of recovery were significantly lowered in group 3 compared with group 1 or group 2, which means the side effects of recovery were less occurred. Thus, it was considered that the combination X 2.2 mg/kg IM and TZ 5 mg/kg IV is more effective to surgical procedures and to prevent long and rough recovery of Zoletil anesthesia.
Background: Epidural test doses containing epinephrine are an incomplete marker for the detection of inadvertent intravascular injection. Therefore, many investigators have attempted to find a more reliable marker as an alternative to epinephrine in adult patients anesthetized with enflurane. The present study was designed to test whether two different simulated intravenous test doses of isoproterenol could be used as a reliable marker for the detection of inadvertent intravascular injection in adult patients anesthetized with $O_2-N_2O$-enflurane. Methods: Forty healthy adult patients were anesthetized with 1% end-tidal enflurane and nitrous oxide after endotracheal intubation and were randomized to one of two groups according to the dose of isoproterenol. Group 1 and 2 (n = 20 each) received 3 ml of 1.5% lidocaine with 3 and 5 g isoproterenol intravenously, respectively, to simulate an intravascularly administered test dose. Heart rate (HR) and systolic blood pressure (SBP) were measured at 20-second intervals for 4 min after injection. Results: Mean maximal HR increases were $24{\pm}17$, $35{\pm}11$ bpm (P < 0.05), mean maximal SBP increases were $14{\pm}8$, $13{\pm}9$ mmHg and mean maximal SBP decreases $20{\pm}11$, $22{\pm}9$ mmHg following the IV injection of 3, $5{\mu}g$ isoproterenol, respectively. The incidence of hypotension was similar in both groups. Isoproterenol 3 and $5{\mu}g$ produced 75%, 100% sensitivity in the HR criteria ($\geq$ 20 bpm increase) and 60%, 70% sensitivity in the SBP criteria ($\geq$ 15 mmHg), respectively. Conclusions: These results indicate that based on the HR response, the epidural test dose containing $5{\mu}g$ isoproterenol to simulate an intravascular administration is a more reliable marker than $3{\mu}g$ isoproterenol in adult healthy patients during enflurane anesthesia.

Background The forehead, which occupies about one third of the face, is one of the major determinants of a feminine or masculine look. Various methods have been used for the augmentation of the forehead using autologous fat grafts or alloplastic materials. Methylmethacrylate (MMA) is the most appropriate material for augmentation of the forehead, and we have used an injection-molding technique with MMA to achieve satisfactory results. Methods Under local anesthesia with intravenous (IV) sedation, an incision was made on the scalp and a meticulous and delicate subperiosteal dissection was then performed. MMA monomers and polymers were mixed, the dough was injected into the space created, and manual molding was performed along with direct inspection. This surgery was indicated for patients who wanted to correct an unattractive appearance by forehead augmentation. Every patient in this study visited our clinics 3 months after surgery to evaluate the results. We judged the postoperative results in terms of re-operation rates caused by the dissatisfaction of the patients and complications. Results During a 13-year period, 516 patients underwent forehead augmentation with MMA. With the injection-molding technique, the inner surface of the MMA implant is positioned close to the underlying frontal bone, which minimizes the gap between the implant and bone. The borders of the implant should be tapered sufficiently until no longer palpable or visible. Only 28 patients (5.4%) underwent a re-operation due to an undesirable postoperative appearance. Conclusions The injection-molding technique using MMA is a simple, safe, and ideal method for the augmentation of the forehead.
This study was carried out to evaluate the effects of yohimbine on medetomidine sedation. Twenty dogs were sedated with medetomidine(0.04mg/kg, IM). Twen쇼 minutes after the injection, ten dogs were injected with saline(0.1mg/, IV)for the control group and the others were injected wi yohimbine(0.1mg/kg, IV)for the experimental group. Onset, recovery time, respiratory rate, body temperature, blood chemistry, electrocardiogram(ECG) finding were recorded. The results obtained were summarized as follows; 1. Onset of the sedation was fast and favorable. 2. Recovery time was shorted significantly by yohimbine treatment(p<0.01). 3. Respiratory rates were decreased significantly, but increased to normal level after the yohimblne treatment(p<0.01). 4. Heart rates were decreased significantly; but increased to normal level after the yohimbine treatment(p<0.01). 5. Body temperatures of dogs in the experimental group revealed higher level than those of control group(p<0.01). 6. Arrythmias were observed in both groups but relieved to normal after the yohimbine treatment. 7. Blood chemistry values were not changed significantly by medetomidine and yohimbine treatment. 8. These results showed that yohimbine is an excellent antagonist of medetomidine.
