  • For a finite group G, #Cent(G) denotes the number of centralizers of its elements. A group G is called n-centralizer if #Cent(G) = n, and primitive n-centralizer if #Cent(G) = #Cent($\frac{G}{Z(G)}$) = n. The first author in [1], characterized the primitive 6-centralizer finite groups. In this paper we continue this problem and characterize the primitive 7-centralizer finite groups. We prove that a finite group G is primitive 7-centralizer if and only if $\frac{G}{Z(G)}{\simeq}D_{10}$ or R, where R is the semidirect product of a cyclic group of order 5 by a cyclic group of order 4 acting faithfully. Also, we compute #Cent(G) for some finite groups, using the structure of G modulu its center.

  • Geranylation of some synthetic and natural flavones have yielded cytotoxic products against L1210 coll; 5,2´-dihydroxy-6,7,8-trimethoxy-6´-geranyloxyflavone 4$(8.5{\mu}g/ml)$, 5,6-dihydroxy-7-gerenyloxyflavone 9$(2.3{\mu}g/ml)$. 2 has showed the same range of cytotoxicity as the starting material, 5,2´-dihydroxy-6,7,8-trimethoxy-6´-benzyloxyflavone$(17.0{\mu}g/ml)$. The cytotoxicity of 4 was lower than its starting substance, 5,2´,6´-trihydroxy-6,7,8-trimethoxyflavone $(4.5{\mu}g/ml)$. On geranylating 5,6,7-trihydroxyflavone(baicalein, $15.0{\mu}g/ml$) the cytotoxic activity has been strongly potentiated($2.3{\mu}g/ml$ of 9). The presence of at least a free hydroxy group in B-ring of Skullkapflavone II-type flavones. was essential for a high activity. A larger RD-group than methoxy in the B-ring has weakened the activity. The cytotoxicities of baicalein series could not be correlated to their structures.

  • In this paper, using a fixed point approach, the generalized Hyeres-Ulam stability of the following quadratic functional equation $f(x+y+z)+f(x+{\sigma}(y))+f(y+{\sigma}(z))+f(x+{\sigma}(z))=3(f(x)+f(y)+f(z))$ will be studied, where f is a function from abelian group G into a quasi-${\beta}$-normed space and ${\sigma}$ is an involution on the group G. Next, we consider its pexiderized equation of the form $f(x+y+z)+f(x+{\sigma}(y))+f(y+{\sigma}(z))+f(x+{\sigma}(z))=g(x)+g(y)+g(z)$ and its generalized Hyeres-Ulam stability.

  • In this study, the marker compounds of Curcumae Rhizoma (CR) were simultaneously quantified by high-performance liquid chromatography equipped with a photodiode array detector and the anti-inflammatory effects of CR extract and marker compounds in human benign prostatic hyperplasia epithelial-1 (BPH-1) cell lines were investigated. The marker components (4S,5S)-(+)-germacrone-4,5-epoxide, furanodienone, and germacrone, were separated on Gemini $C_{18}$ columns ($250mm{\times}4.6mm$, $5{\mu}m$) at $40^{\circ}C$ by using a gradient of two mobile phases eluting at 1.0 mL/min. Prostaglandin $E_2$ ($PGE_2$) levels in Human BPH-1 cells were determined with an ELISA kit. The coefficients of determination in a calibration curve of each analyte were all 0.9997. The limits of detection and quantification of the three compounds were $0.10-0.32{\mu}g/mL$ and $0.30-0.98{\mu}g/mL$, respectively. The content of three compounds, (4S,5S)-(+)-germacrone-4,5-epoxide, furanodienone, and germacrone, in the CR sample were found to be 5.79 - 5.92 mg/g, 4.72 - 4.86 mg/g, and 1.06 - 1.09 mg/g, respectively. Regarding pharmacological activity against benign prostatic hyperplasia, CR and its components significantly suppressed $PGE_2$ levels of BPH-1 cells. The established analysis method will help to improve quality assessment of CR samples and related products. In addition, CR and its components exhibit antiinflammatory activity in BPH-1 cells, suggesting the inhibitory efficacy of these compounds against the pathogenesis of BPH.

  • A reverse-phase HPLC method with detection by mass spectrometry is described for the simultaneous determination of doxifluridine and its two active metabolites, 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) and 5-fluorouridine (5-FUrd), in beagle dog plasma. The optimal chromatographic separation was achieved on a Waters $Xterra^{(R)}$ $C_{18}$ column ($4.6{\times}250\;mm$ i.d., $5\;{\mu}m$ particle size) with a mobile phase of 0.1% formic acid in a mixture of 99% methanol and purified water (99:1, v/v). The developed method was validated in beagle dog plasma with a lowest limit of quantification of $0.05\;{\mu}g/mL$ for both doxifluridine and 5-FU, and $0.2\;{\mu}g/mL$ for 5-FUrd. Doxifluridine and its two metabolites were stable under the analysis conditions, and intra- and inter-day accuracies exceeded 92.87%, with a precision variability ${\leq}11.34%$ for each analyte. Additionally, the method for quantifying doxifluridine and its two metabolites, 5-FU and 5-FUrd, in beagle dog plasma was applied successfully to the analysis of pharmacokinetic samples.

  • Traditional kakdugi prepared from salted radish by the addition of fermented shrimp or anchovy sauce along with seasonings and spices, e.g., red pepper powder, garlic or ginger, which has been examined for the formation of volatile nitrosamine(NA) during its fermentation at 5oC and 17oC. Changes of acidity were increased; while, those of ascorbic acid and pH were continually de creased and besides concentrations of salt were scarcely observed during the fermentation of kakdugi at 5oC and 17oC. High initial levels of nitrate in radish followed by a gradual decreased in nitrate concentration, along with increasing levels of nitrite, during its fermentation. During the fermentation of kakdugi, NA such as N nitrosodimethylamine(NDMA) and N nitrosodiethylamine(NDEA) was identified; these NA in kakdugi that had been prepared with shrimp sauce contained in the higher levels than kimchi that had been prepared with anchovy sauce, and both NDMA and NDEA were detected higher levels in the fermented sample at 17oC than in the fermented sample at 5oC. In kakdugi, NDMA and NDEA levels were continually increased during its fermentation; its levels after 35 days fermentation at 17oC were 0.5~16.7 and 0~5.2 g/kg in added shrimp sauce sample, 0. 5~8.7 and 0~4.7 g/kg in added anchovy sauce sample and 0.4~4.8 and 0~2.4 g/kg in control, respectively. The occurrence of NA such as NDMA and NDEA appeared to arise from the fermented sauce and radish used in preparation of the kimchi.

  • Objective: FKBP prolyl isomerase 5 (FKBP5) has been shown to play an important role in metabolically active tissues such as skeletal muscle. However, the expression of FKBP5 in Muscovy duck tissues and its association with body weight are still unclear. Methods: In this study, real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction was used to detect the expression of FKBP5 in different tissues of Muscovy duck at different growth stages. Further, single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) were detected in the exon region of FKBP5 and were combined analyzed with the body weight of 334 Muscovy ducks. Results: FKBP5 was highly expressed in various tissues of Muscovy duck at days 17, 19, 21, 24, and 27 of embryonic development. In addition, the expression of FKBP5 in the tissues of female adult Muscovy ducks was higher than that of male Muscovy ducks. Besides, an association analysis indicated that 3 SNPs were related to body weight trait. At the g.4819252 A>G, the body weight of AG genotype was significantly higher than that of the AA and the GG genotype. At the g.4821390 G>A, the genotype GA was extremely significantly related to body weight. At the g.4830622 T>G, the body weight of TT was significantly higher than GG and TG. Conclusion: These findings indicate the possible effects of expression levels in various tissues and the SNPs of FKBP5 on Muscovy duck body weight trait. FKBP5 could be used as molecular marker for muscle development trait using early marker-assisted selection of Muscovy ducks.

  • The amounts of organic carbon and several nutrients in litterfall on the forest floor of Quercus mongolica forest were assessed for two years from 1998 through 2000 in Mt. Songnisan National Park in Korea. The amounts of organic carbon (C) in litterfall were the highest in autumn with the values of $150.4g/m^2$ (62.6%) in 1998 and $219.2g/m^2$ (61.0%) in 1999. In winter, organic C was the lowest with the values of $16.3g/m^2$ (6.8%) in 1998 and $12.5g/m^2$ (6.7%) in 1999. It was estimated that the organic C added to forest floor via litterfall was 240.1 $g{\cdot}m^{-2}yr^{-1}$ and 186.6 $g{\cdot}m^{-2}yr^{-1}$ 1998 and 1999, respectively. The amounts of nitrogen (N) in litterfall were the highest in autumn with the values of 5.9 $g/m^2$ (58.0%) in 1998 and 5.2 $g/m^2$ (62.3%) in 1999. The amount of phosphorus (P) in litterfall showed its peak in autumn with 0.19 $g/m^2$ (52.9%) in 1998 and 0.11 $g/m^2$ (52.6%) in 1999. The amount of P returned to forest floor via litterfall was 0.35 $g{\cdot}m^{-2}yr^{-1}$ in 1998 and 0.22 $g{\cdot}m^{-2}yr^{-1}$ in 1999. The amount of potassium (K) in litterfall showed its peak in autumn with 0.57 $g/m^{2}$ (53.8%) in 1998 and 0.42 $g/m^2$ (55.3%) in 1999. The amounts of K returned to forest floor via litterfall was 1.11 $g{\cdot}m^{-2}yr^{-1}$ in 1998 and 0.81 $g{\cdot}m^{-2}yr^{-1}$ in 1999.

  • In this paper, EMI measurement, the STGU simulation being conducted, filter design, its characteristics, and its implementation to the PCB, and finally test results are discussed. When the low pass filter was implemented within the STGU, the power of EMI decreased more than 20dBm. Finally, when TE and MTIE, two important quality measure in synchronous reference clock, was assessed, ITU-T G813 requirement was satisfied. EMI(Electromagnetic Interface) is a measure of electomagnetic radiation from equipment in the range of 10KHz to 3GHz, and can cause unexpected reactions of electronics/electrical equipment. In this study, for safe and stable communication operation, a STGU (System Timing Generation Unit), which is a 2.5G SDH System and a major EMI source, was employed to simulate electromagnetic interface. Using Open-Site test, the power of fundamental frequency of EMI of interest and its harmonics were measured. Also, a low pass filter at cut-off frequency of 2GHz was specifically designed for this study to minimize the effect of EMI between electronic components.

  • This study was to isolate an active component of the chloroform fraction from the methanol extract of Ruta chalepensis leaves and to measure inhibitory effects against ${\alpha}$-glucosidase or ${\alpha}$-amylase. The inhibitory compound of R. chalepensis leaves was isolated using chromatographic methods and identified as quinoline. Quinoline and its structurally related derivatives were tested for their inhibitory activities by evaluating the $IC_{50}$ values against ${\alpha}$-amylase or ${\alpha}$-glucosidase and were compared with that of acarbose. Based on the $IC_{50}$ values, quinazoline exhibited the greatest inhibitory activity ($20.5{\mu}g/mL$), followed by acarbose ($66.5{\mu}g/mL$), and quinoline ($80.3{\mu}g/mL$) against ${\alpha}$-glucosidase. In case of ${\alpha}$-amylase, quinazoline had potent inhibitory activity, followed by quinoline ($179.5{\mu}g/mL$) and acarbose ($180.6{\mu}g/mL$). These results indicate that R. chalepensis extract, quinoline, and quinazoline could be useful for inhibiting ${\alpha}$-glucosidase or ${\alpha}$-amylase.
