  • Advanced wireless network and sensor technologies are capable of collecting information such as temperature, humidity, weight, and location about objects at real time in logistics area. Besides, users want to be notified of contextual information about interest of objects whenever they want it and wherever they want it. To satisfy these requirements, applications should collect and analyze contextual information at real time, and must support a service that can notify it to wanted users. Event-based service is one of the way to satisfy these requirement of users. In this paper, we design an event notification system focused on location- and RFID-based logistics area. To do this, we present XML-based event expression model, ECA-based profile definition model, and an algorithm that has high scalability by distinguishing event filtering in two steps. Based on these designs, our implemented system can apply to not only logistics area but also intelligent traffic control system based on RFID or GPS devices.

  • As the 4th Industrial Revolution progresses, the shipping logistics sector is becoming smarter by utilizing various core technologies such as AI, IoT, and Bigdata. In particular, the collected marine Bigdata plays a significant role in providing various services like vessel operation monitoring analysis and greenhouse gas emission evaluation, and it is also essential in shipping logistics. Although this maritime Bigdata is collected during actual vessel operations, there are instances where data is lost due to temporal and environmental factors. While It is important to identify and address the fundamental cause of such losses, it is also necessary to generate data through the utilization and analysis of the collected data. This paper develops an Emulator that repeatedly generates new location data, speed values, etc., using maritime transport data collected through empirical tests. The location data is generated by calculating the standard deviation from the collected position information, and the speed values are extracted from the generated location data. The generated data is accumulated by being inserted into the database in real-time. To demonstrate the performance of the Emulator, evperiments were conducted using 5 routes, providing its excellence.

  • Although the weapon systems are becoming more diverse and complex, they are progressing in a short development period and a longer test and evaluation period. The more difficult the given environment is, the more efforts and performance of quantitative target values can be made by development agencies to carry out stable projects. However, these target values of the Integrated Logistics Support are not specified in the requirements and being set during the system development phase. In this paper, application of MOEs, MOPs and TPMs for ILS are presented and provided the basis for carrying out systematic Verification & Validation activities. As a result that MOEs of the ILS were chosen as Availability and MOPs as Mission Reliability, Logistics Reliability, Maintainability and Supportability and TPMs as MTBF, MTBCF, MTTR and so on. In particular, it is appropriate tailoring and apply the TPMs considering the cost, schedule, scope of work and characteristics of the project.

  • With the globalization of economy, there is keen competition among rountries to be a logistics hub and companies are striving to be first in establishing logistics system centering on advantageous sites, especially airport and seaports, to perform supply, production and distribution. Korea competing with Northeast Asia countries is also working out strategies in order to make Korea peninsula a logistics center of Northeast Asia taking advantage of its geographical strength. Gwangyang port has designated as Free Economic Zone together with Pusan and Jinhae, Incheon from October 24th, 2003. However, the introduction of Free Economic Zone in Korea lagged behind other major countries and it has a lot of operational problems. Approximately 600 areas worldwide are designated and operated as a Free Economic Zone and Gwangyang port and its surrounding area has several points to be settled as one of FEZ. First one is its limited functions and related laws. Next is imperfection on development, investment and management system of the hinterland. Lark of promotion activities could be one of the problems. This paper analyzes the above problems and presents various measures to activate Gwangyang Port and Gwangyang Free Economic Zone as follows Benchmarking to promote Gwangyang Free Economic Zone as follows Benchmarking other countries' system, governmental support, introduction & logistics functions, early development of the hinterland, supply of effective one-stop service, investment attraction into the area and diversified promotion & marketing activities.

  • When logistics system is integrated with production system and marketing system, it takes a very important role of the business management. In general, measurement of logistics cost in logistics system uses the conventional cost assignment method. However the conventional method may result in the incorrect cost because the overhead cost may be incorrectly assigned to the products. Activity-Based Costing(ABC) was proposed as an alternative method which will distribute the overhead cost to each cost obeject more accurately. ABC assigns cost to activities based on the amounts of resources used by resource driver, and assigns cost to cost objects based on the amount of activities driver. This study proposes two heuristic algorithms. The first algorithm selects the best activity driver for each cost object by using correlation analysis. The best activity driver is the one that minimizes the sum of loss cost and measurement cost of activity driver. The second algorithm selects the best number of activities by using correlation analysis. The pair of activities with the highest correlation are combined into one if the saving of measurement cost is no less than the loss due to inaccurate distribution of overhead cost. In order to demonstrate the procedure and validity of the algorithms, Real data of one year from a paper manufacturer are used.

  • Construction supply chain management (CSCM) has become one of the critical factors that determine the success of a construction project as it becomes increasingly complicated and mega-sized. Particularly for high-rise or mega-sized building construction, just-in-time supply chain management is required due to lack of storage space and effective logistics for construction components and materials at a construction site. Despite the fact that research and development of radio frequency identification (RFID) and wireless sensor network (WSN) technology have been performed, construction project managers still need to carry mobile devices and check material and component flow at each stage of the supply chain process. This research proposes that the equipment used in the construction supply chain process, such as movers, trailers, gates, and hoists, can become main actors in the supply chain process using RFID and WSN technologies. And the proposed equipment and process focused on a solution to the redundancy identification problem, which has been observed in operations that use RFID/WSN-based processes for construction logistics. This paper also presents issues identified through verification and validation of the research results and proposes further studies.

  • The modern logistics has tried not only to convert the conventional packing system into unit load system using pallet but also to enhance the fitness between packing facilities and transport modes. This is based on the goal to reduce total logistics cost using logistics efficiency. Because the packing unit can affect on both loading rate and loading facilities, the basic form of packing unit is very important to the unit load system. In Korea, the standardization of logistics has been centered on pallet, and the basic condition will be continued except of the variety of standardized pallet form. Because of this, to enhance the standardization of pallet, it is necessary to develop new standard size and form of pallet. The object of this study is to develop a new method of collecting the effectiveness of standardized packing module. The new method is based on measure of effectiveness (MOE) which can be developed by expert survey. This study has originality from the fact that the collecting method for effectiveness of pallet standardization has not been developed up to now.
