Robot Fish Tracking Control using an Optical Flow Object-detecting Algorithm

  • This paper realizes control of the motion of a swimming robot fish in order to implement an underwater robot fish aquarium. And it implements positional control of a two-axis trajectory path of the robot fish in the aquarium. The performance of the robot was verified though certified field tests. It provided excellent performance in driving force, durability, and water resistance in experimental results. It can control robot motion, that is, it recognizes an object by using an optical flow object-detecting algorithm, which uses a video camera rather than image-detecting sensors inside the robot fish. It is possible to find the robot's position and control the motion of the robot fish using a radio frequency (RF) modem controlled via personal computer. This paper proposes realization of robot fish motion-tracking control using the optical flow object-detecting algorithm. It was verified via performance tests of lead-lag action control of robot fish in the aquarium.

  • In order to implement nano-level accuracy of precision equipments, a nano control system is one of the key components. The control system consists of a controller, actuators and sensors having nano-level resolution. In this paper, application area and technical trend on the nano control system are introduced. Some required techniques for realizing nano-level resolution of a controller or actuator are presented. Technical innovation of a control system by IT-fusion and its effect are also described. Finally, domestic research activities for development of the IT-based nano control system are introduced.

양혈사물탕가미방(凉血四物湯加味方)이 Allergy성(性) 접촉(接觸) 피부염(皮膚炎)에 미치는 영향(影響) (The Effects of Yanghyulsamultanggamibang to Allergic Contact Dermatitis)

  • Experimental drug was applied to a white male mouse taken ill with allergic contact dermatitis to investigate the effects of Yanghyulsamultanggamibang. 1. In case of skin moisture, when it was checked 72 hours later, there showed up meaningful differences among the normal, control, and sample groups. Especially, the moisture increased more noticeably in the sample group than in the control group. 2. With regards to RBC count in blood, it increased more in the control and sample groups than in the normal group when it was checked both in 24 hours and 72 hours. When it was checked in 48 hours, the number of RBC in the sample group increased the most, and the count in the control group increased more than in the normal group. 3. About the neutrophil rate in WBC count, it increased meaningfully more both on the control and sample groups than in the normal group in 24 hours. When the rate was checked in 48 hours, it increased the most in the sample group, and it increased more in the control group than in the normal group. When in checked72 hours later, it increased substantially more in the control group than both the sample and normal group. 4. As of the lymphocyte rate in WBC count, when measured in 24 hours, it increased in the normal group than in the control and sample groups. In 48 hours, it increased the most in the normal group, and it increased meaningfully more in the control group than in the sample group. 5. Regarding the total IgE, when measured 24 hours later, it increased noticeably more in the normal group than in the control and sample groups. In 48 hours, there showed up substantial differences among the normal, control and sample groups. In particular, it increased meaningfully more in the control group than in the sample group. 6. When the sample of skin tissue was examined, the corneal layer restoration increased more in the sample group than in the normal group. The above-mentioned results prove that Yanghyulsamultanggamibang can be taken when allergic contact dermatitis develops on the skin. Long-term observation afterward is also advised.

Design of Adaptive Fuzzy Sliding Mode Controller based on Fuzzy Basis Function Expansion for UFV Depth Control

  • Generally, the underwater flight vehicle (UFV) depth control system operates with the following problems: it is a multi-input multi-output (MIMO) system because the UFV contains both pitch and depth angle variables as well as multiple control planes, it requires robustness because of the possibility that it may encounter uncertainties such as parameter variations and disturbances, it requires a continuous control input because the system that has reduced power consumption and acoustic noise is more practical, and further, it has the speed dependency of controller parameters because the control forces of control planes depend on the operating speed. To solve these problems, an adaptive fuzzy sliding mode controller (AFSMC), which is based on the decomposition method using expert knowledge in the UFV depth control and utilizes a fuzzy basis function expansion (FBFE) and a proportional integral augmented sliding signal, is proposed. To verify the performance of the AFSMC, UFV depth control is performed. Simulation results show that the AFSMC solves all problems experienced in the UFV depth control system online.

Development of Modular Control System Based on Closed-Loop Control for Wind Farms

  • The use of renewable energy sources for power generation has been steadily increasing. Power generation using renewable energy has the advantage of not generating carbon but has the disadvantage of high volatility depending on the weather. This volatility makes stable power supply difficult. Curtailment is occurring to address volatility. Various facilities are operated together to solve the loss caused by the curtailment. The existing SCADA must be modified for turbine control reflecting the conditions of various facilities. However, since it is difficult to modify SCADA, a modular control system is required. In this study, we propose Modular Control System Based on Closed-Loop Control for Wind Farms. Since the control logic can be changed without modifying SCADA, it is easy to respond to changes. The developed modular control system was evaluated as a lab test and confirmed to operate smoothly. Through future research, the experiment will be conducted by applying a modular control system to the actual wind farm.

  • This paper introduces the scheme that improve the control performance of electromagnetic levitation system with zero power controller. Magnetic levitation is used widely, but the electromagnetic force has nonlinear characteristics because it is proportioned to a square of the magnetic flux density and it is in inverse proportion to a square of the airgap. So, it is complicate and difficult to control the electromagnetic force. Besides, it is more difficult to control if the equivalent gap is unknown in case of zero power control. Therefore, this paper proposed the hybrid electro-magnetic levitation control method in which the variable load is estimated by using a load observer and its system controlled at a new zero power equilibrium airgap position. Also it is confirmed that the proposed control method improve the control performance through simulation and experiment.

Effective Control Mechanisms in a BPO(Business Process Outsourcing) Arrangement

  • BPO(Business Process Outsourcing) is defined as outsourcing the management and operation of the IT intensive business process to another company that has specialty in managing the process. In the outsourcing arrangement, the design of the effective control mechanisms is essential to the success of the outsourcing. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effective control mechanisms between two organizations in a BPO arrangement. The specific research questions put forth are as follows: (1)What are the control issues in relation to BPO? (2)How the control mechanisms in the successful BPO arrangement are designed? and (3)What kind of effect or change do the designed control mechanisms have on the buyer's job process in terms of BPO? The results of this study found that the following mechanisms are effected in BPO setting: (1)Automation (2)Standardization & Modularity (3)Embedding (4)Balanced control (5)control segmentation (6)hierarchy (7)output/behavior control 8)back-end control 9)informal control.

  • In general, speed control method of the elevator system has used motor pole change type or motor primary voltage control type. But it will change to vector control type in order to increase it's reliability, riding comfort and decrease material cost. It is the conception of vector control type in order to increase it's reliability, riding comfort and decrease material cost. It is the conception of vector control that primary current of the induction motor be controlled independently with magnetizing current(field current of DC motor) and torque current(armature current of DC motor). In this paper, by analyzing the effect of the time constant variation of rotor of the induction motor on the slip frequency type indirect vector control, a drive system for the motor will be constructed using a fuzzy slip frequency type indirect vector controller with fuzzy control method for estimating the vector time constant in the slip frequency type indirect vector control. The goal of this study is to enabling even more efficient speed control by constructing on elevator driver based on the newly developed drive system.

  • Since the heat exchange system, such as the boiler of power plant, gas turbine, and radiator require a high rate heat efficiency and the efficiency of these systems is depended on the control methods. However, it is important f3r operator to understand control system of these systems. In order to properly apply control equipment to these process control systems, such as boiler, any other heat process, or process control system it is necessary to understand the basic aspects and operation principle of the process that relate control, interrelationships of the process characteristics, and the dynamics that are involved. Generally, PID controllers are used in these systems but it is difficult for engineer to understand the complex dynamics and the tuning method because of the coupling action and disturbance in the system loop. In this paper, we design an effective experimental system fur automatic control education and analyze its characteristics through experimental system and industrial plant control software to study how they can team automatic control system by experiments.

  • It is difficulte to control in the flow system because there are many disturbance. So it is impossible to control delicately sometimes by PI or PID. In this paper, we study on the application of intellignet control algorithms such as 2DOF PID control, neural network, Fuzzy contro, Relay feedback to the flow control system. the resultings are 2DOF-PID control is more good response.
