The focus of this study is to investigate the effect of earnings management and audit quality on the cost of equity capital and also examines whether audit quality acts as a moderating variable for the effect of earnings management on the cost of equity capital. The population in this study are companies from the consumer goods industry sector listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) during the 2016-2018 period. This sector was chosen because it is a sector that is able to survive in conditions of economic decline, so it becomes a good investment opportunity in the future. The sample selection was carried out using purposive sampling technique. By using the Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA) technique, the results show that earnings management has a positive effect on the cost of equity capital. Conversely, companies with good audit quality will bear lower cost of equity capital. The moderating hypothesis test results show that audit quality moderates the effect of earnings management on the cost of equity capital. This means that, even though the company carries out earnings management, investors have more confidence in the results of audits conducted by qualified auditors so that the cost of equity capital is low.
Purpose - The purpose of this study is to expand the taxpayer's rights protections, which are covered in the previous studies, and to suggest ways to increase tax inspection efficiency as a way to induce fidelity reporting under the final tax return system and to lower tax compliance costs. Design/methodology/approach - The tax audit is a necessary system for the taxpayer to induce self-reporting in a sincere manner, but it is necessary to harmonize the realization of fair taxation and the rights of taxpayers because it is likely to infringe taxpayer rights in the process. Research implications or Originality - The purpose of this study is as follows. First, the government will seek ways to improve tax investigations to strengthen the protection of taxpayers' rights by increasing the fairness and procedural transparency of the current tax investigation system, as pointed out in the National Tax Administration Reform T / F. Second, we will consider ways to enhance the effectiveness of tax audit as a means of inducing faithful tax in Korea's tax system, which assumes sincere taxpayers.
The purpose of this study is to make an empirical analysis of how voluntary disclosure level has an impact on auditor's audit fees and audit hours and additionally identify if the relationship between the twos depends on the accounting quality. As final sample for analysis, this study targeted the KOSPI listed firms from 2007 to 2013, and as for audit fees(audit hours), 4,572 (4,460) corporate/annual data were used. The results from the empirical analysis in this study are as follows. First, auditor's audit fees appeared higher in KOSPI listed firms compared to the non-KOSPI listed firms, and when targeting the KOSPI listed firms only, the results were the same. Second, auditor's audit hours increased significantly in the KOSPI listed firms compared to the non-KOSPI listed firms, and this result appeared consistently even when analyzing the KOSPI listed firms only. Third, when the accounting quality was not good in the KOSPI listed firms, auditor's audit fees got significantly lower, whereas when targeting the KOSPI listed firms only, no relevance was found. Fourth, when the accounting quality was bad in the KOSPI listed firms, auditor's audit hours were found to have been spent less, but when analyzing the KOSPI listed firms only, such a fact was not identified. This study is significant in that it examined the fact that auditor's audit risk depends on voluntary disclosure level in terms of audit fees and audit hours.

To prevent corruption, waste, and abuse in national governance, audit agencies are established and granted significant authority and responsibilities, including ensuring their independence. However, questions have been raised about who oversees these agencies and addresses issues or misconduct that may arise within them. In the United States, to address this oversight concern, the Inspector General Act was enacted, creating an audit community called the Inspector General Community. This community comprises various audit agencies and promotes compliance with standards and investigates potential wrongdoing by audit personnel. It fosters a culture of independence and collaboration among diverse stakeholders, such as Congress, the President, the Government Accountability Office, and agency leadership. In light of this successful approach in the United States, this research seeks to study and apply similar oversight mechanisms to audit agencies in South Korea. There is a need to develop the relationship between oversight bodies and parliament in terms of improving the efficiency and effectiveness of government operations. Accordingly, this paper studies this American case and presents efficient policy measures for the supervisory system to be applied to Korea's audit organizations. It aims to identify policy insights for effective supervision, ensuring independence, and fostering a collaborative culture within our audit institutions. Therefore, domestic interest and research on this matter are essential to enhance our audit mechanisms and achieve efficient governance.
A project to establish an information system with a project cost of more than 500 million won at a local public firm is subject to the Information System Audit (hereinafter referred to as IS Audit), and the IS Auditor shall conduct audit according to the audit criteria. Recently, as blockchain technology has been applied to various fields such as manufacturing, healthcare, distribution, and public sectors beyond the financial industry, the development of systems that apply blockchain technology is increasing. The use of Hyperledger Fabric, a private blockchain, is on the rise to utilize blockchain technology in public firms and private firms. However, the newly emerging blockchain-based system is not sufficient to carry out auditing with existing audit check items, so it has no choice but to make and use audit items individually. Therefore, a need for verified audit items for systems that base on blockchain technology has emerged. In this study, we customized the Delphi process to derive audit items suitable for the system development project using the blockchain technology, and verified the completeness and accuracy of the audit items derived through a survey by the IS Auditor. This research will be of direct help to the IS Auditor, and it is expected that operators and organizers who provide services through the blockchain-based system will also contribute to improving the quality of the system.

Cloud Storage is the primary component of many businesses on cloud. Majority of the enterprises today are adopting a multicloud strategy to keep away from vendor lock-in and to optimize cost. Auditing schemes are used to ascertain the integrity of cloud data. Of these schemes, only the Provable Data Possession schemes (PDP) are resilient to key-exposure. These PDP schemes are devised using Public Key Infrastructure (PKI-) based cryptography, Identity-based cryptography, etc. PKI-based systems suffer from certificate-related communication/computational complexities. The Identity-based schemes deal with the exposure of only the auditing secret key (audit key). But with the exposure of both the audit key and the secret key used to update the audit key, the auditing process itself becomes a complete failure. So, an Identity-based PDP scheme with Parallel Key-Insulation is proposed for multiple cloud storage. It reduces the risk of exposure of both the audit key and the secret key used to update the audit key. It preserves the data privacy from the Third Party Auditor, secure against malicious Cloud Service Providers and facilitates batch auditing. The resilience to key-exposure is proved using the CDH assumption. Compared to the existing Identity-based multicloud schemes, it is efficient in integrity verification.

An information System Audit by the recognition of a problem and suggestions for solutions for overall matters about constructing and managing information systems is needed in order to contribute to the improvement of an information system's quality and improving the performance of projects. In reality, however, the general cognition is that audit is biased by subjective opinions. For this, an auditor needs to measure the level of recognition of the usability and convenience of the technologies of automating audit by applying TAM in the information system audit, and to analyze the relationship with recognition and availability of the interested parties for the technology (tool) of the audit. By the hypothesis verification result, an auditor needs to present objective corroborative facts that back up the level of recognition and usability for the information technology in the field of audit. This study verified that the phenomenon of technology application can be explained and predicted by applying TAM in the field of audit. Through an empirical study of the recognition level of audit and contractor, the developer suggests that the audit plan stage is similar to the audit corrective action stage, but the audit action stage is different from the audit review stage. This research can verify the audit technology preferred for the availability and intention of use and usability.

The study investigates the effect of the widened daily stock price limits on the usefulness of accounting information in Korea: 1) whether investors place a higher importance on audit quality, an indicator of the reliability of accounting information, and 2) whether there are differences in the relationships between audit quality and stock-price earning-rates two years before and after June 15, 2016. This study employs samples of two years (2013 to 2015) before the widening and two years after the widening (2016 to 2017). The samples are limited to the companies listed on the Korea Stock Exchange, accounting settled in December, collected from Fn-Guide and TS-2000 of the Korea Listed Companies Association. The results show that the positive association between audit quality and stock return was increased during the later period, compared to the preceding period. This tendency was more evident in companies with higher debt ratios and companies with lower levels of income smoothing, which is considered to have higher risks. The findings suggest that it is the first study evaluating the effect of widening daily stock price limits, made on June 15, 2015, on the usefulness of audit quality information by examining the relevance between audit quality and stock return.

This study attempts to examine whether ownership of government-controlled corporations and audit committee effectiveness are related. The population of this study is 431 listed manufactured firms in the Saudi Stock Exchange (Tadawul) for the period 2012-2019 that published their financial and annual reports for the period 2012-2019. This population criterion is based on considerations that manufacturing companies listed on Tadawul have publicly accessible data and they have greater obligations to implement corporate governance code. Using the complementary hypothesis, this study predicts that there is a positive relationship between the ownership of government-controlled companies and audit committee effectiveness. The Pooled OLS regression shows that government-controlled companies' ownership is positively associated with audit committee effectiveness. Our study also indicates that ownership of government-controlled companies as a governance monitoring mechanism becomes more effective as it is combined with audit committee effectiveness which is another governance monitoring mechanism. The results of this study provide insightful evidence to policymakers at the company and country levels on the relationship of government-corporate ownership and audit committee effectiveness.

The present study seeks to investigate the degree of awareness that constitutes the audit gap expectations (AEG) to determine which audit responsibilities can be narrowed or even eliminated. The author had surveyed a sample comprising four groups including auditors, auditees, the financial community, and other interest groups. In this survey, 1400 questionnaires were sent to the respondents, and the total number of responses was 454. The collected data was processed using statistical software SPSS, version 22. The Chi-Square test was used to analyze the effect of professional differences on AEG. The results of this study indicate that AEG cannot be eliminated due to the occupational impact of each survey group (about 46%), but it can be narrowed down to 54%, including a reduction of 11% in the knowledge gap (lack of public knowledge), 13% in the reasonable expectations gap (unqualified audit quality), 30% in the deficient standards gap (limited auditing standards). These results could be attained by improving training, communicating, and adding more responsibilities. This is the first study that provides another method of measuring the contribution of the knowledge gap through professional differences and professional gaps that make up each of the AEG's components.
