Public Data Network Services with an ISDN for a Developing Country (데이타통신 후발국을 위한 종합정보통신망에 의한 공중패킷교환망 구성)

  • For developing countries which are in infant state of data communication services or don`t have their own Packet Switched Public Data Network(PSPDN), we present the strategy to construct the public data communication network, which guarantees the easy diffusion of data communication services, agrees with trends of telecommunication technology, and maximizes the outcomes to investments. With analyzing the characteristics of telecommunication infrastructures and demands of data communication services in a developing country, we show that the introduction of ISDN is the best solution for constructing a public data network. We also suggest aggressive approach to realize the packet switching functions into ISDN switching system and the networking scenario consisting of three graceful steps, based on the evolution of network architectures. Finally we show that the TDX-10 ISDN switching system, which is designed especially for developing countries, is helpful to commence the data communication era.

  • 본 고는 광대역 ISDN 의 전송방식인 ATM(Asynchronous Transfer Mode) 프로토콜의 설계 및 구현에 대하여 기술하였으며, 설계된 ATM 프로토콜은 그 기능을 검증하기 위하여, 광대역 ISDN 을 통하여 Ethernet LAN간 연결을 지원하는 LAN TA(Terminal Adaptor), DS3 급 CBR(Constant Bit Rate) 비디오 서비스를 위한 비디오 TA에 적용하였다. LAN TA 와 비디오 TA에 적용되는 ATM 프로토콜은 공통으로 사용할 수 있도록 모듈화하여 설계하였으며 물리계층의 전송 매체 부분은 최대 100Mbit/s 까지 전송속도를 수용할 수 있도록 고려하였다.

Traffic Flow Control of B-NT for Prevention of Congestion in B-ISDN UNI (B-ISDN UNI에서 폭주를 예방하기 위한 B-NT의 트래픽 흐름 제어)

  • We propose a traffic flow control scheme of B-NT with temporary cell buffering and selective cell discarding to prevent congestion state of the network nodes in B-ISDN systems to reduce or suppress output cell strams towards T interface. We define the states of the network nodes as normal, pre-congestion, and congestion. In a pre-congestion state, the loss-sensitive traffic is temporarily buffered to slow down the rate of the output traffic streams. In a congestion state, the delay-sensitive traffic is selectively discarded to suppress the output traffic streams as possible in addition to the cell buffering. We model the input cell streams and the states of the network nodes with Interrupted Bernoulli Process and 3-state Markov chain to analyze the performance of the proposed scheme in the B-NT system. The appropriate size of the cell buffer is explored by means of simulation and the influence on the performance of the proposed scheme by the network node state is discussed. As results, more than 2,00 cells of buffer size is needed for the control of medium of lower than the medium, degree of congestion occurrence in the network node while the control of high degree of congestion occurrence is nearly impossible.
