  • This paper describes a heuristic search technique carrying out collision avoidance for Autonomous Underwater Vehicles(AUVs). Fuzzy relational products are used as the mathematical implement for the analysis and synthesis of relations between obstacles that are met in the navigation environment and available candidate nodes. In this paper, we propose a more effective evaluation function that reflects the heuristic information of domain experts on obstacle clearance, and an advanced heuristic search method performing collision avoidance for AUVs. The search technique adopts fuzzy relational products to conduct path-planning of intelligent navigation system. In order to verify the performance of proposed heuristic search, it is compared with $A^*$ search method through simulation in view of the CPU time, the optimization of path and the amount of memory usage.

  • A cluster server usually consists of a front end node and multiple backend nodes. Though increasing the number of bookend nodes can result in the more QoS(Quality of Service) streams for clients, the possibility of failures in backend nodes is proportionally increased. The failure causes not only the stop of all streaming service but also the loss of the current playing positions. In this paper, when a backend node becomes a failed state, the recovery mechanisms are studied to support the unceasing streaming service. The basic techniques are hewn as providing very high speed data transfer rates suitable for the video streaming. However, without considering the architecture of cluster-based VOD server, the application of these basic techniques causes the performance bottleneck of the internal network for recovery and also results in the inefficiency CPU usage of backend nodes. To resolve these problems, we propose a new failure recovery mechanism based on the pipeline computing concept.

  • Due to the exponential growth of access information on the web, the need for predicting web users' next access has increased. Various models such as markov models, deep neural networks, support vector machines, and fuzzy inference models were proposed to handle web access prediction. For deep learning based on neural network models, training time on large-scale web usage data is very huge. To address this problem, deep neural network models are trained on cluster of computers in parallel. In this paper, we investigated impact of several important spark parameters related to data partitions, shuffling, compression, and locality (basic spark parameters) for training Multi-Layer Perceptron model on Spark standalone cluster. Then based on the investigation, we tuned basic spark parameters for training Multi-Layer Perceptron model and used it for tuning Spark when training Multi-Layer Perceptron model for web access prediction. Through experiments, we showed the accuracy of web access prediction based on our proposed web access prediction model. In addition, we also showed performance improvement in training time based on our spark basic parameters tuning for training Multi-Layer Perceptron model over default spark parameters configuration.

  • Background: The structural conversions in ginsenosides induced by steaming or heating or acidic condition could improve red ginseng bioactivities significantly. In this paper, the chemical transformations of red American ginseng from fresh Panax quinquefolium L. under steaming were investigated, and the possible mechanisms were discussed. Methods: A method with reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with linear ion trap mass spectrometry ($HPLC-MS^n$)-equipped electrospray ionization ion source was developed for structural analysis and quantitation of ginsenosides in dried and red American ginseng. Results: In total, 59 ginsenosides of protopanaxadiol, protopanaxatriol, oleanane, and ocotillol types were identified in American ginseng before and after steaming process by matching the molecular weight and/or comparing $MS^n$ fragmentation with that of standards and/or known published compounds, and some of them were determined to be disappeared or newly generated under different steaming time and temperature. The specific fragments of each aglycone-type ginsenosides were determined as well as aglycone hydrated and dehydrated ones. The mechanisms were deduced as hydrolysis, hydration, dehydration, and isomerization of neutral and acidic ginsenosides. Furthermore, the relative peak areas of detected compounds were calculated based on peak areas ratio. Conclusion: The multicomponent assessment of American ginseng was conducted by $HPLC-MS^n$. The result is expected to provide possibility for holistic evaluation of the processing procedures of red American ginseng and a scientific basis for the usage of American ginseng in prescription.

  • The interest in the use of shield TBM (Tunnel Boring Machine) on the tunnel excavation has been increased rapidly in Korea. The shield TBM tunnel is generally designed as non-drainage tunnel. Consequently, if water leakage through the segment joints happens, big problems on the usage and stability of tunnel can be occurred. In this study, the variation of waterproof capacity of hydrophilic rubber waterstop and gasket, respectively by the construction error and excessive displacement of segment was studied. The test results show that hydrophilic rubber waterstop has favorable on the offset, however unfavorable on the gap. On the other hand, gasket has unfavorable on the offset, however favorable on the gap.

  • Since catalyst technology is one of the promising technologies to improve the working performance of next generation energy and electronic devices, many efforts have been made to develop various catalysts with high efficiency at a low cost. However, there are remaining challenges to be resolved in order to use the suggested catalytic materials, such as platinum (Pt), gold (Au), and palladium (Pd), due to their poor cost-effectiveness for device applications. In this study, to overcome these challenges, we suggest a useful method to increase the surface area of a noble metal catalyst material, resulting in a reduction of the total amount of catalyst usage. By employing block copolymer (BCP) self-assembly and nano-transfer printing (n-TP) processes, we successfully fabricated sub-20 nm Pt line and cross-bar patterns. Furthermore, we obtained a highly ordered Pt cross-bar pattern on a Ni thin film and a Pt-embedded Ni thin film, which can be used as hetero hybrid alloy catalyst structure. For a detailed analysis of the hybrid catalytic material, we used scanning electron microscope (SEM), transmission electron microscope (TEM) and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), which revealed a well-defined nanoporous Pt nanostructure on the Ni thin film. Based on these results, we expect that the successful hybridization of various catalytic nanostructures can be extended to other material systems and devices in the near future.

  • Purpose: This study aims to systematically review the dual-task evaluation applied to the screening of mild cognitive impairment. It also aims to present various evaluation items and results analysis methods for dual tasks applied to patients with mild cognitive impairment. Methods: We conducted a systematic search of published studies in PubMed databases and KISS from January 2000 to August 2020 using the main keywords such as "Dual task," "Mild Cognitive impairment," "Elderly," and "Screening." We selected a total of 10 studies for the analysis from 1314 searched articles. Results: We analyzed the qualitative level of 10 studies that were nonrandomized two-group studies with evidence level II (100.0%). These results suggest that the evidence level of the studies was high. We analyzed 10 studies and identified 12 motor tasks and 19 cognitive tasks. Walking was the most commonly used evaluation motor task and counting backward by ones and naming animals were the most commonly used evaluation cognitive tasks. Moreover, the velocity speed was the most used result analysis method. The results indicate that there were significant differences in dual-task performance between patients with normal and mild cognitive impairment. Conclusion: The results of this study can be used as a basis for the selection of dual-task evaluation items and methods of analyzing the results for screening mild cognitive impairment. Furthermore, they are expected to be used for research on the development of dual-task evaluation tools. It is necessary to compare and analyze the usage trends of dual-task evaluation by cultural differences in future studies.

  • With popularization of services for massive content, the fundamental limitations of TCP/IP networking were discussed and a new paradigm called Information-centric networking (ICN) was presented. In ICN, content is addressed by the content identifier (content name) instead of the location identifier such as IP address, and network nodes can use the cache to store content in transit to directly service subsequent user requests. As the user request can be serviced from nearby network caches rather than from far-located content servers, advantages such as reduced service latency, efficient usage of network bandwidth, and service scalability have been introduced. However, these advantages are determined by how actively content stored in the cache can be utilized. In this paper, we 1) introduce content access schemes in Named-data networking, one of the representative ICN architectures; 2) in particular, review the schemes that allow access to cached content away from routing paths; 3) conduct comparative study on the performance of the schemes using the ndnSIM simulator.
