  • Smart devices have a variety of affordances to foster meaningful learning in elementary school. For the design of smart learning environments, more research is needed to understand students' smart device usage and their perception of learning with smart devices. In order to capture smart device usage profiles among elementary school students in South Korea, this study carried out Latent Profile Analysis with three constructs: information search, communication, and study. Participants (n=253), who ranged from the fourth to the sixth grade students, were classified into three profiles of smart device usage: low-activity, communication, and high-activity groups. The smart device usage profiles varied depending on smartphone usage experience, and the profiles were significantly related with smart device addiction, not with smart device usage ability. Perceptions of smart education were also significantly associated with the profiles. The high-activity group showed more positive attitudes toward smart education than the others, but no significant difference was found in regard to negative attitudes. Based on the findings, this study discussed implications for the use of smart devices in elementary school.

  • Software system is a hierarchical structure with collection of program units. Software system can import external packages globally or locally depending on the usage within a system. If the imported package is used globally, the soft-ware system can be influenced globally by any change of package and programmer's debugging time for the program maintenance will be greater. To solve these problems, it is desirable to use the imported package locally right on the usage point within the system. The model presented in this paper analyzed entity usage of package in structure of program, identified the usage level to obtain localization and provided information for restructure of the program to localize package usage. To obtain localization, it identified declared entities inside the imported package and analyzed the specification and body part of program unit to identify entities referenced from the imported package. The proposed model can be used to improve the maintainability of software system and contributed to reduction of programmer's debugging time in program maintenance.

  • Due to the explosive growth of smartphone use, new type and format of business opportunity is being created. Despite the creation of added value using smartphone is very important, the past study on smart phone has been mainly focused on its functions and specifications. This study is intended to identify the factors that influence continuance usage intention of smartphone and to analyze the relationship between such factors and the expected confirmation. satisfaction, and usage intention. The result of this empirical study indicates that the perceived enjoyfulness and quality significantly affect users' expected confirmation and satisfaction, and social influence also affects users' continuance usage intention. Thus, it implies users place a high value on enjoyfulness and quality in using smartphone application and on social influence in choosing specific application. Finally this paper provides a detailed account of how customers accept smartphone application and their perceived characteristics affect the usage intention.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the factors influencing usage intention of u-Healthcare with voluntariness in long-term care hospitals. This model tests various theoretical research hypotheses relating to u-Healthcare, UTAUT theory and voluntariness. The proposed model is analyzed to target long-term care hospitals. Questionnaires have been collected during two months of 2010 and total 142 has been considered to be valid. Smart PLS (partial least square) 2.0 and SPSS 15.0 have been utilized for deriving the study results. The results of hypothesis testing are as follows. First, performance expectance, effort expectancy and social influence positively influence usage intention. Second, facilitation not influence usage intention. Still due to lack of technical infrastructure to promote conditions of use u-Healthcare in long-care hospitals for u-Healthcare system also considered to be not significantly affected. Finally, performance expectance to usage intention for low voluntariness group is significantly larger than those for high voluntariness group. In addition, social influence to usage intention for high voluntarines group is significantly larger than those for low voluntariness group.

  • State transportation agencies utilize fleets of heavy equipment to construct and maintain roadways. Equipment cost models can be developed to forecast economic life, which is the point at which the average unit cost to date reaches a minimum. A calculated economic life and cost models can be used to quantify the impacts of management strategies applied to a fleet. The purpose of this research was to develop an accurate method of quantifying the results of management strategies applied to a fleet of heavy construction equipment. The strategies evaluated are related to the annual usage of the fleet and the size of the fleet. More specifically the methodology is used to adjust the economic model to consider a limit to the annual decline in machine usage and a reduction in the number of machines in the fleet. When limiting annual machine usage, a specified rate is applied to the usage of the fleet, while total usage is held constant. This causes aging at a modified rate. A reduction in fleet size also causes a change to the usage of a fleet as the fleet must use fewer machines to produce the same total usage.

  • The purpose of this paper is to explain the necessity of secure budget in public libraries with regard to promoting library usage. It is namely to attempt to find out if there really is a connection between library funding and library usage. For this purpose, the relevant data of all the 31 public libraries in Busan were collected from the 2013 National library Statistics of Korea. To determine the connection between library funding and usage, two variables were selected, 'TFI (Total Funding Indicator) = $\sqrt{personnelcosts{\times}materialcosts}$' for independent variable and 'LU (Library Usage) = (visits per year) + (loans per year)/number of inhabitants' for dependent variable. The results showed that there is a clear relationship between TFI and LU and If more cost is spent on personal resources and material resources, the total usage of the public library also increase. The findings are limited due to the fact that the observation was focusing on public libraries in one community and the period of observation was one year in 2013.

  • In recent years, the diminishing of operation and maintenance cost using advanced maintenance technology is attracting many companies' attention. Especially, the heavy machinery industry regards it as a crucial problem since a failure of heavy machinery requires high cost and long downtime. To improve the current maintenance process, the heavy machinery industry tries to develop a methodology to predict failure in advance and to find its causes using usage data. A better analysis of failure causes requires more data so that various kinds of sensor are attached to machines and abundant amount of product usage data is collected through the sensor network. However, the systemic analysis of the collected product usage data is still in its infant stage. Many previous works have focused on failure occurrence as statistical data for reliability analysis. There have been less works to apply product usage data into root cause analysis of product failure. The product usage data collected while failures occur should be considered failure cause analysis. To do this, this study proposes a methodology to apply product usage data into failure cause analysis. The proposed methodology in this study is composed of several steps to transform product usage into failure causes. Various statistical analysis combined with product usage data such as multinomial logistic regression, T-test, and so on are used for the root cause analysis. The proposed methodology is applied to field data coming from operated locomotive and the analysis result shows its effectiveness.

  • This paper aims to provide a better understanding about how Information and Communication technology (ICT) has diffused. The investigation is conducted with the consideration of ICT evolution in terms of technological change and usage pattern. The definition used is presented as 'the ICT is a process of convergence of technologies between information-processing and information-transforming technologies, mainly due to the advent of microelectronlcs'. After examining technological changes of ICT, the diffusion path of ICT is traced through the usage ratio in total input and/or investment based on Input-Output tables (I-O). It shows that the evolution of ICT from the change of usage pattern is an up-and-down usage pattern rather than a uni-modal usage time path. With this recognition, the diffusion index is prepared. • Purpose: It is to seek for an appropriate cost rate analysis methodology of credit card value propositions in Korea. For this issue, it is claimed that methodologies based on probability distribution is more suitable than methodologies based on data-mining. The analysis model constructed for the cost rate estimation is called VCPM model. Methods: The model includes two major variables denoted as S and P. S is monthly credit card usage amount. P stands for the proportion of usage amount at special merchants over the whole monthly usage amount. The distributions assumed for P are positively skewed distributions such as exponential, gamma and lognormal. The major inputs to the model are also derived from S and P, which are E(S) and the aggregate proportion of usage amount at special merchants over the total monthly usage amount. Results: When the credit card's value proposition is general discount, the VCPM model fits well and generates reasonable cost rate(denoted as R). However, it seems that the model does not work well for other types of credit cards. Conclusion: The VCPM model is reliable for calculating cost rate for credit cards with positively skewed distribution of P, which are general discount card. However, another model should be built for cards with other types of distributions of P.
