융합인재교육(STEAM) 연구 동향 분석 (Analysis on the Research Trends in STEAM Education)

  • 본 연구는 우리나라에서 융합인재교육(STEAM)에 대한 연구가 본격적으로 이루어진 2011년부터 2014년까지 국내 학술지에 발표된 관련 논문 271편에 대해 발행 연도, 연구 방법, 연구 대상, 연구 주제, 발행 기관별로 연구 성과를 진단하고 앞으로의 연구 방향을 결정하는 지표를 제공하고자 하였다. 융합인재교육의 논문 게재 수는 2011년부터 2014년까지 지속적으로 증가하고 있으나 2014년에는 연구의 증가 추세가 주춤하는 경향을 나타내었다. 2013년부터는 대학교를 대상으로 한 연구가 두드러지게 증가하였고, 2014년에는 유치원 대상의 연구의 증가와 부진 학생과 특수학생을 대상으로 한 연구도 이루어짐을 확인하였다. 유치원과 대학교급에서는 미술을 중심으로 한 연구의 비중이 가장 높고, 초.중.고등학교급에서는 실과와 과학을 중심으로 한 연구가 많은 비중을 차지하고 있다. 일반 학문 분야에서는 융합인재교육에 대한 연구의 영역을 확대하고 있는 반면 교육 관련 학회에서는 2014년에 논문 게재 편수가 2013년에 비하여 약 16% 감소하였다. 앞으로 융합인재교육 연구에 있어 사례연구와 같은 질적연구 방법론이 더 높은 비중으로 다루어져야 할 필요가 있으며, 프로그램 보급 및 활용 실태에 대한 분석을 통한 프로그램을 효과적으로 공유하기 위한 시스템 구축에 대한 연구와 교육정책 및 제도에 대한 연구가 더 이루어져야 한다. 그리고 예비 교사 및 현장 교사의 교사교육에 대한 연구와 장기적인 연구를 수행하여 그 효과성을 검증해야 할 필요가 있다.

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome and Risk of Endometrial Cancer: a Mini-Review

  • The polycystic ovary syndrome is the most common endocrinological disorder of reproductive age women with a prevalence of 5 to 8 %. The most common diagnostic criteria used for polycystic ovary syndrome are oligo- or an-ovulation, clinical and/ or biochemical signs of hyperandrogenism and polycystic ovaries. Hyperandrogenism results in increased estrogen levels and lack of cyclic progesterone due to anovulation and persistent stimulation of the endometrium may lead to endometrial hyperplasia or adenocarcinoma development. In this mini review, we aimed to evaluate the possible relationship between polycystic ovary syndrome and endometrial cancer.

일반 재가노인을 위한 치매교육 프로그램의 효과 (The Effects of a Dementia Education Program for the Aged)

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of a dementia education program for Korean older adults who resided in community. Methods: The research adopted the non-equivalent control group pretestposttest design. A total of 66 older adults completed the study (31 older adults in the experimental group and 35 in the control group). The Experimental group participated in a six-session dementia education program for three weeks. The effects of the dementia education program were evaluated using the measures of knowledge of dementia and attitude toward dementia. Data were analyzed using independent sample t-test with SPSS/WIN 18.0. Results: There was a significant change in the knowledge of dementia in the experimental group (t=2.75, p=.008). Although there was an increase in attitude toward dementia in the experimental group, the change was not statistically significant (t=1.26, p=.212). Conclusion: The results indicated that the dementia education program is effective in improving the knowledge of dementia among community-dwelling older adults. There is a need to develop more effective dementia education programs designed to improve older adults' attitude toward dementia. Further research is needed using a highly rigorous research methodology.

"기독교학교교육" 관련 연구 동향 분석 (An Analysis of Research Trends Related to "Christian School Education")

  • 본 연구는 한국의 기독교학교교육과 관련한 학회 활동 및 연구 동향을 분석하였다. 기독교학교교육 관련 학회 활동을 분석하기 위하여 국내의 기독교학교교육관련 학회 활동(학술대회)의 주제 및 연구 문헌을 수집하여 기독교학교교육 관련 주제의 빈도 및 동향을 분석하였다. 학술대회 발표논문을 연도별로 정리하여 그 빈도를 분석하였으며, 각 연구의 표제어와 주제어 및 초록과 논문의 내용을 참고하여 교육대상과 교육내용을 분석하였다. 또한 학술지 개제논문 중 "기독교학교"로 검색된 논문을 분류하여 정리하였다. 기독교학교교육 관련 연구 동향을 파악하기 위하여는 기독교학교교육관련 학술지 게재논문의 연도와 학술지별 빈도를 분석하였으며, 게재논문의 내용을 연구학교, 연구대상, 연구내용 등으로 구분하여 분석하였다. 기독교학교교육 관련 학회 주제 및 연구 동향을 분석한 결과, 기독교학교교육 유관기관 중 기독교학교교육과 관련한 학술교류나 학회 활동을 하는 경우는 극히 드물었으며, 대부분은 학교현장을 직접 지원하는 교육과정 및 수업의 재구성 혹은 교수법과 관련한 강의 및 모임을 지원하고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 이에 본 연구는 기독교학교교육 유관기관에서의 학회 및 학술대회의 활성화를 제안하였다. 또한 본 연구는 기독교교육 관련 학회의 정기 학술대회가 기독교학교교육에 대한 주제로 개최된 경우가 극히 드물다는 것을 파악하였고, 기독교교육을 교회교육과 동일시하는 분위기 속에서 기독교학교교육과 관련한 활발한 연구를 통해서 학교교육의 회복으로 교육의 영역에 하나님 나라가 확장되어야 함을 주장하였다. 세 번째로, 국내 학술지 게재논문을 분석한 결과 기독교학교교육 관련 연구가 주로 대학을 중심으로 이루어지고 있으며, 그 주제도 역사, 교육과정, 종교교육, 정체성, 선교 등으로 한정되어 있음을 확인하고, 기독교학교교육 관련 연구 주제의 확장을 제안하였다. 마지막으로 기독교학교교육 관련 연구가 게재된 학술지를 분석한 결과 비기독교진영에서도 기독교학교에 관심을 가지고 연구를 진행하고 있음을 발견하였고, 이에 기독교학교교육 관련 연구를 활성화하기 위하여 비기독교진영과의 소통을 제안하였다.

  • This paper identifies GNSS education and training program under Geomatic field of study. GNSS education programs is evaluated $vis-{\grave{a}}-vis$ new-products. Data on Geomatic knowledge generation in the era of the GNSS derivatives over the 1975 - 2003 period are examined. The emerging trends and patterns; in particular for selected Asian nations will be dissected in detail. The knowledge indicator used in this study is the patent ownership against the background of emergence of new core technologies and innovations in the field of GNSS. Looking at the dismal performance of Geomatic professionals in terms of innovative activities in most part of Asian and Malaysia in particular, is it there is something that holding up these professionals from doing so? With our universities and numerous polytechnics offering Geomatic program, more is expected from them. Is it a problem of lack or inadequacy of skills? Or is it these professionals are too busy and being narrowly focused on doing something else?

A Novel Technique to Miniaturize Microstrip Antennas with a Locally Non-Homogeneous Substrate Configuration

  • Microstrip antennas are attractive for many applications because of their compact size, low profile, and light weight. Recently, the demand for the miniaturization of the personal communication equipment has been increasing along with the proliferation of personal communication systems. Thus, the development of small antenna has been highly demanded. In this paper, a new technique to reduce the overall dimension of a microstrip antenna with a locally non-homogeneous substrate configuration is proposed. The miniaturized microstrip antenna for a repeater system in a mobile communication cellular band(824~894 MHz) is designed with the proposed technique, and commercialized with low cost, light weight, and small size. Comparison between simulations, based on Agilent Technologies HFSS software, and measurements are provided. The proposed method will be more attractive for a light-weight, small-size, and low-cost microstrip array design. This paper also presents the bandwidth improvement technique for under-coupled microstrip patch antenna with a tuning stub.

공학계열내 학부연구생 프로그램의 실태 분석 (Analysis of the Reality of the Undergraduate Research Assistant Program in Engineering College)

  • This study proposes a means of guiding undergraduate research assistants programs in a more positive direction. This will be achieved by researching the reality of the programs operated in engineering departments for graduate school students and by analyzing the problems thereof. To achieve this objective, a literature study and research were conducted, which comprised of a survey on 204 graduate school students within the metropolitan area of Korea. The results of the study demonstrated that experience as an undergraduate research assistant has a positive influence on the adaptation to and life in graduate school. However, the role of the student and the level of salary varied depending on the role of the student, based on the capacity and support of individual professors. Thus, it is deemed that there will be a need for systematic program improvement and the development of a program that can provide significant academic activities, rather than simple experimental assistance.

국내 PSM 프로그램 도입의 성공요인에 관한 연구 (Critical Factors for Adoption of PSM Program of Korea)

  • Quality assurance in high level education is one of the most important problems in Korea, and around the world. Many studies have examined means of assuring the quality of education, mostly focusing on what type of graduate we should launch into the real world. However, it has been realized only in technical fields, such as Engineering, Medicine, etc. Here, we discuss the problems of Korean high level education in scientific fields, and present some answers from American innovation policies. The USA has changed the idea about how to innovate, and in recent years has developed the Professional Science Master's(PSM) degree, which is now awarded by over 100 American universities. PSM programs have produced graduates who can innovate in scientific fields, e.g., in biology, environmental science, and statistics. The degree is highly praised by the Council On Competitiveness, which consists of CEOs of major corporations, university presidents, and heads of labor organizations. The PSM seems to meet their expectations. Interestingly, many research universities have established PSM programs. We examined the reasons why many American universities have accepted the PSM despite their daily duties for research and doctoral education. Finally, we discuss the possibility that programs such as the PSM can succeed in Korean universities.

환경부의 체험환경교육 프로그램 지원 사업 개선 방안 연구 (Research on Improving the Supporting System for Experiential Environmental Education Programs Funded by Ministry of Environment)

  • The Ministry of Environment supports environmental education mainly in two ways ; one is by supporting schools engaged in environment conservation model school and the other is by extending grants for experiential environmental education programs. This research aims to evaluate the current status of grant for experiential environmental education programs while proposing possible improvement for constructive and continuing development of the support measures. Grant for experiential environmental education programs is divided into two areas of grant for schools and grant for community-based civil organizations. The diagnosis and evaluation were conducted in terms of 7 areas, such as time, facilities, programs, manpower (professional expertise), operation, administrative and financial support mechanism and others. Research process involved the review of previous studies in 2001 and 2003, comparison of the grant program with other grants in and out of Korea for environment education, and the following areas considered when identifying improvement options: i) Overall review of objectives and operations, ii) expansion supports programs oriented problem solving as well as those focused ecological sensitivity, iii) change from expendable, one-time program to productive, continuous program, iv) link to social changes and issues, v) principles for operation and evaluation, vi) criteria and methods for program selection and evaluation, and vii) improving operation system. Based on review and the overall evaluation on the experiential environmental education program grant, the recommendation for improving operation system were provided, which included stages of passive improvement, active improvement and building infrastructure for environment education, and building capacity of the members related in the initiatives.

The Views of Teachers and Parents of Special Education Schools in Saudi Arabia

  • This research examines the views of teachers and parents of special schools in Saudi Arabia, exploring the schools' strengths and disadvantages, as well as their impact on teachers, parents, and students with disabilities. The respondents' key views of the schools are identified, including the areas of consensus and conflict, and recommendations are made for the future, based on the findings. This research concerns a specific special education school in Saudi Arabia, and focuses on the understanding of special education in the country. The approach to the study is targeted and qualitative, with the six participants, three teachers and three parents, intentionally selected. The data collection is conducted via semi-structured interviews that explore the participants' views of special education in Saudi Arabia. A number of issues emerge from the results, and one raised by all three teachers is the need to improve school facilities. Although all three parents report that their children clearly benefited from attending a special school, two felt that the offering was insufficient, in terms of the teaching methods, and of supporting cognitive skills.
