It is necessary to change internet protect from version 4 (IPv4) to version 6 (IPv6). A converter from IPv4 to IPv6 is working in a laboratory not in practice. In this paper, we review internet protocol versions (IPv6) and design IPv4 to IPv6 converter. The IPv4 to IPv6 converter also has security prediction capability so as to deal with security problem when IPv4 packet is converted to IPv6 packet.

It is impossible to replace overnight the present Internet Protocol Version 4(IPv4)-based Internet with Internet Protocol Version 6(IPv6). These two protocols are expected to coexist for a number of years during the transition period. A number of transition mechanisms are proposed by Internet Engineering Task Force(IETF) Next Generation Transition Working Group(Ngtrans WG). However, most of them provide only the mechanism to initiate sessions from hosts within the IPv6 network to those within the IPv4 network, but do not support the initiation from IPv4 hosts to IPv6 ones. In this paper, we propose the IPv4-to-IPv6 Dual Stack Transition Mechanism(4to6 DSTM) which can operate even in the case that IPv4 clients in the IPv4 network initiate connections with dual stack servers in the IPv6 network.
In this paper, we consider the interworking methods for Internet layer 3 protocols. The legacy protocol for Internet is IPv4(IP version 4). The ability of IPv4 is not enough for modern real time multimedia communication services. So IPv6(IP version 6) protocol was suggested to resolve the problems of IPv4. 6Bones(IPv6 Backbones) have also constructed from 1996 in many countries. The 6Bones should be interoperatable to the legacy internet. To support all data services including voice and video, IP protocol should be enhanced because the characteristics of modern network services are requiring QoS(Quality of Service) functions, plug and play, security, mobility and so on. So a new IP protocol, IPv6, has been developing to meet the requirements. In this paper, some migration methods for internets are described. We first describe the protocol compatibility problems and suggest some solutions and scenario to solve the problems.

The IPv6(Internet Protocol version 6), a next generation Internet protocol. was standardized to solve the problems of the IPv4(Internet Protocol version 4). However, the IPv4 could not be actually converted to the IPv6 at one time. Therefore, the transition mechanism is thought to be very much important to be compatible with the IPv4 naturally and convert to the IPv6 network gradually. Despite of the development of various kinds of the transition mechanism, the IPv6 network was not expanded. The research was mainly made not for current system environment but for technical purposes. This paper investigated the performances through the transition mechanism and examined proper ways being applicable to current environment.
In this paper, we describe the design and implementation of IPv6 LAN. The legacy protocol for Internet is IPv4(IP version 4). The ability of IPv4 is not enough for modern real time multimedia communication services. So IPv6(IP version 6) protocol was suggested to resolve the problems of IPv4. We implemented IPv6 LAN using sTLA(sub Top Level Aggregation identifier) address and KOREN(KOrea Research and Experimental Network). Our IPv6 LAN is connected with 6TAP(Chicago), WIDE(Tokyo), and SingAREN(Singapore). We used a dedicated router, Windows 2000 PC host FreeBSD PC host, Solaris 7 workstation and Solaris 8 workstation for IPv6 NDP(Neighbor Discovery Protocol) protocol test. To support all data services including voice and video, IP protocol should be enhanced because the characteristics of modern network services are requiring QoS(Quality of Service) functions, auto-configuration, security, mobility and so on. So a new IP protocol, IPv6, has been developing to meet the requirements. In this paper, we introduce the implementation method and configuration information of IPv6 LAN.

현재 사용되고 있는 IPv4(Internet Protocol Version 4)의 주소의 고갈 문제가 대두 되면서 IPv6(Internet Protocol Version 6)[1]가 거론되기 시작하였다.

The next generation Internet protocol(IPv6: Internet Protocol version 6) has been introduced to overcome the limitations of IPv4 and will be essential element for our industry environment. Transition to IPv6 is not simply replacing a protocol but complex work which affects the whole network. So, the accomplishment of appropriate plans and the systematic transition activities are required. In this paper, we examined the necessity of IPv6 transition and suggested the transition strategy in major parts of transition, such as networks, applications, and address management system.
IPv6 (IP version 6), which was standardized by the IETF (Internet Engineering Task Force) to cope with existing IPv4 problems, needs several approaches for interoperation with IPv4. The internetworking of IPv6 with IPv4 is an important key to the deployment of the next generation Internet. As the solutions to the transition mechanism, both tunneling and translator methods have been proposed. In this paper, we analyze functional elements for implementation design of a transition mechanism based on the NAT-PT (NAT-Protocol Translation), and propose an extension algorithm that uses ports for effective use of global IPv4 addresses. The algorithm presented in this paper is a method of combining NAT-PT with Port Translation mechanism. The algorithm does not assign an IPv4 address to the host that needs IPv4 address, but allocates a single temporary IPv4 address and a port number in order to identify host.
It is well known that, in the near future, the lifetime of the IPv4 address space will be limited and available 32-bit IP network addresses will not be left my more. In order to solve such IPv4 address space problem in an effective way, the transition to the new version using IPv6 architecture is inevitably required. This paper presents the design and implementation of IPv4/IPv6 dual stack at the GSM Phone based on Linux Kernel 2.4 IPv6 Protocol Stack. It designs appropriately in GSM Phone environment and it is tested by a network of Linux IPv4/IPv6 dual stack on PPP. The test was processed with a test scenario and it was found that the results were successful.

Internet demand has increased rapidly, and Internet Protocol Version 4, the main Internet protocol, can not cope with various types of network demand in the future. Therefore, it is urgent to spread IPv6-based stable network to solve the shortage of Internet address resources. Due to the proliferation of IoT and the increase in mobile devices, efficient and optimal IPv6 routing design is indispensable. In this paper, we have studied about characteristics of IPv6, address system of IPv6, structure analysis and efficient routing technology among IPv6 terminals. Furthermore, experimental results on routing packet analysis and convergence time are presented in network - based IPv6 routing implementation environment. In addition, we show the results of the experiment analysis by dividing the implementation of IPv6 routing, operation test, and fail over performance into three kinds of routing protocol methods. As a result, this study can be applied to the introduction of IPv6 system, test bed environment construction, and network design.
