Design on Protection and Authentication System of IPTV Contents using HSI Watermark (HSI 워터마크를 이용한 IPTV 콘텐츠 보호 및 인증 시스템 설계)

  • While the broadband network and multimedia technologies have been developing, the commercial market of digital contents also has been widely spreading with recently starting IPTV. As the IPTV services are getting to be generalized and popularized, the contents illicit copying and distribution of copyright meterials tends to draw more attentions. So we need a right service system that can protect contents and copyright using watermark inserting. Until now, the conventional protection and authentication system is taking advantages of merits both in CAS and DRM. But this system can not protect the contents when acquiring them from TV output using A/D convertor. So we apply watermark method using HSI color space against contents illicit copying. And for distribution of copyright materials. we compound unique settop ID and copyrighter's ID to make new ID that is watermark. When inserting watermark, we use the watermark for copyright protection and authentication. So we can protect copyright and identify last settop's user in illicit distribution. we design download based IPTV contents protection and authentication system using HSI watermark method.

  • According to the IT839 strategy which was announced by the Ministry of Information and Communication(MIC) in 2004, the convergence trend of the broadcasting and the communication would be much more promoted. Thus, the methods for protecting the broadcasting contents will be indispensible elements for the successful IPTV service achievement. This paper describes the characteristics of IPTV and the related contents protection techniques. To evaluate several security issues, we suggest a security model for IPTV, and speculate the most widespread, two security technologies for IPTV such as CAS and DRM.

  • IPTV는 2008년 처음 서비스가 시작된 이후 IPTV 콘텐츠 호환성 확보와 단말 이동성 확보를 통한 IPTV 서비스 활성화 및 전체적인 비용 절감을 위해 많은 표준화 이슈들이 있었고 짧은 시간동안 많은 부분 표준화가 완료 되었다. 그러나 기존의 XML 기반의 서비스 정보를 송출하고 수신하는 제품이 없고 표준 검증을 위한 기준 단말 및 서버가 개발자에게 제공되지 않아 표준의 빠른 상용화 개발에 어려움이 있다. 이에 본 논문은 방통융합 기반기술 테스트 환경 구축 과제를 통해 IPTV 서비스 탐색과 콘텐츠 가이드 표준 참조구현 소스를 오픈소스 방식으로 무료 배포하기 위하여, IPTV 서비스 환경에 적합한 XML 기반의 서비스 정보와 콘텐츠 가이드 정보를 H/E단(서버)에서 송출하고 단말을 통해 이들 정보를 확인하는 기술 표준인 "IPTV 서비스 탐색 및 전송방식"과 "IPTV 콘텐츠 가이드 정보 및 전송방식" 표준을 적용한 서버와 단말 기능을 개발하였다.

  • 본 고에서는 모바일 망(와이브로, CDMA, WiFi 등)과 유선망에서의 IPTV응용 서비스 개발에 관한 것으로, 모바일 콘텐츠 수용을 하기 위한 플랫폼 기술의 구현사례를 바탕으로 기술하였다. 또한, 모바일 콘텐츠 수용을 위한 IPTV응용서비스 기술을 논하기에 앞서 유선망에서의 IPTV시스템과 서비스에 대하여 설명하였다. 이 설명은 유선과 무선 각각에서의 IPTV기술환경과 서비스를 이해하고 구축하는데 도움을 줄 것이며 또한, 유선과 무선이 융합된 환경하에서 모바일 콘텐츠 수용을 위한 IPTV플랫폼 구축시 고려해야 할 사항들을 살펴보는 기회가 될 것이다.

  • 국내외적으로 IPTV 표준화 및 서비스 기술에 대한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있고, 국제적으로는 Mobile IPTV를 위한 새로운 기술 개발 및 관련 표준 기술을 선점하기 위해 경쟁이 치열하게 전개되고 있다. 하지만 콘텐츠 다양화와 대량화는 사용자에게 원하는 콘텐츠를 발견할 수 있는 가능성만을 제공할 뿐 사용자가 원하는 콘텐츠를 검색하는데 많은 시간과 노력을 낭비 하게 한다는 문제점이 있다. 이에 본 과제는 온톨로지를 활용하여 Mobile IPTV 관련 기술 연구를 기반으로 효율적인 Mobile IPTV 서비스를 위한 콘텐츠 추천 시스템과 사용자 선호에 따른 온톨로지 구축을 제안한다.

Effects of Functional Attributes of IPTV Service on the Purchase Intention (IPTV 서비스의 기능적 속성이 채택의도에 미치는 영향)

  • In this paper we consider Internet Protocol Tele-Vision (IPTV) Service that started recently in Korea. IPTV makes it possible to watch high quality TV programs and a lot of multimedia contents with TV by way of Internet. The service providers are interested in the factors that influence the diffusion of new service such as IPTV. We therefore search the functional-attribute that would influence the acceptance of IPTV service, and propose a model for analyzing the relationship between the attributes and the intention of buying. The model is based on the extended Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). Survey results show that the significant functional attributes influencing the intention of buying are contents variety and convenience.

  • This study includes literature research and empirical study with the subject of experts in order to anticipate the direction of IPTV evolution, the extension of customer needs, and the technology related to needs themselves. According to the results of the study, it is expected that IPTV will evolve as a converged media platform that integrates the demands of communication, information, and entertainment; and the customer needs for IPTV will be extended from the basic needs for previous TV(high quality and low cost) to 4A(Any Time, Any Where, Any Contents, Any Device) needs. In particular, as the IPTV evolves, the needs for customization(Any Contents needs) will be regarded most importantly among the 4A needs; this implies that what matters is how contents are created and distributed in order for the IPTV to take priority in competition afterwards.

A Study on the IPTV Usage and Service Satisfaction (IPTV 수용자의 이용행태와 서비스 만족도에 대한 연구)

  • Since the inception of Internet Protocol TV's real-time service on January, 2009, technological challenges and lack of content diversity of IPTV have been cited as problem areas. While past researches focused on IPTV's technological, industrial and policy facets, this research surveyed the viewers' viewing and usage patterns, and the level of service satisfaction among actual audiences of MegaTV, SKBroadband, and LGTV since January. The results show that subscription fee and content types were the two dominant determinants in audience's choice of a particular IPTV company. The high users of IPTV were on average aged between 30-39, and women tended to be heavier users than men. The surveyed audience also regarded IPTV to be more similar to the Internet than any other medium such as Cable TV and Satellite TV. IPTV audience cited 'lifestyle service' and 'additional service' offerings to be highly relevant to their usage and satisfaction; interactive service and educational service also showed high correlation to usage and satisfaction. The most watched contents on IPTV were domestic TV series, followed by foreign movies and variety shows. 'Fees for additional features,' 'lack of real-time terrestrial TV service', and 'lack of content variety' were the major areas of concern for IPTV viewers. They answered that the monthly fee was the most important factor in the selection of IPTV. Use of pay-per-view contents and add-on interactive service fees were also seen as problematic. With regards to future usage, the IPTV audience revealed that they were very sensitive and reluctant to pay for additional services. While existing researches concentrated on IPTV's technological problems and lack of content diversity, this study illuminated the more pragmatical side of the viewers, namely, the importance of price in audience's selection of an IPTV service provider. From these results, it is recommended that, before doing anything else, the service providers try to meet the audience's expected price points in order to garner the full potential of IPTV and the attendant mass audience.

A comparison study on characteristics of IPTV and digital CATV subscribers (IPTV가입자와 디지털 CATV가입자의 특성비교에 관한 연구)

  • The object of study is to compare the characteristics of IPTV (Internet protocol television) subscribers and digital CATV (Community antenna television) subscribers. We used the adjusted residuals. We did gang survey for 100 subscribers in Seoul, Kyeonggi or Incheon regions. Compared to digital CATV, IPTV seems to have appropriate contents for interactive services and high satisfaction level for cost, but high dissatisfaction level for channels. Digital CATV subscribers would know and subscribe passively, compared to IPTV subscribers. IPTV subscribers are more satisfied than digital CATV subscribers even though IPTV is higher cost. Main content of digital CATV is sports, which is not interactive contents. People think IPTV is an innovative service which let subscribers see wanted contents always, but digital CATV is an extension of CATV. So digital CATV cannot use advantages of interactive services. Even though two services are almost same, they are very different in recognition.

  • Web2.0의 고도화와 소셜미디어의 진화에 따라 웹 기반 콘텐츠에 대한 다양한 활용이 시도되고 있다. 또한, IPTV 부분에서는 기존의 TV기반에서 Web기반, Mobile기반 서비스로 확산되고 있다. 이러한 멀티디바이스 환경과 웹기반 콘텐츠의 IPTV 활용 서비스를 위해서는 콘텐츠에 대한 정의와 이를 표현하기 위한 메타데이터에 대한 정의가 필요하다. 이를 위해서 관련 표준화 단체를 분석한 후 이들이 제공하는 콘텐츠 메타데이터의 연관관계를 비교 분석하였다. IPTV 서비스를 위한 콘텐츠 메타데이터는 TV AnyTime Phase1 을 바탕으로 각 표준기구의 네트워크 상황과 서비스 방식에 따라 선택적으로 적용하고 있으며, VOD 서비스를 위해서는 CableLab의 ADI 메타데이터를 적용하고 있다. 향후 멀티디바이스 환경에서 IPTV 서비스를 위해서는 메타데이터에 대한 확장 연구가 필요하다.
