MIPv4/MIPv6 Mobility Simulation Model of the Multihomed Node (멀티홈드 노드의 MIPv4/MIPv6 이동성 시뮬레이션 모델)

  • Nowadays, the multihomed host equipped with multiple network interfaces has been interested research in next generation wireless network, because the mobile users expect that they can be able to access services not only anywhere, at any time and from any network but also simultaneously. This paper addresses the mobility simulation model of the multihomed node for supporting MIPv4 and MIPv6 function in an interworking of Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX) and IEEE 802.11 WLAN. The multihomed node with two air interfaces has been developed based on WiMAX and WLAN workstation node model in simulation software. The main point of the developed model is to support both MIPv4 and MIPv6 function, and provide network selection policy for the multihomed node between WiMAX and WLAN network. Based on the received Router Advertisement along with the interface number, we can manage the access interfaces in ordered list to make handover decision while the multihomed node is moving. In the end of this paper, the simulation scenarios and results are shown for testing MIPv4 and MIPv6 function.

A Study on Users' Perception on the Reallocation of 700MHz Spectrum After Digital Transition of Terrestrial Broadcasting (지상파 방송의 디지털 전환 완료 이후 700MHz대역 주파수 재배치에 대한 이용자 인식 연구)

  • This study investigates the users' preference of frequency reallocation and frequency auction after digital transition of terrestrial broadcasting and it focuses on the relationships between media using pattern, reception environment of broadcasting telecommunication, and expectation for the universal service and requirement for the public interest. The results show that the longer DMB viewing hours, people prefer to frequency allocation for the telecommunication side. The technical aspects such as perception on the reception environment of broadcasting don't make effect on the users' preference of frequency allocation. In addition, the more people think the universal service of terrestrial broadcasting important, the more people think it unnecessary to adopt auction system to the broadcasting frequency. These results give implication that it is the most basic condition to improve the reception environment in order to accomplish universal service duty of terrestrial broadcasting.

  • In modern society, development of medical technology has extended the human life span. However, it has also caused some side-effects. Mostly old people who live alone are not available the medical service quickly when they are in emergency situations. Moreover heart related diseases as well are rapidly increasing with aging. This study proposes the emergency medical alarm system. This system measures the physiological signals such as ECG(electrocardiogram), temperature, and motion data, analyzes those data automatically, and sends the urgent message to the Emergency Medical Center and to their family. There are two main parts in the system. In the first part, physiological data acquisition part, the troublesome addition and deletion of body signals on existing proposed systems have been supplemented, which led to the modulized production by means of ECG sensor module, temperature sensor module, acceleration sensor module. The other part is mobile unit, which includes signal processing and transmission functions. And bluetooth allows two parts to communicate with each other. Data that are processed in the mobile unit are stored in the PC database through the WLAN using TCP/IP protocol.

  • Patent strategy research has focused on the efficiency of licensing for investigation, analysis and utilization of application management, product and development task in finding patent idea, to establish patent strategy linked with management strategy and technology strategy. However, it is difficult to find the research on patent strategy that reflects an adaptive culture to enhance the internalization and performance of the established strategy. As a result, companies have been striving to imitate patent strategies of advanced companies that do not consider their industry and organizational culture. This study proposes a method of defining a firm 's patent strategy according to the competing value model that analyzes organizational culture as four frameworks. This study verifies the classification method through case studies, suggests a suitable patent strategy for the patent strategy type. This study has contributions in that discussing from a new point of view based on organizational culture theory and providing a IP strategic model with high practicality.

Performance Evaluation of PEP based TCP Splitting Scheme in Satellite Communication Systems (위성 통신 시스템에서 TCP연결 분할 기반 PEP의 성능 평가)

  • A satellite communication system is one of viable solutions for Internet applications running in wide areas. However, the performance of TCP can be seriously degraded in the satellite networks due to long round-trip time (RTT) and high bit error rate (BER) over satellite links. Therefore, a performance enhancing proxy(PEP) based TCP splitting connection scheme is used in the satellite link to improve the TCP performance. In this paper, we implement PEP testbed and conduct experiment to evaluate the performance of TCP splitting connection by comparing with high-speed TCP solutions in various environments. In our experimental environment, we consider multiple connections, high packet loss, and limited bandwidth. The experiment results show that PEP improves the TCP throughput than high-speed TCP variants in various environments. However, there is no improvement of the TCP throughput with the limited bandwidth because there is packet loss caused by both the congestion and the channel error.

  • A guard lamp system has been installed at the PV positive center, located at Gwangju in Korea. Digital environment that is represented to internet is displacing business way of industry and business achievement way with the fast speed being giving great change on life whole, improve existence business process utilizing internet and Web connection technology, information superhighway to tradition industrialist manufacture and e-transformation's propulsion that wish to maximize productivity and administration efficiency is spread vigorously. In this paper, we wish to accomplish generation equipment's heighten stability and believability through remote monitoring and control of guard lamp system. This paper describes the design of the monitoring system for the sensing data and indirect controlling of the guard lamp system. Most of the conventional monitoring systems depend on the special hardware and software. The essential design of monitoring system is to provide the convenience for the user and the portability for the system. In order for the system to fulfill its requirements, it was designed using Labview GUI facility based on the Windows 2000 environment of IBM PC compatible and Add-on card based on the TCP/IP protocol. Advantage of the monitoring system are a personnel expenses curtailment effect, of the place restriction and unmanned system of the generation plants, etc..

A Fast Handoff Algorithm for IEEE 802.11 WLANs using Dynamic Scanning Time (가변적인 탐색시간을 이용한 IEEE 802.11 무선랜의 고속 핸드오프 알고리듬)

  • As the Internet usage grows, people want to access the Internet while they are moving. To satisfy this requirement economically, IEEE 802.11 Wireless LANs(WLANs) are rapidly deployed. In order to support mobility, WLANs must provide smooth handoff mechanism. Recent studies show, however, handoff delay of WLANs exceeds 300ms, most of which is due to slow scanning mechanism finding a new AP. With this handoff delay, current WLANs is not suitable to provide seamless realtime interactive services such as VoIP sevice. In this paper, we analyze the current handoff method of IEEE 802.11 and we propose a new handoff algorithm which can decrease time needed for searching a new AP and thus reduce overall handoff time. We show by simulation that the proposed algorithm has shorter handoff delay than current handoff method.

  • The thesis suggests hand-held equipment to overhaul for mobile TFT LCD/OLED module of high-performance. The established module equipment to overhaul could distinguish outputting video data to module for distinguishing flicker, but it is impossible with low system. In this thesis, supporting system could check the various supplement functions from bringing equipment to overhaul without changing design of FPGA or H/W the module various size for equipment to overhaul for module of high-performance coincidently. The system includes hand-held equipment to overhaul, test software embedded and software a base personal computer and have designed to output, save, and certify all contents of module test of hand-held equipment to overhaul to interface universal serial bus. Setting up 9 items that represent for efficient verification of the proposed system have been possible confirmation with TFT LCD/OLED module of high-performance, establishment scan time, creation gamma, changing register, supporting interface, and multi inch modules.

Implementation of Next Generation DSL Networks (차세대 DSL망의 구현 방안)

  • Most of the existing legacy DSL networks, about 80 million lines world-widely, adopted ‘ATM(Asynchronous Transfer Mode) over DSL’protocol architecture for the effective interworking with the ATM-based regional backbone networks and for the effective support of native ATM-based multimedia application services. Recently, however, the regional backbone networks are moving towards Metro Ethernet networks, instead of the ATM networks, and most of the current multimedia applications are If-based, not native ATM-based. These environmental changes push the architecture of DSL networks to be accordingly changed, and the‘Ethernet over DSL’protocol architecture, instead of existing‘ATM over DSL’, is tried to be applied to the implementation of next generation DSL networks such as VDSL(Very high-rate DSL) . In this paper, we propose two different implementation models for next generation DSL networks in Metro Ethernet backbone environments, respectively EA(Ethernet-to-ATM) implementation model and RE(Ethernet-to-Ethernet) implementation model. And, a comparative analysis focused on the performance and the backward compatability with the legacy DSL networks will be presented.

An Inference Method of Stateless Firewall Policy Considering Attack Detection Threshold (공격 탐지 임계값을 고려한 비상태기반 방화벽 정책 추론 방법)

  • Inferring firewall policy is to discover firewall policy by analyzing response packets as results of active probing without any prior information. However, a brute-force approach for generating probing packets is unavailable because the probing packets may be regarded as attack traffic and blocked by attack detection threshold of a firewall. In this paper, we propose a firewall policy inference method using an efficient probing algorithm which considers the number of source IP addresses, maximum probing packets per second and interval size of adjacent sweep lines as inference parameters to avoid detection. We then verify whether the generated probing packets are classified as network attack patterns by a firewall, and present the result of evaluation of the correctness by comparing original firewall policy with inferred firewall policy.
