  • In this paper, a novel MBE (Model Based target size Estimator) is presented for SDIIR (Strap Down Imaging Infrared) seekers. The target tracking requires the target size information for which residual range between target and missile should be provided. Unfortunately, in general, the missile with passive sensor such as IIR (Imaging Infrared), CCD (Coupled Charging Device) cannot obtain range information. To overcome the problem, the proposed method enables the SDIIR seeker to estimates target size by using target size model and track the target. The performance of proposed method is tested at IIR target tracking of target intercept scenario. The experiment results show that the proposed algorithm has the relatively good performance.

  • In a target tracking system using image information from a CCD (Charged Couple Device) or an IIR (Imaging Infra-red) sensor, occluded targets can result in track losses. If the target is occlued by background objects such as buildings or trees, probability of track existence will be reduced sharply and track will be terminated due to track maintenance algorithms. This paper proposes data association algorithm based on target existence for the robust tracking performance. we suggest the HPDA (Highest Probability Data Association) algorithm based on target existence and the tracking performance is compared with the established method based on target perceivability. Image tracking simulation that utilizes virtual 3D images and real IR images is employed to evaluate the robustness of the proposed tracking algorithm.

  • We discuss the design of a radiometer using a millimeterwave(Ka-band) seeker. We applied a total power radiometer, thus the radiometer is composed of a IF-drive amp, band-pass filter, detector and an Op-amp additionally. As a radiometer measure a radiated signal of an object which is noise-like, a radiometer is easily affected by the variance of system temperature. To mitigate an adverse effect, we propose a compensation method in a radiometer without brightmess temperature compensation circuits. Through some experiments such like a distinction a target and the background, we have verified that the designed radiometer system has distingushed a car from the ground completely.

  • The small tracking radar is a very important component of the wire harness design because the components are organically connected. In addition, the cable connected to the signal processing unit and the servo unit having a large number of digital signals should be prepared to prevent the CPU of the signal processing unit from malfunctioning due to electromagnetic noise. Cables for signal transmission in the ◯◯ GHz band must reflect the design of temperature, vibration, and shock. To design a wire harness in a small space, the size of the connector must be minimized. The issues to be considered are described and the design plan is presented.

  • The hyper-spectral image is data obtained by dividing the electromagnetic wave band in the infrared region into hundreds of wavelengths. It is used to find or classify objects in various fields. Recently, deep learning classification method has been attracting attention. In order to use hyper-spectral image data as deep learning training data, a processing technique is required compared to conventional visible light image data. To solve this problem, we developed a software that selects specific wavelength images from the hyper-spectral data cube and performs the ground truth task. We also developed software to manage data including environmental information. This paper describes the configuration and function of the software.

  • When testing various images outdoors with an infrared imaging system, it is necessary to save the tested images for comparison. In addition, after the test, it should be possible to easily connect to the PC and download the stored data. With the recent development of the memory system, it is possible to design an infrared image storage board for an outdoor test by using the eMMC memory that can be easily used in the form of an on board. In this paper, we describe the design of a portable image storage board that can easily store and download infrared images, and describe the GUI program that can connect to a PC and download the stored images.

  • A small millimeter-wave tracking radar is a pulse radar that searches, detects, and tracks a target in real time through a TWS (Track While Scan) method on a sea-going traps target with a large RCS running at low speed. This paper describes the development of a simulated signal generator to verify the performance of a small millimeter wave tracking radar in laboratory anechoic chamber environment. We describe a GUI program for testing and performance analysis in conjunction with hardware configuration and tracking radar, and verified the simulated signal generator implemented through performance test.

  • A small infrared image homing system is a tracking system that has an infrared image sensor that identifies a target through the day and night infrared image processing of the target on the ground and searches for and detects the target with respect to the main target. This paper describes the development of a board equipped with a high-speed CPU and FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) to identify target through real-time image processing by acquiring target information through infrared image. • Infrared scenes usually contain also spectral information which cannot be resolved using normal single-band infrared cameras. Multispectral infrared imaging cameras give access to the comprehensive information contained within infrared scenes. A Dual-band infrared Camera, a type of multispectral infrared imaging cameras, has the advantage of simple system. A Dual-band Infrared Camera gives access to the spectral information as wells as the temperature information within infrared scenes. Multispectral imaging generally increases the detection and identification performance of a Dual-band Infrared Camera. This paper describes a design of an infrared Camera using a Dual-band Infrared Detector to simultaneously receive infrared radiation from the medium-wave infrared/long-wave infrared(MWIR/LWIR) bands.
