본 논문에서는 연속된 모션 프레임의 효과적인 단순화를 매우 효율적으로 수행시킬 수 있는 점진적 모션 (progressive motion) 기법을 제안하고 실험 결과를 설명한다. 제안된 점진적 모션 기법에서는 효과적인 단순화를 위하여 인접한 두 모션간의 차이를 측정하는 수식을 정의하고 모션 LOD (level of detail)를 효율적으로 처리하기 위하여 모션 차이가 최소인 두 모션을 차례대로 병합하고 역으로 병합된 모션을 분해하는 기법을 사용하였다. 이 방법은 모션 편집 등에서 매우 빠른 속도로 모션 LOD를 제공하며 임의의 캐릭터의 실시간 시뮬레이션에서 효과적인 단순화 기법으로 적용될 수 있는 잠재력을 가지고 있다.

Aim: We conducted a prospective study in an Chinese population to detect associations of GSTM, GSTT and GSTP polymorphisms with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), and analyze roles in determining survival outcome. Methods: A prospective follow-up study was conducted with 476 HCC patients and 481 controls collected from May 2005 to May 2007. All patients were followed up until the end of Dec. 2011. GSTM1, GSTT1 and GSTP1 genotyping were performed by PCR-CTPP methods. Results: Null GSTM1 carriers had a 1.64 fold risk of HCC compared with non-null genotype, while GSTP1 Val/Val carriers had a 93% increased risk over the GSTP1 IIe/IIe genotype. The median follow-up time for the 476 patients was 34.2 months (range: 1 to 78 months). Individuals with null GSTM1 genotype had better survival of HCC than non-null genotype carriers (HR=0.71, 95%CI=0.45-0.95). Similarly, GSTP1 Val/Val genotypes had significant better survival than the GSTP1 IIe/IIe genotype (HR=0.34, 95%CI=0.18-0.65). Individuals carrying null GSTM1 and GSTP1 Val/Val who received chemotherapy had lower risk of death from HCC than those without chemotherapy. Conclusion: This study indicated carriage of null GSTM1 and GSTP1 Val/Val genotypes to have roles in susceptibility to and survival from HCC.

Electrochemical characteristics of a graphite/lithium and a $LiCoO_2/lithium$ half cell and a $graphite/LiCoO_2$ full cell were analyzed using a GCSOC (gradual control test of the state of charge) technique. The IIE (initial intercalation coulombic efficiency), which represents lithium intercalation property of the electrode material, and the $lIC_s$ (initial irreversible capacity by the surface), which represents irreversible reaction between the electrode surface and the electrolyte were obtained from the GCSOC analysis. Linear-fittable capacity ranges of IIE of graphite and $LiCoO_2$ electrodes were 370 and 150 mAh/g, respectively, based on material weight. The value of lIE for graphite and $LiCoO_2$ electrodes were $93-94\%$ and $94-95\%$, respectively. The value of IICs for graphite and $LiCoO_2$ electrodes were 15-17 mAh/g and 0.3-1.7 mAh/g, respectively. The value of IIE for $graphite/LiCoO_2$ full cell, used GX25 and DJG311 as a graphite, was $89-90\%$ that lower than that for the half cells. Parameters of IIE and IICs can also be used to represent not only half cell but also full cell.

From January 1970 through December 1984, 15 patients with sinonasal Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma combined to the head and neck were treated by external irradiation.13 patients were stage It and 2 were stage IIE by Ann Arbor Classification. However, when using TNM system, 7 were locally advanced T3, T4 lesions. All patients had follow up from 3.7 to 16 years with the median follow-up of 8.5 years. The overall actuarial 5-year survival rates were $25\%,\;28\%$ for IE and $0\%$ for IIE. Total tumor dose varied from 40 to 68 Gy. $100\%$ complete response with a total tumor dose of more than 55 Gy and $73\%$ complete response with less than 55Gy. When the disease was staged using the TNM (AJC) system, the five-year disease free survival for T1 and T2 patients was $50\%$ as compared with $14\%$ for T3 and T4. Failure rate by stage was $33\%(2/6)$ for T1 and T2, $86\%(6/7)$ for T3 and T4, and $100\%$(2/2) for IIE. The results suggest that 1. Higher CR could be obtained with a total tuner dose of more than 55 Gy. 2. Use of TNM staging system is as important as Ann arbor in management of sinonasal NHL. 3. The addition of combination chemotherapy should be considered for T3, T4 and IIE the sinonasal Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma although the disease is limited to head and neck.

The effects of ethanol fractions of three different rice grain extracts, Jakwangchalbyeo, Hwasunchalbyeo, and Ilpumbyeo, on apoptotic cell death in the rat hepatoma H4IIE cell line were investigated using the MTT [3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide] cell viability assay. One hundred mg/mL Jakwangchalbyeo extract significantly reduced cell viability to 69.5, 57.2, and 46.1% within 24, 48, and 72 hr, respectively. Fluorescence-activated cell sorting (FACS) analyses were also performed to characterize the cell death pattern caused by treatment with the rice grain extracts. Apoptotic cell death was clearly observed with time after treatment with the Jakwangchalbyeo extract. In Western blotting analysis, degradation of the 116 kDa poly-ADP-ribose polymerase (PARP) molecule was observed with concomitant formation of an 89 kDa product 24, 48, and 72 hr after treating cells with the Jakwangchalbyeo extract. This indicates that an apoptotic process caused cell death in these cells. In conclusion, red-pericarp Jakwangchalbyeo extract induced apoptotic cell death in H4IIE cells to a larger extent than the other rice extracts.

Metformin is the most widely used anti-diabetic drug that helps maintain normal blood glucose levels primarily by suppressing hepatic gluconeogenesis in type II diabetic patients. We previously found that metformin induces apoptotic death in H4IIE rat hepatocellular carcinoma cells. Despite its anti-diabetic roles, the effect of metformin on hepatic de novo lipogenesis (DNL) remains unclear. We investigated the effect of metformin on hepatic DNL and apoptotic cell death in H4IIE cells. Metformin treatment stimulated glucose consumption, lactate production, intracellular fat accumulation, and the expressions of lipogenic proteins. It also stimulated apoptosis but reduced autophagic responses. These metformin-induced changes were clearly reversed by compound C, an inhibitor of AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK). Interestingly, metformin massively increased the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS), which was completely blocked by compound C. Metformin also stimulated the phosphorylation of p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (p38MAPK). Finally, inhibition of p38MAPK mimicked the effects of compound C, and suppressed the metformin-induced fat accumulation and apoptosis. Taken together, metformin stimulates dysregulated glucose metabolism, intracellular fat accumulation, and apoptosis. Our findings suggest that metformin induces excessive glucose-induced DNL, oxidative stress by ROS generation, activation of AMPK and p38MAPK, suppression of autophagy, and ultimately apoptosis.

A new interacting multiple model (IMM) method using intelligent input estimation (IIE) is proposed to track a maneuvering target. In the proposed method, the acceleration level for each sub-model is determined by IIE-the estimation of the unknown acceleration input by a fuzzy system using the relation between maneuvering filter residual and non-maneuvering one. The genetic algorithm (GA) is utilized to optimize a fuzzy system for a sub-model within a fixed range of acceleration input. Then, multiple models are composed of these fuzzy systems, which are optimized for different ranges of acceleration input. In computer simulation for an incoming ballistic missile, the tracking performance of the proposed method is compared with those of the input estimation (IE) technique and the adaptive interacting multiple model (AIMM) method.

Identification of meaningful patterns and trends in large volumes of text data is an important task in various research areas. In the present study we crawled the keywords from the abstracts in IIE Transactions, one of the representative journals in the field of Industrial Engineering from 1969 to 2011. We applied low-dimensional embedding method, clustering analysis, association rule, and social network analysis to find meaningful associative patterns of key words frequently appeared in the paper.
