  • 최근의 컴퓨터 네트워킹 환경에서 무선 멀티미디어 응용 서비스에 대한 사용자의 요구는 날로 증가하고 있다. 그러므로 사용자에게 원활한 서비스를 제공위해서 QoS 보장을 위한 무선 네트워크 프로토콜의 설계는 중요하다. 본 논문에서는 무선 인터넷에서 QoS를 보장하기 위한 표준인 IEEE 802.11e[1]의 문제점들을 분석하고, Multi-Hop Ad Hoc Network에서 성능 향상을 위하여 Single-channel Jamming 신호를 기반으로 한 SJMAC(Sing1e-channel Jamming MAC) 프로토콜을 설계하고, NS2 모듈을 구현한 후에 성능 평가를 하였다. 기존 IEEE 802.11e과의 성능 비교를 위하여 NS2 (Network Simulator2)[2]에 SJMAC 모듈을 추가하여 제안된 프로토콜의 성능을 검증한다.

  • 급변하는 컴퓨터 네트워킹 환경에서 이동화에 따른 무선통신의 비중이 날로 더해지고 있다. 본 논문에서는 무선 인터넷 프로토콜 표준인 IEEE 802.11의 문제점들을 분석하고, Multi-Hop Ad Hoc Network에서 성능 향상을 위하여 Single-channel Jamming 신호를 기반으로 한 SJMAC(Single-channel Jamming MAC) 프로토콜을 설계하고, NS2 모듈을 구현한 후에 성능 평가를 하였다. 기존 IEEE 802.11과의 성능 비교를 위하여 NS2 (Network Simulator2)[1]에 SJMAC 모듈을 추가하여 제안된 프로토콜의 성능을 검증한다.

  • 가정, 기업, 오피스 및 공공장소에서의 폭넓은 무선 데이터 서비스 사용에 따라 거대한 영향력과 시장성을 갖게 될 차세대 WLAN 기술 및 시스템에 대한 관심이 더욱 높아지고 있다. 본고에서는 IEEE 802.11의 표준 기술 및 표준화 진행 중인 개발 기술들에 대해 살펴본다. WLAN을 기반으로 하는 IEEE 802.11의 간략한 history와 배경뿐만 아니라, IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ad 등의 기술적인 부분을 요약하여 개발 현황을 알아보고, 확보된 기술을 통한 시장 상태와 차세대 기술개발을 통한 시장동향을 논의한다.

Slotted Transmission: A New MAC Scheme for Reduced Frame Latency in Ad-hoc Networks

  • The IEEE 802.11 DCF forces neighboring nodes of an active transmitter to switch into inactive state. This conservative nature brings frame latency at transmitter neighborhood. This work exploits the IEEE 802.11n Frame Aggregation scheme to allow simultaneous transmissions from nodes that are neighbors to each-other. This is accomplished by the synchronization of control and data transmissions in slots of fixed length. Proposed scheme reduces the frame latency and improves aggregated network throughput.

Efficient MAC Protocol for Achieving Fairness in Wireless Ad-hoc Networks under the DCF (Wireless Ad-hoc 망의 DCF환경에서 Fairness 구현을 위한 효과적인 MAC 프로토콜)

  • This paper proposes simple and effective Contention Window (CW) adjusting algorithm to solve the fairness problem of the IEEE 802.11 under the Distributed Coordination Function (DCF). This adjusting algorithm can support variable packet length as well as both RTS/CTS access method and hidden nodes. Simulation results show that fairness problem can be very severe in the original MAC protocol of the wireless network. In case of implement our algorithm, fair sharing was enlarged prominently and the fairness sharing was improved about maximum 30%.

  • In order to provide high data rate and real time services under maritime environment, link-level performance of ship ad-hoc network (SANET) based on 3GPP LTE and IEEE 802.11p (WAVE) specifications are investigated and discussed in this paper. The measured maritime channel, whose delay spread is longer than the length of guard interval (GI) of both 3GPP LTE and IEEE 802.11p specifications, is adopted for the link-level simulations. For the purpose of eliminating inter-symbol interference (ISI) due to insufficient GI length, double antenna pattern (DAP) scheme and advanced time-domain decision-feedback equalizer (DFE) are proposed for LTE and WAVE systems, respectively. The proposed DFE removes the ISI in a same manner as the residual inter-symbol interference cancellation (RISIC) algorithm, but the inter-carrier interference (ICI) is reduced via cyclicity removal instead of cyclicity restoration used in the RISIC algorithm. Compared with existing schemes, our proposed DFE is a robust technique to overcome the severe ISI channel which has a comparatively large delay spread. Based on simulation results, not only comparisons between systems are discussed, but also some reformative suggestions are given.

  • Vehicular Ad-hoc Network the core technology of ITS supports safety service or information service to driver and passenger on the roads utilizing V2V and V2I communication. WAVE, the standard of the vehicular ad hoc networks, adopts IEEE 802.11p as MAC protocol and includes the channel coordination algorithm to utilize multiple channels. However, this standard shows the problem related with QoS guarantee of urgent data for driver's safety and the limitation of the performance improvement. In this paper, we introduce WAVE-based Multi-channel MAC protocols that have proposed to resolve above problems and describe their features.

  • In this paper, we discuss the design of the Digital Down Converters for the IEEE 802.11 wireless LAN receiver, which can be used for the customized receiver. The customized receiver can be used for special puropsed services which cannot be realized using the general custom chip. In the OFDM receiver, DDC receives the up sampled Inphase/Quadrature signal from the AD converter and process down sampling and filtering procedures using the Cascaded Intergrator Filter and FIR filters. We discuss the structure and design methodology of DDC's and analyze the simulation results.

  • Being different from traditional mobile communication networks or wireless LAN with access points, ad hoc network can provide direct communications between homogeneous stations. Thus, it can be considered as a much advanced network. Somehow, many researches have been done to enhance system performance of ad hoc networks up to now, one of which is cooperative communications. In this paper, a cooperative MAC protocol, called CO-MAC protocol, is proposed and its performance is evaluated with a mathematical approach. Numerical results show that this scheme provides more enhanced system throughput especially when frame transmission error probability is high than DCF scheme, which is the key protocol in IEEE 802.11 standard, and rDCF scheme.

  • In ad-hoc network, the most of existing packet scheduling schemes provides throughput-based fairness. To provide throughput-based fairness, it basically supposes that the channel capacity is fixed. But, the supposing that the channel capacity is fixed is not appropriate because IEEE 802.11b and 802.11g which are normally used for organizing ad-hoc network can provide various data rate according to channel conditions. So, we define time-based fairness for each flow to consider multi-rate and suggest the MRADPS reaching the defined time-based fairness. Simulation result shows that MRADPS improves the total network throughput in ad-hoc network with providing time-based fairness to each flow.
