A Study on the Harmonics Measurement, Assessment and Resonant Filter Application of the Electric Arc Furnace Loads (전기로 부하의 고조파 측정, 평가 및 동조필터 적용에 관한 연구)

  • Large steel industries have nonlinear loads including electric arc furnaces. These nonlinear loads generate harmonic currents and create distortions on the sinusoidal voltage of the power system. This paper provides an in depth analysis on harmonics field measurement of the electric arc furnace loads, adding a single-tuned filter at the customer bus for reducing harmonic distortion and harmonics assessment by the international harmonic standards IEC 61000-3-6 and IEEE Std. 519. The EDSA program was used as a simulation tool for the case study.

  • Network access control should be able to effectively block security threats to the IT infrastructure, such as unauthorized access of unauthorized users and terminals, and illegal access of employees to internal servers. From this perspective, it is necessary to build metrics based on relevant standards to ensure that security is being met. Therefore, it is necessary to organize the method for security evaluation of NAC according to the related standards. Therefore, this study builds a model that combines the security evaluation part of ISO / IEC 15408 (CC: Common Criteria) and ISO 25000 series to develop security metric of network access control system. For this purpose, we analyzed the quality requirements of the network access control system and developed the convergence evaluation metric for security of the two international standards. It can be applied to standardization of evaluation method for network access control system in the future by constructing evaluation model of security quality level of network access control system.

  • The vibration characteristics of railway vehicles are very complex because they are not only dependent on vehicle and track conditions but also on operating conditions. Vibration can cause the failure of rolling stock equipment. To verify that the quality of rolling stock equipment is acceptable, it should be able to withstand vibration tests of reasonable magnitude and duration. There are many standards for vibration and shock tests of equipment in Korea. In this paper, we have reviewed and compared the standards (KS R 9144, R 9146 and IEC 61373) for vibration and shock tests.

A Study on SPC-related KS and KS A ISO 2859-3 (SPC관련 KS의 제개폐 및 KS A ISO 2859-3에 대한 고찰)

  • As a result of globalization process and TBT agreement, KS is also being revised, reestablished and some are abolished according to international standards such as ISO, IEC, etc. Conventional KS sampling inspection standards contained many different procedures from ISO, but recently, to match with international standards, all the rest of the standards except KS A 3102, 3104, 3151 were abolished, and the even the ones being in use still are also scheduled and be revised. Especially, KS A 3101, KS A 3105, KS A 3109, which were used most frequently in Korea were abolished, and the KS A ISO $2859-0\~3$ which coincide with ISO standards were established 3 years ago, but the implementation rate is very slow. Starting next year the national examination for qualification process for the product quality related item will the started and the preparation is underway. This study will investigate the recent sampling inspection process of KS as well as SPC related KS overhaul problem and present the data to help workers in SPC related field. One of the main example will be on KS A ISO 2859-3 and will attempt to help those medium and small sized companies with examples.

  • Electric motor systems account for more than half of all electric systems and the amount of energy consumption of those is almost 70 percent of total energy consumption of electric motor systems in industry. As electric motor systems are very responsible for global electricity savings and environment protection. Many international organizations are supporting standards and policy development processes to improve the efficiency of electric motor systems. Many standards are being developed at technical committee of IEC that has been required in order to support the implementation of efficiency regulations. High efficiency standards and levels for electric motor systems are slowly being introduced and compulsory in many countries. Therefore understanding the international efficiency evaluation standards and the regulation of electric motor systems of each country is important. This paper presents the current status and trends of international evaluation standards and regulations about the efficiency of electric motor systems.

Fuzzy Logic Application in Fault Diagnosis of Transformers Using Dissolved Gases

  • One of the problems with the fault diagnosis of transformers based on dissolved gas is the inability to match the result of the different standards of fault diagnosis with real world standards. In this paper, the results of the different standards are analyzed using fuzzy logic and then compared with the empirical test. The proposed method is based on the standards and guidelines of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), the Central Electric Generating Board (CEGB), and the American Society for Testing and Material (ASTM) and its main task is to assist the conventional gas ratio method. The comparison between the suggested method and existing methods indicates the capability of the suggested method in the on-line fault diagnosis of transformers. In addition, in some cases the existing standards are not able to diagnose the fault. For theses instances, the presented method has the potential of diagnosing the fault. In this paper, the information of three real transformers is used to show the capability of the suggested method in diagnosing the fault. The results validate the capability of the presented method in fault diagnosis of the transformer.

Development of on-board ATC system for Maglev Vehicle (자기부상 차량용 차상신호장치 개발)

  • This paper gives an overview and developing status of the on-board Automatic Train Control (ATC) System employed to control the Urban Maglev vehicle in Korea. In the construction of demonstration line for Urban Maglev Program, the Daewoo Engineering Company (DEC) has participated as a supplier of the whole ATC System since 2009. According to the contract with Korea Rail Network Authority, DEC is under progress for the development of the whole ATC system including Safety Integration Level (SIL) assessment from the ISA, which is followed by the international standards IEC62278, IEC62279, and EN50129. Once the Urban Maglev Program is completed successfully in 2013, the developed system will be the first localized whole ATC system which has SIL assessment and commercial operation experience in Korea.

  • 국제적으로 차단기의 성능평가에 가장 광범위하게 적용되고 있는 IEC와 IEEE는 단락고장회로에 대한 차단성능평가 기준의 핵심 요소인 과도회복전압(TRV)을 서로 다른 방법으로 규정하고 있었다. 따라서 제작자는 신제품으로 개발한 동일한 모델의 차단기에 대하여 구매자의 요구에 대응하기 위하여 두 가지 표준에 대한 형식시험 또는 형식 시험인증을 실시해야하므로 불필요한 경제적 비용을 지불해야만 했다. 이러한 어려움을 해소하기 위해 IEC와 IEEE는 1990년대 말부터 두 규정의 부합화를 위한 개정작업을 진행했다. 이에 따라 2008년에는 완전한 부합화를 이루지는 못했지만 TRV에 관한 규정의 상당부분이 부합화가 되었다. 본 논문에서는 부합화된 주요 부분과 시험방법을 제시하였다.

  • IEC 61970과 IEC 61968 시리즈에 의해 정의되는 CIM은 현재 EMS 내 어플리케이션의 모듈 통신성, transmission system electrical model들의 교환, DMS 구성 서비스를 위한 정보 교환에 적절하다. CIM은 Distribution operation에서 서로 다른 시스템을 가지는 기술적 해석 어플리케이션의 통합 과정을 촉진 시키는 데에 이용될 수 있지만, distribution network의 교환을 더욱 완벽하게 가능하게 하기 위한 모델 개선이 필요하다.

  • Large steel industries have time-varying nonlinear loads such as electric arc furnaces. These nonlinear loads generate harmonic currents and create distortions on the sinusoidal voltage of the power system. The main objective of the static var compensator is to maintain the rms voltage at the point of common coupling within the limit. In this research, harmonic mitigation studies were conducted with and without the SVC, and time-varying harmonics were evaluated according to the international harmonic standards (IEC 61000-3-6 and IEEE Std. 519) using a cumulative probabilistic approach.
