An Effective Crease Detection Method for Feature Information Extraction in Fingerprint Images (지문 영상의 특징 정보 추출을 위한 효율적인 주름선 추출 방법)

  • In this paper, the crease extraction method is proposed to improve the accuracy of feature extraction within the fingerprint image. First of all, for each pixel in fingerprint image, it calculates the average grey level and variance to determine if the current pixel composes the crease, and estimates the direction of crease. Secondly, once the direction of every pixel in crease candidate area is estimated, it is decomposed into 8 different images, depending on their direction. The properties of crease consists of the length of the crease candidate area, the correspondence between the crease direction and the pixel distribution direction, the difference between the ridge direction and the pixel distribution direction, and finally the grey level of the candidate pixels. The proposed method finally extracts the crease from the crease clusters estimated from directional images. In conclusion, applying the proposed method improved the accuracy of overall feature extraction by 91.4% by accurately and precisely extracting the crease from fingerprint image.

Evaluation of Predicted Driving Postures in RAMSIS Digital Human Model Simulation (Digital Human Model Simulation을 위한 RAMSIS 추정 운전자세의 정합성 평가 및 개선)

  • For proper ergonomic evaluation using a digital human model simulation (DHMS) system such as $RAMSIS^{(R)}$, the postures of humanoids for designated tasks need to be predicted accurately. The present study (1) evaluated the accuracy of driving postures of humanoids predicted by RAMSIS, (2) proposed a method to improve its accuracy, and (3) examined the effectiveness of the proposed method. The driving postures of 12 participants in a seating buck were measured by a motion capture system and compared with their corresponding postures predicted by RAMSIS. Significant discrepancies ($8.7^{\circ}$ to $74.9^{\circ}$) between predicted and measured postures were observed for different body parts and driving tasks. Two methods (constraints addition and user-defined posture) were proposed and their effects on posture estimation accuracy were examined. Of the two proposed methods, the user-defined posture method was found preferred, reducing posture estimation errors by 11.5% to 84.9%. Both the posture prediction accuracy assessment protocol and user-defined posture method would be of use for practitioners to improve the accuracy of predicted postures of humanoids in virtual environments.

Efficient 3D Model Retrieval using Discriminant Analysis (판별분석을 이용한 효율적인 3차원 모델 검색)

  • This study established the efficient system that retrieves the 3D model by using a statistical technique called the function of discriminant analysis. This method was suggested to search index, which was formed by the statistics of 128 feature vectors including those scope, minimum value, average, standard deviation, skewness and scale. All of these were sampled with Osada's D2 method and the statistics as a factor effecting a change turned the value of discriminant analytic function into that of index. Through the primary retrieval on the model of query, the class above the top 2% was drawn out by comparing the query with the index of previously saved class from the group of same models. This method was proved an efficient retrieval technique that saved its procedural time. It shortened the retrieval time for 3D model by 57% faster than the existing Osada's method, and the precision that similar models were found in the first place was recorded 0.362, which revealed it more efficient by 44.8%.

  • Islanding phenomenon of utility-connected PV power conditioning systems(PV PCS) can cause a variety of problems and must be prevented. If the real and reactive powers supplied by PV PCS are closely matched to those of load, islanding detection by passive methods becomes difficult. The active frequency drift(AFD) method, called the frequency bias method, enables islanding detection by forcing the frequency of the voltage in the islanding to drift up or down. In this paper, non-detection zone(NDZ) of AFD is analyzed for the islanding detection method of utility-connected PV PCS by simulation tool PSIM.

  • In analysis of deformation in which the stiffness is greatly different between the adjacent materials, the desired results have been obtained by using the interface element method compared with those secured by the conventional method of the concept of continua. However the interface element method was originally developed for the behavior of rocks. This study deals with the deformation analysis of foundation with sand drain by the introduction of interface element. The physical conditions of interface element are devided into three categories by Mohr-Coulomb failure criterion ie. sliding, separation, and contact. Finally the accuracy of the program proposed in this paper is proved highly accurate by performing the comparison of the theoretical values and numerical results of a model element with simplified boundary conditions.

  • In this paper we consider an application of the method of electromagnetic (EM) migration to the interpretation of a typical marine controlled-source (MCSEM) survey consisting of a set of sea-bottom receivers and a moving electrical bipole transmitter. Three-dimensional interpretation of MCSEM data is a very challenging problem because of the enormous number of computations required in the case of the multi-transmitter and multi-receiver data acquisition systems used in these surveys. At the same time, we demonstrate that the MCSEM surveys with their dense system of transmitters and receivers are extremely well suited for application of the migration method. In order to speed up the computation of the migration field, we apply a fast form of integral equation (IE) solution based on the multigrid quasi-linear (MGQL) approximation which we have developed. The principles of migration imaging formulated in this paper are tested on a typical model of a sea-bottom petroleum reservoir.

  • In this paper, we propose a minute signal detection algorithm for a development of optical analyzer, using the non-dispersive infrared method with multi gas filter correlation wheel, that can measure various environmental air-pollution materials (CO, SO2, NOx, etc.) in real-time. The MCT(mercury cadmium telluride) sensor can detect minute signals those show and absorption characteristic of each environmental pollution materials. In the proposed method, a corresponding data of each environmental pollution materials can be separated by an external trigger and threshold values in the measured continuous signals.

  • Back ground : Cerebral palsy(CP) is a static encephalopathy caused by an insult to the brain during the prenatal, perinatal, or postnatal period (ie, up to 2 years). CP can lead to global dysfunction but always includes motor problems Objective : The purpose of this study is to investigate the current tendency of oriental approach to the CP and promote oriental treatment of CP in Korea Method : Investigation of current literature and clinical paper in Korea and Chinese Result and Conclusion : 1) CP fall under the category of wu-chi(five kinds of retardations : 五遲), wu-ruan(five kinds of flaccidity : 五軟), wu-ying(five kinds of Stiffness : 五硬) in oriental medicine and correspond to naoxing-tanhuan in current chinese medicine. 2) CP is mainly caused by weakness of the liver and kidney(肝腎不足), weakness of the spleen and stomach(脾胃虛弱), and the method of treatment is tonify the liver and kidney(補益肝腎), tonify the spleen and replenish qi(補脾益氣), but yu-chi(the faculty of speech : 語遲) is caused by deficiency of the heart(心虛) so that treated with method of invigorating the heart and nourishing blood(補心養血). Recently blood stagnancy the stagnation of qi(氣滯血瘀) is considered as the cause of CP, promoting qi circulation to invigorate blood(行氣活血) is mentioned the treatment of method. 3) In addtion to a herbal medication and acupuncture, the various treatments of scalp acupuncture(頭鍼), acupoint injection(穴位注射), catgut embedding therapy(埋鍼) etc. had been applicated to CP and for the objective evaluation of remedial value, TCD, EEG, BMD have been used.

  • Walking robot is able to move in regular or irregular terrain. It can walk that change adaptive algorithms according to the terrain. Existing papers about adaptive gaits of blind robot are based on intelligent foothold selection. However, this paper proposes a algerian that is based on the variations of stroke and period to adapt the irregular terrain. If thus adaptive algorithms is used, robot can maintain periodic gait walking and constant speed using only force sensor even in the irregular terrain without external sophisticated sensor. In this paper Quadruped robot with 2 DOF in each leg, is walk experiment with the wave gait in regular and irregular terrain. So the adaptive algorithm is proved useful through walk experiment.

  • This Paper provides perceptual metrics for video quality based on properties of human visual system, and audio quality based on human audition. All metrics work without reference signals, allowing non-intrusive, in-service measurements. A simple and easy-to-learn user interface displays the metrics and saves them in popular file formats like CSV. In this paper, proposed method was able to various and corrective measurement for the multimedia service video quality. As that it was able to application to set up service guide line and the methode of measurement and system for the set up standardization of the high quality video service.
