  • The RFID tag IC has been presently abstracting great attention in the world because it can be one of the important sensor elements in the ubiquitous sense network in the future. The 125 kHz and 13.56 MHz RFID tag IC's have already been developed and now widely used in the world and the UHF band tag IC is under development. Domestically, the development of the 125 kHz tag IC was reported before, but there has been no report about the development of the 13.56 MHz tag IC up to now. In this paper, the results of the design, fabrication and measurement of a 13.56 MHz tag IC are discussed. The digital and the analog circuits for the chip were designed and the chip was fabricated using 0.35 ㎛ standard CMOS technology and measured with a separately prepared reader. It was found from the measurement results that it operated properly within 8 cm range of the reader.

  • Since 11 September 2001, the awareness of terrorists' actions has clearly risen. The potential threat of terrorists using containers poses a large risk to our economies and to our societies. In order to protect cargo from damage and terrorist threats, business and government turn to RFID and IC tags, and tradition container is replaced by IC smart container. In this study, presented application of IC tag and future tasks to Container transport by sea in viewpoint of security strengthening. First, realization and international SCM realization structural order that cover container supply chain whole of international standardization and association between industry are certainly needed. Second, it may have to try in technical development for IC tag Ratio that can read elevation moment develop suitable IC tag or reader in International Standard. Third, Need to establish concrete use policy as soon as possible in national dimension at the same time effort for international standard normalization of frequency. Finally, it shows to uses jointly with electron sealing and must solve problem about usable plan and information leak.

  • RFID in which subminiature IC chip with the indentified information is built a core technique that can recognize, trace and manage various information of an object using radio frequency in the age of Ubiquitous. Several pressing matters about an infringement of Privacy and a security of private information should be settled as soon as possible because an information of specific circumstance can be collected and used without any awareness by others as well as a private information. In addition, various algorithms with high level of security, which is normally used in wire, can be hardly applied to RFID tag because of a lot of restrictions of tag. In this report, designed-RFID tag based on the standard of ISO/IEC 18000-6 and the problems which originated from the technical procedure of that design were analyzed, and the algorithm which could be applied to the designed-tag was also investigated.

  • An UHF ($860{\sim}960MHz$) RFID tag antenna is optimized and designed using a genetic algorithm (GA). The tag antenna impedance should be matched to the conjugate of the impedance of the tag IC Chip. The chip impedance has real and capacitive imaginary parts due to the parasitic capacitance of the RFID chip. A GA linked with a commercially available antenna simulation program optimizes the UHF $860{\sim}960\;MHz$ tag antenna to match a commercially available RFID chip. This method shows that any RFID antenna can be designed for any commercial RFID chip with any impedance.

  • In this paper, a fully printed NFC tag operating at 13.56 MHz was designed and fabricated using silver nano-paste and carbon ink. The proposed NFC tag has a printed coil with an inductance of $2.74{\mu}H$ on a PI film for application to an NFC tag IC with an internal capacitance of 50 pF. Screen printing technology used in this paper has advantages such as large area printing for mass production, low cost and eco-friendly process compared to conventional PCB manufacturing process. The proposed structure consists of a circular coil implemented as a single layer using silver nano-paste and carbon ink, a jumper pattern for chip mounting between the outer edge and the center of the coil, and an insulation pattern between the coil and the jumper pattern. In order to verify the performance of the proposed NFC tag, we performed the measurements of the printing line width, thickness, line resistance, adhesion and environmental reliability, and confirmed the suitability of the NFC tag based on the full-printed manufacturing method.

  • Input impedance of UHF RFID tag chip is needed to design a tag. In determining the chip impedance, direct measurement method is adopted commonly. In this paper, problems generated from fixtures that interface between tag chip and coaxial-oriented measurement instrument are investigated and the result of the problems is shown, when the direct measurement method is applied. As an alternative to the method, a modeling method is proposed and its validity and accuracy are shown.

  • The Crab label tag with a loop matching feed and a modified dipole antenna structure was proposed. The antenna impedance is conjugated easily to a radio frequency identification IC chip impedance by a loop matching feed. The reading range of the crab structure tag is 0.9-1.0 m from the upper side of the formula milk can lid. The fabricated label tag size is $44.0{\times}44.0mm^2$. The operating frequency at -3 dB return loss is 861.0-929.0 MHz, and the maximum reading range at the anechoic chamber is 1.5 m.

  • This paper presents a design of the control block of a passive UHF RFID tag IC according to EPCglobal Class-1 Generation-2 UHF RFID 1.1.0 Protocol. The control block includes a PIE block, CRC5/CRC16, a Slot Counter, a Random Number Generator, a Main Control Block, a Encoder and a Memory Interface. The control block has been designed using the Verilog HDL and has been simulated. Functional simulation results for the overall control block operation show that 11 instructions with 7 states are operated correctly. Also, the control block has been implemented with 36,230 gates by Synopsys Design Compiler and Apollo using Magnachip 0.25$\mu$m technology.
