The effect of temperature of cardioplegic solution on myocardial preservation was studied using isolated rat heart perfusion technique. Twenty Sprague-Dawley rats, weighing 120~140gm, were pretreated with intraperitoneal injection of heparin sodium[300u/kg] and then the hearts were excised after cervical herniation 30 minutes later. The hearts were perfused in isolated working heart apparatus with oxygenated modified Tyrode solution at 37oC. After 10 minutes of non working heart perfusion, the hearts were subjected to arrest for 30 minutes by administration of 5cc cardioplegic solution at the temperature of 4oC [Group I ], 15oC [Group II], 25oC [Group III], 37oC[Group IV]. At the same time, the topical cooling of heart was performed using ice saline. After arrest, the hearts were reperfused by non working heart perfusion for 1 hour with modified Tyrode solution at 37oC. The CPK, GOT and LDH in reperfusate were measured at 5,20,40,60 minutes after start of reperfusion. With the values of those, we compared the effect of temperature of cardioplegic solution on myocardial preservation. The results were as follows; 1. The enzyme values in reperfusate were highest at 5 minute and after then declined. 2. At 5 minutes after reperfusion, the enzyme values in Group I were lower than those in other Groups. These results suggest that the cardioplegic solutions using for cardiac arrest and myocardial protection can be working better at 4oC than at any other temperature.

There are more than five systems for transcribing English vowels. Because of this diversity, teachers of English and students are confronted with not a little problems with the English vowel symbols used in the English-Korean dictionaries, English text books, books for Phonetics and Phonology. This study was designed to suggest criterions for the phonemic transcription of English vowels on the basis of phonetic properties of the vowels and a system of English vowel transcription based on the criterions in order to minimize the problems with inter-system differences. A speaker (phonetician) of RP English uttered a series of isolated minimal pairs containing the vowels in question. The suggested vowel symbols are as follows: (1) Simple vowels: /i:/ in beat, /I/ bit, /$\varepsilon$/ bet, /${\ae}$ bat, /a:/ father, /Dlla/ bod, /c:/ bawd, /$\upsilon$ put, /u:/ boot /$\Lambda$/ but, and /e/ about /$\varepsilon:ll3:r$/ bird. (2) Diphthongs: /aI/ in bite, /a$\upsilon$/ bout, /cI/ boy, /3$\upsilon$llo$\upsilon$/ boat, /eI/ bait, /eelleer/ air, /uelluer/ poor, /iellier/ beer. Where two symbols are shown corresponding to the vowel in a single word, the first is appropriate for most speakers of British English and the second for most speakers of American English.

임신기간중 oxytocin의 역할을 규명하기 위해 그리고 조기분만 진통의 억제제로서 수많은 강력한 oxytocin antagonist들이 개발되고 있다. 본 연구는 발정된 흰쥐를 사용하여 oxytocin antagonist I(AI)이 control과 비교하여 자궁에 어떠한 활동을 보이는지를 알아보는 것이 주 목적이었다. AI과 control로서 saline을 주입하기 위해 경정맥에 cannula를 수술하여 집어 넣었고, 또 다른 cannula는 자궁활동을 측정하기 위해 자궁각에 집어 넣었다. 자궁수축상호아은 Grass Polygraph를 사용하여 측정하였고 수축활동은 10분동안의 integrated area를 계산하여 측정되었다. 5$\mu\textrm{g}$의 AI을 주입한 5분후 100mU의 oxytocin이 주입되었고 이 oxytocin주입은 매시간 5시간 동안 계속되었다. AI이 주입된 5분 후, oxytocin에 대한 자궁의 수축반응은 control에 비해 77% 감소되었다(P<0.05). AI 주입 2시간 후에는 그 감소가 control에 비해 54%였다. 그러나 3시간 이후부터 AI은 control과 어떤 유의한 차이를 보이지 않았다. AI이 인간의 조기분만진통을 방지하는데 사용될 수 있다는 잠재 가능성을 본 연구에서 확인하였다.

The purpose of this paper is to make a critique of racial aspects of Caribbean literature more ethical through a constant concern with history and political philosophy. The first step I take for this purpose is a comparative reading of C. L. R. James's view of Toussaint L'Ouverture's position and Frantz Fanon's view of race and class in the historical context of the Caribbean power-relations. In so doing, I examine how Toussaint's and Fanon's wills to negotiation were thwarted in the New World history. To elaborate upon this ethico-political approach, I have recourse to the so-called later Derrida, focusing on his books, such as The Politics of Friendship, Of Hospitality, On Cosmopolitanism and Forgiveness, etc. Taking an up-close look at Derrida's thought, I argue that his political contemplation of ethics is as effective as his deconstruction of "otherness" in dealing with the nature of ethnic clashes in both the real world and minority literature. In the second half of my paper, I reexamine the issues of race, gender, and class in the three novels of Jamaica Kincaid - Annie John, Lucy, and The Autobiography of My Mother. It is conceivable that from the feminist perspective Kincaid's fiction has been read as a postcolonial Bildungsroman. In my supplementary attempts to this criticism, I reveal that the teenage narrator's precocious awareness is still under the colonial influence in the Annie John section. My analysis of Lucy contends that the reasons why the white woman fails to make friends with the young black woman should be sought in the long history of the U.S. racial politics. In the section of The Autobiography of My Mother, I discuss how difficult it is for a minority woman to liberate from the spell of history insofar as she is engaged in the issue of identity. In closing, I pose a need of consolation that literature may grant us by becoming able to produce a different interpretation on all the bleaker reality.

The style of war in the $21^{st}$ century became digitalized cooperative union tactic, which relies heavily on the system providing real time information. Critical information is provided during the war from sensing to shooting. Therefore, epochal development in observation, reconnaissance (ISR), commanding (C4I) and precision strike (PGM) are necessary. Application of ubiquitous computing and network technologies in national defense is necessary for carrying out with various types of wars in the $21^{st}$ century. Therefore, the author wants to research core technology sector that can be developed and applied in preparation of ubiquitous national defense era. Also plans for applying recent u-Defense technology to the military sector had been suggested. Particularly, the author have suggested plans for utilizing combined future information technologies such as ad-hoc network, RFID for the logistic supply in construction of u-Defense system. By utilizing these information technologies, combat power and strategic capabilities of the military can be enhanced greatly.

This paper represents the comparison of harmonic loss characteristics of the inverter-driven 3-phase squirrel cage induction motor with slit and U-iron bridge slots of rotor. Two-dimensional time-stepped finite element method is used for electromagenetic field analysis. And spectrums of bar current, phase current, and torque are compared in each case.

유비쿼터스 네트워크는 언제, 어디서나, 어떤 기기로도 고품질의 다양한 유비쿼터스 서비스를 가능하게할 것이다. 디지털 홈, 전자정부, e-비즈니스 서비스를 제공하기 위해서 통신서비스, 방송서비스, 인터넷서비스가 BcN을 중심으로 컨버전스 된다고 볼 수 있다. 안전한 유비쿼터스 환경을 위해서는 새롭게 제안하는 fusion security framework의 조기정착이 필수적이며, 이를 위한 기술적 측면의 정보보호와 법적/제도적 측면의 정보보호를 알아보고, 향후의 유비쿼터스 정보보호에 대한 정책적 방향을 제안하고자 한다. 특히, 기술적인 측면에서의 국가 정책방향은 크게 인터넷 안전 대응체계 강화를 위한 u-secureKorea, 깨끗한 사이버 환경 구현을 위한 u-clean Korea, 개인정보보호 환경 구현을 위한 u-privacyKorea의 3가지 분야로 구분할 수 있으며, 3개 분야별로 BcN 인프라 보호기술 개발, 정보침해 방지기술개발, 개인정보 보호기술 개발을 추진하여야 하는 당위성을 제시하고자 한다.

This paper proposes a driving scheme for 6/6 single-phase SRM. The driving scheme is very simple and inexpensive. By use of this scheme, simple power devices based on low switching losses enable to high efficiency SRM drive. Starting, One of the main problem in single-phase SRM is overcome by a new starling algorithm with one hall sensor and a parting magnet. The proposed single-phase SRM has a high efficiency and robust drive characteristics compared to that of a universal motor.

Idiopathic renal hypouricemia (iRHUC) is a rare hereditary disease caused by a defect in urate handling of renal tubules. Type 1 renal hypouricemia (RHUC1) is diagnosed with confirmation of a mutation in SLC22A12 gene which encodes a renal urate-anion exchanger (URAT1). The majority of iRHUC patients are asymptomatic, especially during childhood, and thus many cases go undiagnosed or they are diagnosed late in older age with complications of hematuria, renal stones, or acute kidney injury (AKI). We report a case of a 7-year-old boy with subtle symptoms such as general weakness and dizziness and revealed hypouricemia and incidental nephrolithiasis. Homozygous mutations were detected in the SLC22A12 (c.774G>A) by molecular analysis. The present case suggests that fractional excretion of uric acid (FEUA) screening could be better followed by the coincidental discovery of hypouricemia, to prevent conflicting complications of iRHUC, even with normal urine uric acid to creatinine ratio (U_UA/U_Cr), and sequential genetic analysis if needed.

Salmonella, a major contributor to foodborne infections, typically causes self-limiting gastroenteritis. However, it is frequently invasive and disseminates across the intestinal epithelium, leading to deadly bacteremia. Although the genus is subdivided into >2,600 serotypes based on their antigenic determinants, only few serotypes are responsible for most human infections. In this study, a rapid dot-blot immunoassay was developed to diagnose multiple Salmonella enterica serotypes with high incidence rates in humans. The feasibility of 10 commercial antibodies (four polyclonal and six monoclonal antibodies) was tested using the 18 serotypes associated with 67.5% Salmonella infection cases in the United States of America (U.S.A) in 2016. Ab 3 (polyclonal; eight of 18 serotypes), Ab 8 (monoclonal; 13 of 18 serotypes), and Ab 9 (monoclonal; 10 of 18 serotypes) antibodies exhibited high detection rates in western blotting and combinations of two antibodies (Ab 3+8, Ab 3+9, and Ab 8+9) were applied to dot-blot assays. The combination of Ab 3+8 identified 15 of the tested 18 serotypes in 3 h, i.e., S. Enteritidis, S. Typhimurium, S. Javiana, S. I 4,[5],12:i:-, S. Infantis, S. Montevideo, S. Braenderup, S. Thompson, S. Saintpaul, S. Heidelberg, S. Oranienburg, S. Bareilly, S. Berta, S. Agona, and S. Anatum, which were responsible for 53.7% Salmonella infections in the U.S. in 2016. This cost-effective and rapid method can be utilized as an on-site colorimetric method for Salmonella detection.
