Recently, the global automobile industry is aiming for a transition from internal combustion locomotives to zero-emission vehicles. Electric vehicles powered by battery energy can operate at peak performance and improve fuel economy by applying multiple motors or multi-speed transmissions. In order to design a two-speed transmission, it is necessary to evaluate and analyze the application system and performance of electric vehicles. In this study, control performance optimization of a twostage battery electric vehicle equipped with an AMT-based automatic transmission was performed and performance according to control pattern changes was analyzed. In order to improve the operating efficiency of the motor, the shift control that sets the optimal operating point according to the vehicle speed and required torque was derived from the motor efficiency map. The performance of battery energy consumption and transmission loss energy according to the hysteresis interval was analyzed and optimized. The hysteresis interval applied to the optimal shift map acted as a factor in reducing the frequency and loss of shifts. It has been shown that keeping the hysteresis interval at about 4 km/h can reduce energy consumption while reducing the number of shifts.
Peak interval for reversible permeability is presented for nondestructively evaluating the remanent life of 1Cr-0.5Mo steel. The method to measure the peak interval of reversible permeability is based on the value of reversible permeability is the same as the differential value of the hysteresis loop. The measurement principle is based on the first harmonics voltage induced in a sensing coil using a lock-in amplifier tuned to a frequency of the exciting voltage. Results obtained for the peak interval of reversible permeability and Rockwell hardness on the aged samples decrease as aging time and the Larson-Miller parameter increase. We could estimate the remanent life of 1Cr-0.5Mo steel by using the relationship between the peak interval of reversible permeability and the Larson-Miller parameter, nondestructively.

This paper proposes a compensating algorithm for the secondary current of the measurement current transformer (CT) that removes the effects of the hysteresis characteristics of the iron-core. The exciting current resulting from the hysteresis characteristics of the core causes an error between the primary current and the secondary current of the measurement CT. The exciting current can be decomposed into the magnetizing current and the core loss current. The core loss current is obtained from the measured secondary current and the core loss resistance. The core flux linkage is calculated by integrating the measured secondary current, and then inserted into the flux-magnetizing current curve to obtain the magnetizing current. The exciting current at every sampling interval is obtained by summing the core-loss and magnetizing currents and then added to the measured current to obtain the correct current. The performance of the proposed algorithm is validated under various conditions using EMTP generated data. The results indicate that the proposed algorithm can improve the accuracy of the measurement CT significantly, and thus reduce the size and the cost of the measurement CT.
This study is a basic research for evaluating the buildability of cementitious materials for three-dimensional (3D) printing. In the cement paste step, the thixotropy behavior according to the resting time, which represents the time interval between each layer, was analyzed. In addition, the relationship between the thixotropy behavior and 3D concrete printing buildability was derived by proposing a measurement method that simulates the 3D concrete printing buildup process. The analysis of the tendency of the thixotropy behavior according to the resting time revealed that the area of the hysteresis loop (AHyst) showed a tendency to increase and then converge as the resting time increased, which means hysteresis loop approach critical resting time for sufficient buildability. In the thixotropy behavior analysis that simulates the 3D concrete printing buildup process, the buildup ratio, which is the recovery rate of the shear stress, showed a tendency to increase and then converge as the resting time increased, which are similar results like hysteresis loop. It was concluded that AHyst and the buildup ratio can be used as parameters for determining the resting time, and they have close relationships with 3D concrete printing buildability.
A current transformer(CT) should provide the faithful reproduction of the primary current to the measurement or the protection equipments. The exciting current resulting from the hysteresis characteristics of the core causes an error between the primary current and the secondary current of the CT. A compensating algorithm for the secondary current of the current transformer that removes the effects of the hysteresis characteristics of the iron-core has proposed. The core flux linkage is calculated by integrating the measured secondary current, and then inserted into the flux-magnetizing current curve to obtain the magnetizing current. The exciting current at every sampling interval is obtained by summing the core-loss and magnetizing currents and added to the measured current to obtain the correct current. This paper describes the innovative new product of the iron-cored electronic current transformer. This product composes an iron-cored CT and an intelligent electronic device(IED) ported the compensating algorithm. The test results of the iron-cored electronic current transformers in Korea Electro-technology Research Institute(KERI) are presented.

The proposed algorithm decomposes the exciting current into the magnetizing current and the core loss current and each of them is estimated. The core loss current is calculated from the secondary voltage and the secondary voltage-core loss current curve. The core flux linkage is calculated and then inserted into the flux-current curve to estimate the magnetizing current. The exciting current at every sampling interval is obtained by summing the core-loss and magnetizing currents and then added to the measured current to compensate the secondary current. The performance of the proposed algorithm is validated under various conditions using EMTP generated data. The test results of the real CT were also included. The results indicate that the proposed algorithm can improve the accuracy of the measurement CT significantly, and thus reduce the size and the cost of the CT.
The conventional Phase-Shift Full-Bridge (PSFB) converter has a serious voltage spike because of the ringing between the leakage inductance of the transformer and the parasitic output capacitance of the secondary side rectifier switches. To overcome this problem, an asynchronous active clamp technique employing an auxiliary DC/DC converter has been proposed. However, an exact analyses for designing the auxiliary DC/DC converter has not been presented. Therefore, the amount of power that is supposed to be handled in the auxiliary DC/DC converter is calculated through a precise mode analyses in this paper. In addition, this paper proposes a lossy snubber circuit with hysteresis characteristics to reduce the burden that the auxiliary DC/DC converter should take during the starting interval. This technique results in optimizing the size of the magnetic component of the auxiliary DC/DC converter. The operational principles and the theoretical analyses are validated through experiments with a 48V-to-30V/15A prototype.

The dynamics of suspended sediment (SS) in forested catchments vary depending upon human or natural disturbances, including land use change, forestry activity, forest fires, and landslides. Understanding the dynamics of SS originating from the potential sources within a forested catchment is crucial for establishing an effective water quality management strategy. Therefore, to suggest a systematic method for interpreting SS dynamics, we evaluated the performance and applicability of ten methods for calculating the hysteresis index based on observed hydrological data and two calculation models (Lawler's method and Lloyd's method) with five sampling intervals (50th, 25th, 10th, 5th, and 1st percentiles). Our results showed that Lloyd's method, which used a sampling interval at the 1st percentile, had the largest number of analyzable runoff events and exhibited the best performance. The results of this study can contribute to quantifying the hysteresis in the relationship between discharge and SS and provide useful information for interpreting SS dynamics.

A dynamometer was designed and constructed to measure three directional forces and moments of pull type implement with eliminating the interference between the forces. The dynamometer consists of a linear motion bearing, self-aligning bearings, universal joints, and cantilevers where strain gages were attached. A data acuquisition system was developed to collect data and to analyze them. The data acuquisition system consists of the dynamometer, a potentiometer to measure the implement depth, strain amplifiers, a A/D converter, and an IBM-AT compatible microcomputer. Program, written in C language, was developed to read data from tranducers with given interval, to calculate forces and moments, to display them on screen, and to store them on disk. The calibration results showed that cantilevers had good linearity and there was no interference among directional forces. When applied loads were reduced with constant rate, hysteresis was appeared on the dynamometer. It might to be reduced by using ball bearings instead of self-aligning bearings.
