Design, Implementation and Testing of HF transformers for Satellite EPS Applications

  • The electric power subsystems (EPS) of most remote sensing satellites consist of a solar array as a source of energy, a storage battery, a power management and control (PMC) unit and a charge equalization unit (CEU) for the storage battery. The PMC and CEU use high frequency transformers in their power modules. This paper presents a design, implementation and testing results of a high frequency transformer for the EPS of satellite applications. Two approaches are used in the design process of the transformer based on the pre-determined transformer specifications. The transformer is designed based on an ETD 29 ferrite core. The implemented transformer consists of one center-tapped primary coil with eleven center-tapped secondary coils. The offline calculation results and measured values of R, L for transformer coils are convergence. A test circuit for measuring the transformer parameters like voltage, current and B-H hysteresis was implemented and applied. The test results confirm that the voltage waveforms of both primary and secondary coils were as desired. No overlapping occurred between the control signal and the transformer, which was not saturated during testing even during a short circuit test of the secondary channels. The dynamic B-H loop characteristics of the used transformer cores were measured. The sample test results are given in this paper.

  • The research and development of an actuator are accelerating in the robotics industry. The electricity polymer and SMA actuator are designed simply and are produced a lot of forces per unit volume. Their motions are similar to human's motion, But the repeatability of the electricity polymer actuator is lower. The reaction velocity of the SMA actuator is slow and the travel is short. In this paper, the dynamic characteristic of the segmented SMA is studied. The SMA wire is divided by using the Thermo-electric module(TEM) to control each of segments independently. The MOSFET circuit is used to supply constant currents fer the Thermo-electric module(TEM). The hysteresis and displacement of the SMA wire according to load are measured.

OCV 히스테리시스 특성을 이용한 확장 칼만 필터 기반 리튬 폴리머 배터리 SOC 추정 (OCV Hysteresis Effect-based SOC Estimation in EKF Algorithm for a LiFePO4/C Cell)

  • 본 논문에서는 리튬 폴리머 배터리($LiFePO_4/C$)의 개방전압(OCV;open-circuit voltage) 히스테리시스 특성을 이용한 확장 칼만 필터(EKF;extended Kalman filter) 기반 state-of-charge(SOC) 추정방법을 소개한다. 배터리 등가회로의 중요 요소인 OCV 모델링을 위해 충전 및 방전 각각의 OCV 히스테리시스 특성을 고려하였고 더불어 OCV-SOC 관계의 SOC 간격을 10%에서 5%로 조정하여 EKF 기반 SOC 추정알고리즘의 성능이 향상되었다. 축소된 하이브리드 자동차용 전류프로파일을 적용했을 때 SOC 추정이 잘 이루어지지 않는 영역은 EKF의 측정방정식에 노이즈 모델 및 데이터 리젝션(data rejection)을 구축하였다. 제안된 방법을 이용하여 SOC 추정결과 전류적산법 대비 5%이내의 SOC 추정에러를 만족하였다.

  • In this paper, we propose two types of novel discrete time current control methods of modified fixed band hysteresis control and optimal control for Parallel Resonant DC Link Inverters(PRDCLI). Because zero bus voltage intervals are generated on the DC link of PRDCLI, we can obtain the information of counter electromotive force(emf) by a simple estimation strategy. The proposed current controllers predict the currents of the next resonant cycle using the obstained information of counter emf and the average values of DC link voltages. The computer simulation results for a simple equivalent circuit of induction motor show that the proposed control methods are more effective than conventional methods.

기능성 액츄에이터를 이용한 마이크로 밸브 (Micro Valve with Functional Actuator)

  • Piezoelectric(PZT) actuator can substitute for solenoid which is used in fluid control field because it has faster response times and no possibility of explosion. Besides, it is available in a high temperature and it has low energy consumption. In this study, pneumatic micro valve, bimorph type PZT actuator using the softner type PZT, carbon plate as a shim and its controller circuit were suggested and investigated. Performance tests and characteristics analysis, such as displacement, force, hysteresis and frequency properties, were carried out. The displacement of the actuator measured at the end point was 63 ${\mu}m$., force of the actuator was 0.052 N and maximum operating frequency was 15Hz. Also, characteristics of the micro valve with PZT actuator were evaluated in a testing system. The results show that the suggested PZT actuator is suitable for micro valve.

주사터널링현미경을 위한 압전구동기의 비선형 모델링 (Nonlinear Modeling of Piezoelectric Actuators for Scanning Tunneling Microscopy)

  • In scanning tunneling microscopy, the piezoelectric actuator is popuilarly used in stacked type as it can provide remarkable positioning resolution and stiffness. The actuator, however, exhibits a considerable amount of hystereic nonlinearity, resulting in losses of overall measuring accuracy when a linear model is used for its control and calibration, In this study, a nonlinear model is proposed for predicting the precise relationship between the input connand voltage and the output displacement of the actuator itself, cross-coupled electrical behaviours of the driving circuit with the actuator, and mechanical characteristics of the driven components of the actuator. Finally experimental results prove that the nonlinear model enhances the measuring of scanning tunneling microscopy by an order ten in comparison with a conventional linear model.

  • 본 논문은 전압형 PWM컨버터를 이용한 3상 능동전력 필터에 관해 연구하였다. 능동 필터는 6-펄스정류기의 입력측에 나타나는 고조파를 제거함과 동시에 무효전력을 보상하며, 3상 PMW인버터와 커패시티로 구성된다. 보상전류를 가급젓 현존하는 전류에 가깝게 발생시키고 필터의 속응성을 개선하고자 히스테리시스 제어기법을 사용하였고 이에 관한 제어회로는 간단히 구성될 수 있다. 그결과 교류입력측 전류는 정현파로 보상되고 역율 또한 거의 1로 개선할 수 있었다.

SOC Estimation Based on OCV for NiMH Batteries Using an Improved Takacs Model

  • This paper presents a new method for the estimation of State of Charge (SOC) for NiMH batteries. Among the conventional methods to estimate SOC, Coulomb Counting is widely used, but this method is not precise due to error integration. Another method that has been proposed to estimate SOC is by using a measurement of the Open Circuit Voltage (OCV). This method is found to be a precise one for SOC estimation. In NiMH batteries, the hysteresis characteristic of OCV is very strong compared to other type of batteries. Another characteristic of NiMH battery to be considered is that the OCV of a NiMH battery under discharging mode is lower than it is under charging mode. In this paper, the OCV is modeled by a simple method based on a hyperbolic function which well known as Takacs’s model. The OCV model is then used for SOC estimation. Although the model is simple, the error is within 10%.

증강 원리를 이용한 힘 측정 시스템 설계 및 제작에 관한 연구 (Design and fabrication of force measuring system using build-up procedure)

  • In heavy industries forces which are exceeding the range of available force standard machines have to be measured. Force measuring system using build-up procedure can be applied to measure large forces efficiently. In this study strain gage type force sensors are designed and fabricated, and the build-up force measuring system with 4.5 MN capacity using the developed force sensors is 0.03% or less over the range of 600 kN .approx. 1.5 MN and the force measuring system is less than 0.06% or less over the range of 500 kN .approx. 4.5 MN.

에어로졸 증착법에 의한 압전 PZT 후막의 전기적 특성 (Electrical properties of piezoelectric PZT thick film by aerosol deposition method)

  • 에어로졸 증착법에 의해 실리콘 기판위에 $10{\sim}20{\mu}m$의 두께를 가진 PZT 후막을 제조한 후 $700^{\circ}C$에서 어닐링처리하였다. PZT 분말에 의해 제조된 막은 임피던스 분석기(impedance analyzer)와 쇼여-타워 서킷(Sawyer-Tower circuit)으로 분석하였다. PZT 분말은 통상적인 고상반응법 및 솔-젤 법으로 준비되었다. 고상반응법으로 만들어진 분말을 사용한 $10{\mu}m$ 두께 PZT 막의 잔류분극, 항전계 및 유전상수는 각각 $20{\mu}C/cm^2$, 30 kV/cm 그리고 1320이었다. 한편 솔-젤 법으로 제조된 분말을 사용한 경우의 유전상수는 635로 비교적 낮은 값을 나타낸다. 이는 어닐링시 생기는 발생하는 유기물에 의한 기공의 존재 때문이다.
